That rig will be sweet Scott! What size tires and lift size ect are you planning on using? Also I hope you will have some antlers off of a deer on the front hood to plow trees out of the way. Just kidding.I really can't wait to see it under way.

Something I did NOT need to know
Jerry DeMoss replied to Hotshot's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIn some cases that is totally true when you go to a certain area like: Boulder,Co and see quite a few of them driving around and I am not just making this up cause they usually display things very openly.Or if you are in Alaska and you are in Homer it is nearly the same case.

Best engine paint
Jerry DeMoss replied to FSRBIKER's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDuplicolor makes some good stuff.I like their hight temp stuff(rated at over 1000deg F)Just use their high tem primer and then the high temp color you choose. Then if you want you can hit it with some high temp clear.I have done this on ea81 valve covers and oil pans and it seems to be pretty durable.I would just recomend scuffing the surface up with steel wool or a green scotchbrite pad prior to paint.

Bearings for rear diff.
I have my rear diff apart since I am doing the lsd swap to 3.9.Just wondered if there is another option for the rear tapered bearings inside the diff other than a dealer item. The bearings on the LSD unit are not worn or showing excessive play, but I thought it might be worth my time to change them out.I was quoted $80 each per side for them! Maybe I am a cheapskate but I was planning on only spending maybe $40 for both.BTW I am redoing the seals also. Thanks

Brake question
Make sure you have enough fluid in the master cylinder. Also bleed the front brakes also just to be sure.I had to do the same thing when I did my conversion.

1986 GL 4x4 DR Wagon Good Deal?
Sounds good.Depending on miles you may want to weasel on down towards the 500-600 dollar range.

What is "highest mileage" world record?
A little tricky especially on a hill, but can be done especially if you are fast.

What is "highest mileage" world record?
I am pretty sure this doesn't top it but when I lived in Alaska a guy I heard of had 550,000 on his ea81 wagon.Never a rebuild just rebuild oil pump and water pump and kept on going.

Co:Spotted a yellow mid '70s coupe on Kipling.
This evening while traveling on kipling right around oak street I spotted a very nice looking yellow '74 or '75 2dr coupe at the stop light.Really looked like someone loved it and took care of it.Anyone seen the same car?I just wanted to give the owner a big thumbs up! I really have been paying more attention that I used to on the Gen 1's.Really want to own one some day. (BTW-The year of the car I am only guessing.)

What to offer..80 Brat
Probly the highest I would go is 600 cash since you said he advertised it for 800.I think 500-600 would be reasonable.I think it is a good idea to save that one if you can.I also may be getting a welder soon so I could help you there.
-
What to offer..80 Brat
I would go over there again and look closely at where they cut it.There have been a couple gen 1 brats at pns lately and if there is enough metal left on there to weld on to it I think it's worth it saving and just cutting the rear area off of another brat. I really thought it looked nice and I would probly settle between 350-400 if he could work with you.I would just emphasise on the fact that you will have to do alot of work to get the brakes right and also to weld in a new piece in the back.See if that works.I will help push it back over to your house if you get it.Also I have a set of gen1 alloys that I will give you if you get that one.

Pics of my new Brat
Looks well worth it!Nice score!

Engine #2... done I think
Man,thats too bad!I was really hoping to see a smokin' ea82t.I think the EJ22 na would be a good choice and plenty of power. But what about a ej22t?Still can get reliable power in the mid 200's.

best way to flush an auto tranny
Jerry DeMoss replied to rweddy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXUnless you are going to do a power flush like above described I would recomend using the specific seafoam stuff for auto transmissions before you change your fluid.Gets rid of deposites and varnish ect.
