  1. I was just comparing a spider to a normal intake a couple of days ago.. I don't think the TB is any larger on the spider.. sure does look cooler though.
  2. Its a washington car. Only 3-4 of my 60+ cars over the years have had serious rust issues.. I would say 80% of them have been washington cars... and on top of that.. I live in texas now.. no one here has ever seen rust:) It sees as much mud and water and rough conditions as I can possibly find down here.. when it rains, some of the roads here flood.. makes it great for me.. I just pick the lane with the most water and least traffic.. put it in 4wd and go
  3. I sympathize with you guys and your rust.. I'm so mad.. my wagon has a surface rust spot the size of a quarter on the gate.. and the car is only 17 years old..UNACCEPTABLE!!
  4. Honestly, you don't give enough info to answer your question, unless someone us specifically familiar with the factory rac on you Audi and your Soob I had adapters that I bought for my explorer so I could mount my Thule ski racks on the factory roof rack crossbars without having to buy the whole thule rack setup.. I think they cost about $15... The best part was that they worked on my 1990 Loyale factory roof rack as well.. So I guess my question is.. How did you have the bike racks mounted to your Audi?.. Load bar size is the same for a lot of different types of cars, so if you have adapters for the factory Audi rack, they may fit on the soob.. Heres a pic of soem a a setup for mounting Thule bike racks on factory style loadbars BTW.. the bike rack in the pic is the same one I use.. But I use it with my Thule rack... If you do have to end up buying stuff to make it work, get it on ebay.. I got 2 Bike racks with locks(and keys!) for about $70 after shipping
  5. So.. I have to ask.. what sort of shape was your tranny in when you swapped the 5 speed into your SVX.. I said they were the weak point of the car because every single SVX owner that I personally know has had at least one tranny change/rebuild done.. I would say that makes it qualify as a weak link regardless of the reason for failure.
  6. Glenn.. it sounds like everything is all screwed up.. you should just give up and give summer to me.. I promise to give (him/her/it) a good home
  7. If it makes you feel any better, the pug rims are made by michelin. PM edrach for the name of that pug shop in seattle.. he gave me their info when i was selling my 505 Turbo, but I have since lost it and moved quite a ways away from seattle.
  8. I just stumbled across this thread.. In my 87, I have used a 2wd NA dizzy, a 2wd turbo dizzy and i currently have a 4wd turbo dizzy in there.. no difference.. yours is an 89, if I remember correctly, so the same rules should apply to yours.
  9. You don't mention the year of the tranny.. they were stronger toward the end of the SVX production.. but the bottom line is that the SVX auto trans (IMO) sucks.. they were the weak point of that car.
  10. i just did an outer tie rod end on an 83 brat.. the owner brought the part to me.. said it was $50 at NAPA
  11. Wow.. sounds like you had an epic battle with your speedo cable.. Mine just unscrewed by hand:-p
  12. 87 TurboWagon - Bitch.. Because its often troublesome and unpleasant to be around
  13. One of them there battery cables in your pic is marked in red.. do you think it would be wise to remove it?
  14. Nice rack. Mech85.. that looks to be a factory wagon wing.
  15. Theres a place in seattle that fixes pugs.. they will probably sell you some wheels as long as you don't tell them its for a subaru.. I can't remember the name, but Edrach knows which place I am talking about.
  16. Congrats.. hope your little girl is as easy as mine has been PS.. you said that your boy was 25lbs by 6 months? jees.. lillian is 2 and a half and only weights 28 lbs.. and she was about the same birth weight as your son
  17. Pull the rear axles and use a dolly, or get someone with a flatbed
  18. Mine has been getting about 15mpg lately.. after testing everything that was testable and coming up with nothing.. I slapped in another MAF that was laying around.. problems seem to have gone away
  19. Ok. I think this is a great idea.. Anyone have any ideas what to do about the front to level it out.?
  20. Yup.. never seen any auto with an LSD.. if it was the FT4WD 5 dpeed, your chances would be greatly improved.
  21. I checked the auction.. it says it has malfunctioning air suspension. not very safe to drive that way.. or comfortable.. probably does help a little to be in 4wd
  22. Being an 85, it will be 4 wd, not AWD.. still cool though. and better for bogging around in the trails:) Is it a stick or auto? the clicking axle can be remedied by putting in a new one.. they can be had for about $55 at www.cvaxles.com Check for maintenance.. the timing belts should be changed every 55k or so.. while doing that, its a good idea to do the water pump too.. and cam and crank seals if they are leaking.. Lifter tick is common.. 2 major causes are old oil pump gaskets, which can be dealt with while doing the timing belts... and crud build up in the lifters, which can be dealt with by flushing with your favorite brand of detergent. if it runs well, and is in decent shape.. for $500, I say go for it.. you live in the rust belt, so its doubtful that you are going to find a completely rust free soob.
