  1. Good choice for a first car. It looks like you keep it nice and clean. And remember: Chick dig Subarus. I am serious:banana:
  2. Are skid plates available for EA81 models? Thanks
  3. I've lived in PA; NY; CA and OR. I don't want to leave OR.
  4. Wasn't this Brat for sale recently?
  5. Not sure if this has been covered yet: Just saw the 2008 MY design; not a big fan. I like the 3 part front end; I though it looked aggressive. I don't hate it but I don' t think it really distinguishes itself from other manufacturers. However, I think the Impreza wagon looks like a Mazda:-\ What is the board's take?
  6. Not me. By the way, anyone know how to get a GL wagon from IL to OR for cheap? Just kidding, wasn't me:dead:
  7. Not sure exactly what is broken on your pipes, BUT I have kept all of my Subarus (7 car/ 15 years) by going to independent exhaust places and having them weld/shape pipe replacements in for the Y. I don't think I have ever spent more than $50 for a Y pipe repair.
  8. Congrats Richie.....now get back to work and fix my car!!!! Seriously, congratulations on a beautiful baby.
  9. Sorry to laugh at your expense; but that smackdown she laid on you had me on the floor!!!! She definately needs to be put in her place....but how???? I like the mud idea; maybe you and you friends can muddy up her driveway. Do you have a friend that can plow some snow in front of her drive during the night? There has to be something:Flame:
  10. Well, finally got it running again. Not sure what I did exactly, but I think it is most likely because I pulled/cleaned the plugs. I did replace the fuel filter, but most likeley didn't need to. Anyway, now I have a can full of 4 gallons of alcohol and 1 gallon of fuel mix. May put a couple gallons of this mix and run her to tne DEQ and see how she does. Thanks for the input.
  11. Well, just my luck.......I drained some of the tank; definately left gasoline in the tank; added 1 gallon of denatured alcohol; 1 gallon of gasoline; hasn't started since! AM I an idiot or just have terrible luck? SO, I drained the entire tank; added 1/2 gallon of gasoline; no start. Added 1 gallon of gas/alcohol mix, purge the fuel line; no luck. THis is on a EA81/EJ22 conversion. Does the alcohol trick not work on fuel injection? ANy suggestiions? Now I have a car that doesn't smog or start!
  12. And the Amtrak schedule....just incase they don't go on so easily:clap:
  13. That's a 10-4. Will report my results after Saturday....
  14. That is easy enough. Are there any negatives to running denatured alcohol for a short period? Does fuel injection make any difference? I am having DEQ problems but do not want to damage anything.
  15. Where does one get a gallon of denatured alcohol?
  16. Is there a name/part number for that fan setup in the picture? How much did the setup cost? Thanks, R. Augur
  17. Has anyone made the single rear fold down seat in a wagon seat into a split fold down:Flame: Pictures? Thanks
  18. Can somebody post info on this mudfest; the link is down and I would like to attend. Thanks, R.Augur
  19. I had a business client that owned a WRX ask me how the SVX compared to the WRX. My reply: if the WRX is a vodka and RedBull then the SVX is 20 year scotch. I believe the SVX to be a luxury GT, rather than a street/rally brawler. It's true that the SVX won't win many pink slips at the stoplight; but its beauty is on the highway when you are going 60 and decide to pick it up to 100 or so. That is where it really shines. I know a lot of people want the manual transmissions and all, but that was not really its intention. Even with the 5/6 speed, it is still a heavy car. Not really a street brawler. But a great touring car. My opinion
  20. I am surprised that with all the talented fabricaters on the board that I have never seen a T-top conversion on a wagon. Can it be done?
  21. So, you can HID the single lights but not the double?
  22. Just curious, why would you want to have less lights ?
  23. Are the doors and front fenders from all 1980-84 wagons/hatches interchangeable? I ask because I am not sure if the differnce in the front ends make a difference. Thanks, R. AUgur
  24. Do a search for the Subaru magazine DRIVE; they have an online version. They have 2 issues with stories/pictures of the Subaru museum. Some of the cars they have are: The Bonneville Subaru, a sick Gen 1 Brat, 360, and I think a concept. There are pictures and write ups in the magazine.
  25. My take: THe SVX is more of an experience than a car. I know that sounds cheesy but it is true. There is nothing like sitting back in the deep leather seats; stereo booming (they have great stock stereos) cruising 100 on the HWY. I am still amazed how inexpensive these cars are in the market; remember that this was $35k new. The fact that there were only 15k imported to begin with and a lot of people part them out as they become too expensive to fix. That being said, I would recommend that a SVX be a second car, not your get to work and and groceries vehicle. Also, be very selective in purchasing one, and don't buy one from a used car lot. These go at auctions fairly cheaply and these guys hae no idea what they are dealing with. I test drove one at a car lot and immediately I could hear the front diff grinding, the salesman tried to convince me it was the common Subaru CV problem and he would deduct $200 for a new one. I looked at least 10 SVX's over a period of 4 years before I bought mine. I had actually given up the search. I finally got mine from the original owner who had documented every penny that he had put into car. It was worth the wait.
