  1. removing the weather strips above the tires? I have seen a lot of subarus with rust on rear quart panel wheel arc next to the rear bumper:eek:
  2. Does it matter if both front cv axles are made by different manufacturer(different in dia of the cups, size and weight)??? MY96 outback 5 speed with 2 different front axles installed for some reason, its got a vibration when accelerate from 1800 to 2500 rpm at first gear, maybe the different front axles to be blamed???
  3. Thanks for letting us know. Can you provide a little more details? Like the color and shape of the plug? And what kind of relay is it(metal or plastic)? Is the relay made for mirror heater only or I can use the one for seat warmer? Thanks again
  4. I also have the same problem. I installed the heated mirrors and everything is plug in except I dont know where to activate the heat. I dont see any switch that will turn the heat on or off:confused::confused: Unlike the outback, the mirror heater switch is build next to power adjustment switch.
  5. I am intersted, but it will have to wait till mid April. Are those doors from 97? Mine from 96. How do I wire the extra door lock switches? Also do they still got original paint? Thanks
  6. Quick question. Will the rear hubs out of a MY96 outback auto fit a MY96 outback manual 5 speed ??? Thanks
  7. I noticed that there are 2 different designs on the dogbones. One with thick plastic, others with metal rod. Anyone know whick one is better to observe shock?
  8. The reason why I asked was I saw a subaru for sale ad on CL. It was listed as 97 Legacy L sedan with some pics showing white gauge needles. I know all the 97 to 99 outbacks have the red needles, My 96 outback and 95 legacy L have white needles. Still curious if 97 Legacy L sedan came with red or white needles???
  9. When did Subaru change the white needles to red ones in the gauge cluster on the Sec Gen legacy L sedan? Thanks
  10. Jusrt a suggestion, IIRC, someone here cured the missing problem by adjusting the valve clearance. Good luck
  11. MY 96 outback 5 speed with EJ22 does this as well, I tried 5w30 but it didnt help much, I just let it idle for couple of mins before I drive it every morning:)
  12. So I decide to pull the door wiring harness out of the car MY 99 OBW in the junk yard. Its not a direct retrofit since MY96 didnt have the central lock switch, heated mirror or the courtesy light, so I compare both and pull the wires out of the main plug and retrofit them that. So basically MY 96 OBW manual trans was NOT prewired for heated mirror and courtesy light:eek::eek: but I got them to work using MY99 OBW.
  13. For those who curious why I need heated mirrors in FL. The 96 OBW will be replacing the 95 that I used to go to MO & IL once or twice every year(moved down here couple of years now from MO) and some part of Midwest winter is just as bad as Northeast. So heated mirrors and seat warmer are great features if I can retrofit them into the 96 OBW. I did check the door wiring harness and coundnt find any pre wire for heated mirror on driver side. I did see the little black plug for the tweeter. Should I go back to JY and get the door wiring harness that come with heated mirrors? Thanks again for the help!
  14. Is the MY96 OBW come pre wired with the heated outside mirrors options? I found a 99OBW with heated mirrors Thanks
  15. I just replaced the trans and clutch on MY 96 outback. The height of the clutch pedal is higher than the brake pedal, do I need to adjust it so that its same as the brake pedal height? Or this is how all Subaru clutch pedals are? If adjustment is needed, how do I begin? Thanks
  16. dont know this on Subaru yet, but I used to have a 90 acura legend and it required a special tool to pop the rod in safely
