  1. Have you tried cleaning the the cd player? Does it do it with all discs, or just certain ones?
  2. Hmm....I'm not sure if they'll work. To be honest, if you've already bought the parts, I'd just hook it up and see if it works.
  3. I'd just keep an eye on the plugs, and you may want to check the plug wires. You may also want to run some injector cleaner or something to clean things out a bit, because you probably were depositing some carbon build up from the plug being fouled.
  4. It's possible the oil pump may need some attention. There are screws on the backing plate that some times come loose, as well as an o-ring between the pump and block (however they don't usually fail). I'd suspect a screw on the backing plate. Here are some pics of my timing belt change which have some pictures of the oil pump and screws. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/timingbelt Have you tried changing oil viscosity higher or lower to see if that changes anything? Josh
  5. I would get a hand held vacuum pump, just hook it to the actuator nipple, and make sure the actuator holds vacuum, and it's actuating all the way.
  6. You can add to the new gen sticky compilation if you want. Just follow the format for posting. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51554 I will not add a bunch of separate stickies though.
  7. Are you sure your engine & trans mounts are secured and good? What condition was the clutch when you did your swap? And when you say slow speeds, are you referring to slow engine speeds, slow driving speeds....or both?
  8. If it's just louder, I wouldn't be super worried....grinding noises are never real good though.
  9. I just changed the oil & filter on my GF's 05 H6 Outback. Yeah it took close to 6.5 qts to get it to the full line. Subaru used to list the oil capacity including the filter....but it looks like they may have stopped doing that, or screwed up.
  10. Yeah, I'd suggest checking the ECU for codes, instructions can be found on my site with the link posted above. I'd also suggest replacing the coolant temp senser. Does the car run any differently when cold vs. when warmed up?
  11. Actually the first gen legacies were a lot more "plush" or refined then the impreza line....and even some of the second gen legacies. Subaru cheapened things in the mid-90's to cut costs.
  12. It's possible the idle air control valve is sticking. On the newer models they are on the throttle body, and can be removed & cleaned pretty easily.
  13. Remove the air snorkel in the fender. That will help the air flow into the engine, and is a lot easier then drilling a bunch of holes in your airbox.
  14. Hmm....they must have changed things in 98 or 99. My 97 OBS still has the metal timing gears and standard idler pullies.
  15. Are you sure it's not just the throw out bearing? I'd suspect that before the input bearing. If you were to replace the input bearing, I'm not sure whether it would need to be pressed on or not. Here's a scan of the main shaft...not sure if it helps http://main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/MT_main_shaft_assy.jpg
  16. sent you a reply. check out these pics http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/injectors/
