Its mod list can be seen here: http://www.prjct1.com/tex.php Wheels in that pic are of course Zap's, not mine. Please do not PM me about where I got them As far as modded EJ swaps go, I think Suberdave is at the top of the list. He is one of my personal heroes.
  4. Am I doing this right??? Also, if you have ANY pictures of this car offroad, please send them to me. subarutex AT gmail.com I lost all my pictures a while ago
  5. You would think after the first couple motors he would have figured that out. Its like he tries to do everything on the cheap... but he HAS to have spent several thousand on the multiple motors. Reasonable ems sets you back a thousand maybe! Less if you really are looking for dealz. Why hasn't he tried swapping in a WRX harness so he could run a dirt cheap UTEC? I see those go for about $100 now! In my opinion the UTEC would be better than the PP6.
  6. AIC was cleaned by Smart Service. I know, cause when I took it off it I could eat off it. I cleaned the one from PAP pretty darn good aswell before replacing it. Tapping the old AIC would actually cause a change in engine idle, and it also read a out of spec resistance. The used ones resistance is in spec. Haven't tried cleaning the EGR...I will try that. However I don't understand how EGR would affect a cold start issue. My understanding was that EGR didn't start opening until the car was warm. Car and motor have about 130,000 on them. Its the best running EA82T i've ever seen up until these issues started. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor were all done less than 6 months ago. Car is getting spark fairly well. Seems to flood the chamber though pretty easily on starting... Like its getting too much fuel. Haven't looked at the PCV valve, I'll check that out.
  7. My brothers '86 XT Turbo won't idle when its cold, and frequently after it dies, won't start again. If you can start it, and hold idle till it gets warm, car seems to run great. If it helps, car is throwing a code 35. My research indicates this is for a Air flow meter, egr solenoid or circuit. 4 weeks ago when the non-starting started, we diagnosed a bad ground. Grounds under the passenger seat were getting wet and corroded. After fixing that, car would start, but now wouldn't idle cold. We replaced the CTS, because in my eyes, all the symptoms pointed to a bad CTS. The car took a trip to Smart Service, and they diagnosed a AIC valve being out of commission. So, since no new ones were available in my area, I replaced it with one from Pull A Part that tested good. To further pursue the code 35, I replaced the MAF, as well as the only solenoid I could find on the motor... presumed to be the EGR solenoid. What am I missing? What is causing this? I'm losing my hair and my patience.
  8. Yeah, i've never understood why he never did anything for engine management. A pp6 is hardly doing something.
  9. Not a bad link, but doesn't have what I seek. I need an FSM that has the 85-86 Flapper style MAF FI system in it. Bonus if its for an XT.
  10. bump it up. Looking at the car tonight, a FSM would be rad....
  11. That will do! I need to get this problem figured out ASAP.
  12. Still working on my Bro's car. Took a trip to Smart Service, got diagnosed, repaired part. Still same problem. Would like to have the engine section of the FSM. PDF is fine... is there one out there? I have an '87 one, but i'm concerned the differences are too great between flapper door and wire mafs.
  13. OMG, you're not building it for crawling. Just stop now. Will be cool if you get it done properly... even if it is just for giggles and poo. PS, i like the color. When your done give it a good polish. That gold flake will get the honeys to...
  14. Use carfreak as your inspiration... his fitment is pretty hot. Could use a little spacer in the back (or a lower offset wheel) to bring it flush, but for teh car... its the hotness!
  15. Just wondering if anybody normally travels from the north end (lynnwood/MLT area) to Olympia? I have a set of wheels w/ tires up here in Lynnwood that need to get to Rontiki in Olympia. I'd rather give someone here some gas $$ than deal with the hassle of getting these things to the shippers. Let me know if you can help!
  16. The modern ECU's should be good for upwards of 1000 flashes, if not way more than that. You can't fry (ie let them magic smoke out) the ecu by flashing it. You could perhaps corrupt the data on the chip and render it useless. Given that you have a 2nd ecu, go ahead and try it. I've met some very low IQ people (with sti's) that have managed to flash their cars, so I'm confident that just about anybody can do it if they follow the steps. For an experts advice, contact Dominic at http://www.getadomtune.com He is local to WA, but will talk to and help people from all over! He might even have a map to help get you started.
