  1. You could always PM him and find out...
  2. The quick boot ( 2 piece) is good for a temporary repair.. Honestly, I have seen tham last longer than quite a few remanufactured axles. Have seen them go for up to 10k miles
  3. Check the marketplace for an LSD.. although somewhat rare, they do pop up there occasionally. For a lift.. go to http://www.ozified.com .. Shipping will probably be a killer though. BTW.. Welcome to the board. Nice wagon!
  4. You can always buy a 4wd turbowagon and slap a D/R in it. can be done in a day if the wagon is already a manual. takes marginally longer if its an auto..
  5. Do NOT remove any of the emissions stuff on the motor.. your fuel injection system will be highly displeased if you do. 2 best upgrades.. more air in and more air out.
  6. I guess I'm out of place I love my Toyota. And my 92 Saab would beat the pants off of any stock 92 USDM soob.. and look better/handle better getting there.. But for price and ease of repair.. you can't beat a soob:D I am 28 and have owned over 60 cars ranging from 1937 to 2000.. Theres a lot to be said for a lot of other cars.
  7. SPFI started in late 86. D/R was discontinued after 88. Rob. As far as I have been able to tell, all the Turbos that came with D/R are RX type D/Rs.. Little different gearing from the run of the mill D/R (especially after 87 when they went to FT4WD for the RX D/R) Additionally, all the RX type D/Rs are 3.70, as opposed to the 3.90 standard D/R. Confused yet?
  8. http://www.xt6.org is said to welcome standard XT owners as well
  9. Check out the sea lion caves.. they're pretty cool
  10. I have done it on an older soob, and have assisted in the conversion of a few non soob cars ranging from the 60's to the 90's.. Some are easier than others, but the basics apply in all cases. Having a complete donor car is the easiest way. If are thinking of having the shop do it for you, be prepared to spend a lot of money. You will need(general list, there are some specifics to newer soobs that I am probably not aware of.. I'm sure someone can fill in the holes).... Transmission Flywheel and accesories (shifter, clutch fork, those stupid little pins that hold the TO bearing to the fork) Clutch assembly(Disc, pressure plate, TO bearing) 5 speed tranny xmember with mounts rear driveshaft from a manual(they are probably different in length than the Auto driveshaft) Clutch pedal assembly Hill holder assembly(optional I think.. it was on mine) Plumbing for hydraulic clutch if applicable 5 speed interior trim pieces Things you may or may not need(stuff I am not specifically sure about with a newer soob) Carrier bearing mounts I am not sure how much, if at all, the newer TCU communicates with the ECU.. on the older 4EAT, I don't think it does at all.. some changes to be made there?.. I don't think so, but don't quote me on it. A few plugs and wires are bound to be different, you will have to find a way to trick the neutral safety switch, hook up reverse lights and cruise control. Its a bit of work, but not impossible.. Even fairly affordable if you are willing to turn a wrench. Get all of your parts, an FSM and a couple of people that know a little about soobs.. or can at least follow directions and you can have it done in a weekend.. The trick is to ignore all the funny looks you wife gives you and pretend you don't hear her when she wanders around muttering "you're friggin nuts.. you have to drive that thing 2500 miles in 2 weeks and its in pieces on the garage floor..".... Oh wait.. thats my wife... Beware.. you may witness similar behaviors from your wife:D After writing all of this, I remebered reading a writeup for this somewhere on the Legacy central board..
  11. Yup.. its a pain though.. Lots of people do it, bu, personally, I would rather spend the extra 45 minutes to take the motor out.
  12. AutoZone.. $15 for the cone filter adapter
  13. Meeky.. its a legacy turbo.. no comparison to an 88 wagon or an 89 hatch. Offer him $1200 for it and bring it home.
  14. Sorry to hijack this, but..... 88RXsedan.. how the hell did you fit a 9000 IC in your soob.. those things are huge.Got pics?
  15. I wouldn't be so eager.. Adam's kinda weird..... Just kidding, Adam's a pretty cool guy:D Adam.. one of these days we'll hang out again.. Hoping to get back home soon.. and while I'm there I need to stop in Medford to see a friend.. maybe we can all get together while I'm down there...
  16. They're full of crap. They don't as far as I have been told( by them) have a database for anything older than 95 or something. BTW, they told me mine wasn't originally sold in the US as well.. Carfax says otherwise...
  17. I'll have my FSM back today or tomorrow.. If you don't get any leads before then, I will hunt down the diagrams and scan them for you... You will have to hand deliver the beer though:D
  18. Look into shawn's current project.. RX tranny into an 84 wagon.. all your answers should be there.
  19. High pitched whistling sound.. crappy acceleration.. bucking under load... sounds like some sort of vauum leak.. Follow that sound!
  20. Well that makes sense.. I have a dash from an Automatic in mine
  21. Only reason brought it up is mine was 4WD 3AT 3.70.. but I put in a 3.70 5 speed so it wasn't an issue. The sedan we recently stripped out was the same.. and a wagon I had struppied prior to that was 4wd 3AT nonturbo with 3.70.. as a matter of fact.. every auto EA82 soob I have seen has been 3.70..Just my observation.. if yours is 3.90(and I am told some are) then thats even less work for you..
  22. 6500 Probably has something to do with the fact that 85-6 uses different cams than 87+ Thats why 87+ gets that whopping 115HP ans 85-86 gets the little wimpy measly 111HP:burnout:
