Electrical problem with 90 Loyale
calebz replied to dptyrob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Classic signs of the alternator dying. Time for a new one. -
I'm blushing:-p (closest thing to a blushing smilie) Glaveston is quite a drive from here (6-7 hours or so?) However, that 'other' board is having a statewide soob meet in Austin the last weekend of next month. I am doing everything I can to prepare teh soob for attendance.. Have yet to finalize the last step though.. Permission from the wife Welcoma aboard. Old soobs are few and far between down here.. But we're slowly filling in the gaps.
-
They were also available in a 2.5 V6(pre 92).. Which while not the fastest thing on the road, it was substaintially more powerful than a N/A soob 1.8.. Damned good motor in terms of longevity and reliability. Overall, in terms of a daily driver, for reliability and fairly inexpensive maintenance, there is very little on the road that beats a camry.. Subaru included. PS.. the V6 is also a non-interference motor

I thought the header was $490? Just trying to keep things in perspective;)

Thats cheating mark.. they're all yours!

fuel consumption vs tire size
calebz replied to Roobaflu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Actually, if you went a perpetual 40mph or so, you would probably do ok in mileage.. Just don't slow down or speed up... ever;) -
Yup, teh WRX rims will fit. Beware of going too wide and dealing with rubbing Any 5x100 wheels will fit, but most aftermarket wheels don't have the drastic offset that soobs have (~52 or so mm).. Most aftermarkets are 40-48mm.. Will still work, but rubbing again can be an issue. Moving to new gen.. Those guys probably know more about that stuff;)

205-55-16.. only way to go;) -
Welcome.. You don't say whether the car is a 5 speed or auto.. If its an auto, sorry,I can't help much. If its a 5 speed, push in the clutch Now, since its a turbo, its time to make it faster!!

Whats the big deal.. Its just an EA81 wagon.. thats all their good for anyway;) -
Funny.. out of the 20+ turbo cars I have had (Saabs, Subarus, Volvos, Peugeots).. only a single one with under 100k.. a few well over 200k.. Never had a turbo crap out on me because of using dino oil. (or for any other reason) Back on topic.. Which turbo does the XT use? Is it the same TD04 that the WRX uses?

Still working on it.. ALmost there... look at my teasers thread and you will get an idea of how close I am
