  1. I don't know how common you problem is....but I would say from an engineering point of view that the point where the pipes come together will have more thermal stresses, and probably over time the weld failed.
  2. You may want to post in the meet & greet forum.....and/or post on the regional forums on NASIOC http://forums.nasioc.com/forums
  3. That's a little high IMO, unless it's in immaculate shape.
  4. Yeah, you should be able to use RS struts. It may lower your ride height some, but that's it.
  5. To answer your question, yes the crank gear is held in place against the crank lip by the crank pulley & main bolt
  6. The MAF is a separate unit, and shouldn't be modified...... Personally, I'd go with the airbox. The cone filters can cause issues with sucking hot/turbulent air, and the MAF sensor not reading the air flow correctly.
  7. There's an anti-drain back valve in the line that supplies ATF to the torque converter. Over time this valve fails, so it takes a little bit to fill the torque converter back up. I do not know if this valve/line is internal or external, but I experienced this with my 90 legacy when it was AT, and had an trans tech mention the valve.
  8. They should.... I have found though that there are some differences. I got a cruise setup from lmdew from a 94 or 95 impreza to put on my 97. The throttle cable length coming from the actuator is shorter then what's on my 97. I don't know why that would be the case, but it is. I'll either have to get a different cable, or try fabbing up a bracket to move the cable mount closer.
  9. Yeah, they're more beneficial on turbo cars, but even on turbo cars, unless you run them hard, or on the track.....I can't say they'll improve anything.
  10. Gary, You have the push style clutch, which is a little different from my setup, but I believe it still should have the spring. Anybody have a picture they could post up or take? I'll host the picture if need be.
  11. You're probably not going to find any screws specifically for the headlight. You may be able to find some generic ones that work at your local autoparts stor or hardware store. Your other option is to see if a member has one, or get a broken headlight from a junkyard for cheap.
  12. Please try and keep all related items in one thread. It makes it easier to follow and doesn't clutter the board. I'm going to close this thread so everything is kept in your original thread.
  13. I'm not sure.....try posting in the thread and see if you get any feedback. I think there's also a forester board around....you may want to ask on there.
  14. Check out this thread http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18504 I recently installed an XM radio into my GF's Outback using the aux kit, and works great. Here's some pics http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/outbackxm/
  15. I would suggest talking with douglas vincent. He's one of the few people out there that have successfully run a custom supercharger setup.
  16. Subaru used to sell them, however I don't think they do any more. I think I have haerd someone looking at some of the dealers overseas that still had stock....but I don't know if that is really an option.
  17. Sounds like an odd problem. The switch may need to be replaced. You may also want to try posting on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums and see if anyone else has experienced this problem.
  18. My suggestion would be to pull the accelerator pedal assembly out, find out where the spring is, and see if there's any way to install another one, or replace the stock one with a heavier duty spring. Either way, it's going to be a custom job.
  19. You'll probably be fine. An upgraded wiring harness & connectors with relays isn't a bad idea, but you'd probably be ok.
  20. There should be a spring that holds the clutch fork against the piston. Also, you can put a little bit of grease in the indent where the piston goes. That will help quiet the noise.
