  1. Just got those from subaruparts.com. I have a question about installation. Look like one side is smooth and the other side is rough surface(dimpled). Which side of the gasket should face the engine block??? The car is 95 ej22 dual port Thanks
  2. I am thinking adding one of the oil cooler from 98 EJ25 to a 95 EJ22 legacy. Is it a good idea? Would this setup help increasing engine life? Is it worth all the trouble? Thanks
  3. I had a tube of subaru OEM grey sealant and I used it a few times before, I sealed the oil seperator plate couple of days ago but I checked this afternoon and its still wet/tacky. Temp here was about from 38 to 50F How long is it for it to dry??? Did I used too much of the sealant? or could it be bad? Thanks in advance
  4. In my case, its the rear diff. I put the fuse in FWD socket and no longer winding sound.
  5. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I will get it replaced as soon as I can. My other concern is that the sealant/urethane around the windshield that installers use, I have seen the whole windshield poped out of the car during crash on youtube video, plus installer almost always use Chinese cheap windshield. My windshield is still original/OEM and never been replaced before. Also the weather/temp. hovering from 15 to 25F, how long am I suppose to wait before the sealant/urethane cured?
  6. I took couple of pictures, the crack is within the wiper range. Please advice. Thanks
  7. My 96 outback failed the inspection this morning because of the crack in the windshield. Its not in driver direct viewing area, its across from the top left. I will try to post a pic. Any advice? They told me I need to replace within 10 days of the registration. What happen if I cant? Never had problems in FL since no inspection is required. Thanks
  8. Mine wasnt working, swapped the motor pump and its fine ever since then. Good luck
  9. I just got this as an trade from a friend, but the auto trans is bad....I think. It will run for a few mins then it will act as its in N and if I let it seats for a few mins, then it will run a few min. Can anyone or know someone in NE PA know how to replace the auto trans cheaply? Thanks
  10. IIRC, it only has 3 bolts, but it does have a extra hole for some reason:confused:
  11. Did it act weird when the weather is hot? I had the same problem and its the driver side door lock mech switch.
  12. I have the same tailgate lock issue in MY 95 since I got it in 2002. I just use the driver side power lock to open it.
  13. I have the same problem as you described for a while. The car still drive fine except the whine noise. I checked/replaced the rear diff fluid and no change. I put in the FWD fuse and the noise went away, I suspect the rear diff or drive shaft carrier bearing is faulty.
  14. Nice Job:banana::banana: BTW, what type of scanner did you use to read the engine coolant temp?
  15. I have never seen one when I replace axles. Do you have a picture of the washer? Thanks
  16. Is it possible to upgrade the rear drum brakes of 98 Forester to disc brakes? Do I have to swap out the whole rear hub? If so what other model year fit? Thanks for the help!
  17. thats exactly what happened. I replaced the driveshaft and ever since then, the heat shield has been making all kind of noise. I went under the car this morning and find a way to lower the exhaust a little and so far so good. Thanks
  18. I am not talking about the heat shield thats part of exhaust. I am talking about the ones thats btw the exhaust pipe and driveshaft. MY 96 OB 5 speed, the exhaust pipe keeps hitting the heat shield. Can I remove it? Would the heat damage the driveshaft bearing? Thanks
  19. Thanks Mike What did you do to secure the relay? I couldnt find anywhere to hook and secure it:confused:. Now its just hangging
  20. I always wanted to check mine TPS setting as well. Sounds like PIA to take out the ECU. I did the adjustment on SVX and its much easier.
  21. I have not got the email/picture of the relay, but I decide to just try the relay I have (round metal with white plastc base) and I found the plug thats located behind the glove box(no need to take out the glove box, you can see it from below). I plug the relay in and now I have heated mirror:banana::banana:. Now all I have to do is to figure out where to secure the relay
  22. Can the rear camber on a stock 96 outback be adjusted? The rear left tire has a bad wear on the outside and I can hear some grinding or clunking noise doing more then 45 mph. I couldnt see anything obvious thats bent. Any suggestions? Thanks
