  1. Is the 2.2 engine from a outback sport impreza has the same bolt pattern( engine to trans) as the 98 2.2???
  2. Finished the project last week. Everything went well. The junk yard 97LGT manual trans works great in MY 96OBW!:banana:I have no problem converting hydro to cable clutch. Thanks again for everyones suggestions and advice:banana:
  3. Could be wrong torque specs(over tighten) on the lug nuts and the big long bolts by the rear hub??? I know a lot of SVX rear wheel bearings failures are due to over torque other then not replacing the shipping grease
  4. Is it possible to take the engine/trans without taking them apart from the top with hood removed??? How difficult is it? Can a 2 and 1/2 ton engine crane do the job? Thanks
  5. I did the search but came up with 2 different anwers:confused::confused:(black or green??? MY 96 outback 5 speed with ABS light on the dash, trying to find out where is the dignoise plug. I looked under the dash by steering, i still couldnt find the plug. What color is it? Thanks
  6. Just finishing putting a 97 legacy GT 5 speed trans to MY 96 outback. The exhaust pipe is robbing against the heatshield(alu thin heatshiled that sits btw drive shaft and exhaust) Did the exhaust hangar (on the tail section of the trans) that bolted to trans btw the two trans are different? 97 LGT could be shorter? Thanks
  7. I have an engine hoist but I dont know where to get the lifting chain for engine swap. I looked thru the harbor freight store and all their metal chain has disclaimer that its not for overhead lifting. So can anyone recommand the correct type of chain to use with a engine hoist for engine swap? Thanks
  8. I just got the kit from smart service for MY 96 Outback. I cant seem to find way to put them together, the retainer snap ring is somehow different fit from original. Did they send me the wrong kit? Any advice?
  9. I found a set of good front seats from 2004 OB, just wondering if someone here know if they will be direct bolt on for 98 forester? Thanks
  10. WOW:eek: What happened to the tail housing? It looks like it broke off somehow???
  11. I have seen them close and personal. Basically its the impreza wagon/outback sport with a classic face.
  12. Get ready to seal up the seperator plate @back of the engine. I brought a tube of Subaru sealant. How do I apply the sealant on the plate? Do I let it dry to tacky before install it? Do I need to torque the 6 screws/hex botls? Thanks for the help!
  13. Are those leather seats from 2000 and up legacy? Are they direct bolt on? What about the back seats? Thanks
  14. I finally fig out whats making the grinding noise. Its the front diff!!!! Dont understand why it will making noise only when the car/engine/trans been driving for a few miles. I did replaced the gear lube and it still making grinding noise when warmed up. Any advice? Thanks
  15. The engine got about 125,xxx miles on it. Its time for the timing belt change but the reason I didnt do it yet is because it has minor blow headgasket and I would like just to put a 95 EJ22 in it. The grinding noise is more like when you drive in reverse in a manual 5 speed transmission. I couldnt really think of anything to describe this noise. But its for sure temp related. I can let the engine idle and rev many times about an hour without the grinding noise. So far only way to produce the noise is to drive the car more than 30 mins. Maybe its transmission related???? I checked all the heatshields and found one thats a little loose, I bent it back a little to stop the rattle. I also checked acc.belts/pulleys/alternator, they seems OK. The crank pulley didnt grind/loss on the center piece of timing belt cover. Could the timing belt pulleys making noise only when warm up? What about the oil pump and flex plate of the transmission? The trans shift ok and the ATF has been drain and fill last week. Thanks again for all the suggestions
