  1. He extended the area behind the T-tops (where the targa stripe would be) by about 8 inches or so; its like the old nissan 'king cab'... - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  2. Sorry - this isn't old gen, but its for an old gen, to meet up with other old gens tomorrow... Mods - you can not delete this until around 9pm (pacific time) I'd be very gratefull!!!! *duplicate of my post from the MarketPlace* NEED BY TONIGHT!!! - EA-81 Passenger side front strut/shock - Willing to make trades or just cash and delivery would be AWESOME!!!! I need this so urgently for the HP run tomorrow - decided my shock was just too far gone for the trip... and I had some shocks around, but upon pulling my car into the garage - they're 2WD - WHAT??! Anyone somewhat local to Tacoma that could get these to me tonight???? Thanks in advance guys, hopefully someone can pull through - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  3. Are you talking about an "extended cab" style brat with dual t-tops or the front halves of two brats welded together like MorganM was talking about? I like the extended cab version myself - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  4. THATS WHAT IT WAS - sorry I was off, but I was mixing current setup with plans of the same guy... can't wait to see it btw... and would you ever mind parting with that deltoro and manifold??? - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  5. Someone can correct me - but I think Solo2soob has dual DCOE's on the customized manifold he made - that as most dual-weber as I think you'll find around here. - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  6. Gregg - Good lookin Brat there! Sure is good to see someone having fun with a restored car In your case though, I think brat stands for Bi- Range Airborne Transport - Erik - Tacoma, WA - (owner of restored 83 BRAT)
  7. Go to the Ultimate Subaru Image Gallery (accessed from www.usmb.net - its on the far right) and then click on brochures, and scan to your little soobie-learnin hearts content... - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  8. Well I use 5th on almost every commute, I may downshift for steeper grades - but if I'm at 60 or over, I do just fine in 5th in my lifted wagon - 80mph I think is still a tad under 4k for me. However, last time I took 5th up to around 75 on the speedo, it was about a 5k shift... hijacking my own post From what you say - it doesn't really make enough of a difference to worry about then... Thanks for the input - anyone else??? - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  9. I know the 80-82 GL 4spd D/R had a 4th gear equivolent to the 5th in a 5spd D/R. I have an 82 DL with a single-range 4spd, whats this ratio, is it good like the 82, or crap like the 83? Doing some musical chairs with transmissions at the moment, and I want the car with the tow-hitch to have dual range, the quicker/streeter type car doesn't need it. However, if the gearing sucks, I may as well go with the 'known good' 84 D/R... - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  10. I seccond spinners post... when I had it all apart to do my wiring troubleshooting, I figured that stupid inline fuse couldn't possibly be for the blower motor - figured it was for the hack-job stereo wiring that'd been done... why the hell would it be, in 82 they switched to push-in-fuses... grrrrr at subaru for that one. - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  11. My first two guesses would be lower center of gravity than other engines, along with compactness. - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  12. I think on a longer trip I went on I averaged between 29-30, and that included windy mountain highway roads, freeway, hills up and down in both siutations... Thats on an EA81 wagon with 5spd dual-range and 32/36 weber w/big tires, which is always loaded down to some degree (tools, fullsize spare on roof, speakers, gear, bike etc...) - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  13. The main reason he wont 'Un-un-turbo' it is because its not that he pulled the turbocharger OFF the EA81T - He replaced the EA81T with a N/A EA81. And adding a turbo to an N/A EA81 isn't exactly worth it from what I've heard. Running at its top - Yes, the turbo-motor would be faster..... but the reason the problems were able to be sorted out was because the whole system was made simpler. My analogy: Theres a good chance a naturally aspirated EA-81 subaru is faster than a jaguar of the same vintage... Cars that don't run don't go fast. (I know, am I a philospher or what!) :-p PS: Matt - Glad to hear you got'er going good and strong, should be a blast to drive with a 5spd and those little 13's, have fun with it. - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  14. Nice score man - good to see your doing well in the world of soobie-parts - I've had my share of pretty good deals lately as well... I guess I should finally post a gloat-post........ - Erik Hosa - Tacaoma, WA -
  15. 82 DL baby!!! Yup - 82 DL, 4spd single range...... currently no engine (out/apart), but I'm bringing this baby back from the dead and plan make 'er the envy of many a GL So you might want to cover an eye for this... its a 'before' shot.... looks better than it is (and is the 'good' side) http://usmb.net/gallery/album241/newbrat1 - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  16. 82 GL 4x4 Wagon: 4/3 Ozified Lift 5spd Dual-Range Tranny Weber 32/36 Hubs drilled to accept 'Yota rims (6 lug) Powerguard MT's on Yota wagon wheels Roof mount spare tire carrier/Factory winch bumper/Custom Rear bumper Club affiliation: Hatch Patrol? (I won't consider myself/ or even apply the decal until I've gone on a run with you guys... still take the HP stuff seriously) So try and keep me in the loop if there's some wheelin goin on Turning around up in the Mt's... - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  17. I'm wiring it as a standalone system so only thing to be affected would be the starter. But alas, I guess I'll just run a fuse - to be on the safe-side... thanks waste-land - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  18. Really quick (hope for quicker response) question - Throwing in a pushbutton start for a friend since his ignition finally bit the big one. Do I need to use an inline fuse for this??? - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  19. If it were a really dark color of brand new paint, and you planned on doing some cross-country stuff; I'd say leave it on. But that car is pretty enough in stock form. Car Bra's do have thier place..... dont make the cars look 10x cooler, but say if you're driving from Arizona to Washington in a fully restored classic car for a car-show... They're worth owning. I have one for my BRAT (notice I didn't say *on* my brat).... not a huge fan of the way thers all that open-space on the fender..... but ah well. - will probably sport it for road trips. I also agree in the fact that they shouldn't be left on all the time for fading/holding water/dirt etc... and those hood-only ones are beyond the normal standards of stupidity.... - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  20. Nice score!!!! :D - Them black ones are raaaare (I don't know the numbers, thats probably Corky's forte' - but christ, how often to you see them?!) That yard is quite a nice mix of subarus BTW - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  21. Yes - sounds a little off, that and on level I can cruise along in 5th and it keeps me up to speed, I sure as hell am not passing anyone (maybe that sorry soul in the VW bus but thats about it). Mileage... I dunno, this is a little mouse of an engine compared to my 5 liter, but I rarely have to fill up the 'cute' 11 gallon tank - and I drive it everwhere everday... (it has the parking passes for school etc..) - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
  22. BIIIIIIG Edit - You only live once, and I go to school 5/5 days every other week - in other words, I'm good till monday evening/night - I'll be bringing my mt. bike and most likely a friend. - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  23. Austin, who all is meeting you at work? Whats everyones general itinnerary? - Anyone else going sat night - staying most of sunday - heading home sunday evening to be back in time for school/work monday morning???? Heading back from somewhere like that (i personally don't konw the areea) with even 1 other car it's better IMO. And could you shoot me some good directions - maybe some adresses to mapquest?? If i'm not online - call me anytime on my cell, you have the # ahh hell - if you lost them, or anyone else needs them: 253 - 219-6722 : cell 252 - 759-6837 : house - Erik - Tacoma, WA -
  24. Austin, Matt, etc - we've spoken about this - but going to post so other people konw if its on sat. I can make it - and if I'm going to be there..... its obviously the place to be!!! Anyone else on a normal schedule like myself? - up sat night - stay overnight - play for awhile - head back sun-evening.... Technically makes no difference, but some are more comfortable in convoys to-from places... Can convoy back home with normal weekenders like myself sunday evening till it comes to a north-or-south point on the I-5 corridor (south for me). - Erik Hosa - Tacoma, WA -
