Ticking Alternator?
If its coming from the alternator, my guess wopuld be that the bearings are going kaput.. I would consider getting another alternator and keeping it on hand for when this one dies.

Midwest Subaru Meet-April 24th and 25th starts 24th at 11AM
To the guys that are stuck and broken: Let us know if you guys need parts shipped to you to make the drive home. I will dig into my stash if theres anything that can be used. I'm sure others will do the same. Good luck, that sounds like some nasty mud.

Need Help with SPFI
thats a very good question. I had the same problem with a 90 loyale.. it ended up going to XSNRG.. he couldn't figure it out either.. he ended up selling it to some girl that fixed it in like 15 minutes.. might want to get ahold of him, or I can maybe give him a call and see what the deal was

Need Help with SPFI
Hold on there speedy.. the code you are referring to (injectors 1&2) is code 14. That also applies for an SPFI.. but a code 14 for SPFI is 'abnormal injector output' However, if you do have an known SPFI ECU available, try it out.. can't hurt.

ea82 intercooler installation
one cools oil, one cools air. The inlet and outlets on an intercooler are substantially bigger than an AC condensor or oil cooler. Heres an intercooler install I did last week. http://usmb.net/albums/albuo11/picture_008.jpg

lets play, Name these electrical do-dads!!
None of the relays in that set are for fuel or ignition.. Don't remember what they are for right off the top of my head, but, (when still installed in the car the harness came from) there is a set of 4 relays to the left of the steering column.. Thats what you have shown in the pic. then, there is a pair od relays that mounts right above the steering column. Those two are fuel and ignition relays. I believe the ones you have shown are headlights and such.

89 GL wagon: Where are the vacuum actuator and 4wd vacuum switch located?
I agree with snowman. I would also check rear axles just for giggles. BTW, the actuator solenoids are on the drivers side strut tower, near the fuel filter. The actuator diaphram is on the side of the tranny... I really don't see how they could be your problem though

Lifed Brat in Shelton, WA...anybody here?
I couldn't give much less of a **** about post count. The question was half honest, half sarcastic.. I love making fun of the little butt hole towns in SW washington. Since you brought up relevance, I just looked around a little.. and sure enough..most of my posts were not only relevant, but some were even informative and helpful. If it will make you feel better, I will ask the admin to lower my post count a little to make up for the lack of relevance afforded by the above question. So were you gratified to see your post count go up by asking such a silly rump roast question?:-p

cv castle nut loosening
Sounds like the axle wasn't all the way in, or, like edrach said, there was gunk behind it that is getting squished out... also, not sure about the wisdom of the large cresent wrench.. may want to consider investing in a 36 mm socket

Last year Dual Range Wagon made?
Oop.. sorry for the misinformation. Learn something new every day. Lag isn't bad.. will probably be better when i get the BPV plumbed in. Off boost?.. don't know, never tried it;) Seriously though.. driveability is fine.. it has a little surge at low speeds when not in boost, but it did that even when the motor was stock and hooked up to a 2wd 3AT in my other wagon...

Last year Dual Range Wagon made?
Don't think the mileage difference is that great.. I just switched from Part time single range to Full Time single range and haven't noticed a big difference in mileage However, you will never switch from 2wd to AWD at the push of a button.. you might switch from 2wd to 4wd though. And the 88 (EA82) can only be had in a fuel injected model in the US

EA82T Hi Perf. Parts

Last year Dual Range Wagon made?
