  1. Oh.. sorry.. I misread your first post..instead of dash lights soming on, I thought it said dash lights going out.. oops. Have you checked for error codes? Turning the heater to max helps? Is the car overheating?
  2. Sounds like you are having a bad electrical connection somewhere.. have you cleaned your battery terminals and such?.. made sure they're tight?
  3. if you get a 5 spd from a turbo, you will need new axles(autos, even turbo autos use the N/A spline count).. if you get one from a non turbo, you will need a new rear diff.. just a tip Also, the pushbutton fot the 4wd on the auto and the 5 spd don't hook up the same way
  4. Any ea82 tranny will work, sedan, wagon.. D/R, Push Button, RX D/R.. they ill all bolt in .. I put a 5 spd pushbutton 4wd trannyin my 87 auo turb 44 earlier this reay.. piece of cake.. much easier than I expected.. hardest part was the pedal assembly
  5. Screw it. If the engine you are considering rebuilding is in your car, running, then keep driving it and build another one.. Find a low mile SPFI block and go to town
  6. Yeah skip .. was Talking about the IAC.. Thanks for the correction. Edit: Previous post edited to include the proper qualifiers.
  7. Ok.. just so I'm clear.. both donor and recipient are 89? As soon as the storm clears(if its still light out) I will get some pics of the hoses you are having trouble with.. its too hard to explain or I would.(yes, I actually know where the all come from and where they all go:D )
  8. What year is the turbo motor/car.. if its 87 or newer, I will get some pics of mine for you.. 85-86 is a little different, so mine wouldn't help much. Also. which tranny does it have.. that will make a difference as well
  9. The Aux air valve controls the idle when cold. There have been a couple of posts about this thing maybe, possibly going bad somewhat, kind of recently.. You don't need a code reader to get he codes from the car Hre's how you do it
  10. calebz

    lift kit

Not just easier, but adding in the electrcity bill for running the welder, its probably going to be cheaper to get a lift from pk..
  11. 4x140 Good luck finding replacements. A lot of us are running 80s peugeot 505 rims, because they're about the only non-soob rim that will bolt up. they come in 14 and 15 inch sizes, whereas soobs only come in 13 inch( in the US anyway).. Others of us have done a 6-lug conversion. For more info, do a search of the database. there is lots of info about wheels here
  12. Fuel pump relay is under the dash on the drivers side right above the plugs for the ECU
  13. Yup Brian thats when you were up there.. Back when I was driving the Maroon wagon..Gee, those were the good ol' days
  14. Reiter is a fun place.. Last time I was up there, I rode around with austin for a bit.. had to park my car.. 2wd turbowagon didn't do to well in the mud
  15. I was just about to forward your eamil addy to Todd in hopes that he could help you out, but your addy isn't listed in your profile.. either post it or PM me or something and I will pass it on
  16. Maybe todd has something.. I will dig out his email.. He's in the DFW area and he plays with old soobs. Steve and I are not too far away from you either.. Me being in Mckinney and Him being in Denton. We both have EA82 TurboWagons. Maybe we should all get together sometime. Steve knows awhere the yards are in Dallas that have all the old soob stuff
  17. Its not a neutral safety switch.. Don't think yours has it.. Are you getting power to the coil?.. To the dist? I know E82S have that silly little screw that comes out, causing the rotor to not turn with the disty.. do EA81s also have that ? something to check into
  18. True, pulling the battery cable will work on most cars that are not heavily computerized(my saab 9000 for example was built to shut off if the curcuit was interupted by the pulling of a cable) .. however, it is a good way to fry an alt... especially a tempermental sooby alt.
  19. I don't think thats a normal thing on the EA82s.. for all the problems I have has with mine, that is not one of them..things like this are bound to happen however.. after all, the car is 15 years old.. possibly dirty connections on the tps.. fuel injectors dirty.. all sorts of reasons a car will stumble when you romp on it.. timing off maybe?
  20. Change all fluids.. if you don't know the maitanence history, then change the timing belts, waterpump and any seals that might be leaking. check the radiator.. overheating is the number one killer for old soobs Performance?.. c'mon man you bought a 90hp car..Better exhaust, better intake..Carbed? Put a weber on it. Those things will help snap it up a bit.. Lighten the flywheel.. but it will never be fast .. you want more performance, sell it and buy a turbo model.. even those are just.. well.. kinda quick. But yeah.. talk to andy.. He seems to be pretty good with these things and he's in your neck of the woods.
  21. Newer probably means 90+ legacies and imprezas and such, which are not all AWD. Thus the posting of the question in the New Generation Forum:D
  22. I got mine on Ebay.. I already had the "feet" and the load bars.. I got 2 thule bike racks for it for $65 So someone gave you a bike rack? what model yakima is it? you should be able to get adapters at any sporting goods store(that carries rack stuff) that will mount yakima or thule rack stuff to factory racks.. by the way the factory rack adapters for my explorer were the same as the ones for my subaru (which was an 87 GL)
  23. Alliturken: I'm not looking for just any ECU.. I'm trying to get a Euro ECU.. its an experiment.. thanks for the link though
