  1. Noah makes a nice standalone "kit" aka wire harness.... belive he charges about 200 or so and you supply the harness, ecu, and sensor stuff.. I just got waterwagon running tonight, using the standalone harness!!!
  2. hehe... nothing like going from 170+HP in an RS to 65~HP in a Brat welcome to the board
  3. sounds good.. we will have to get a few parts.. and put the engine back into it too... I can try to get that done saturday... I need a few electronics for the intake, and the PS pump... and... ... lots of things probably oh yeah, a battery people are welcome to come hang out at the new monster garage episode- "waterwagon2, the ressurection"
  4. hmmm..... big maybe here... I dont need a tree (I use plastic trees :-p ) and that weekend is the motorcycle show at the qwest thingy... I dont know what day I will have for doing what.. but I will see.... at least the legacy has snow tires and it drives now
  5. DO NOT use stop leak of any kind.. this will clog up a subaru engine and or the radiator.. I know from experience.. get it fixed the right way, you will spend less time and money in the long run.... and I agree, its most likley a leaky heater core.. I replaced my own core in my first wagon- an 83GL, it took my friend and I about 8 hours, and cost about 80 bucks for the core from schmucks auto parts... after that the smell went away, and I had a warm and dry car
  6. would that work with a legacy 2.2 though? matt melon had a 95.5 impreza brighton, and it was ODBII, and it was even a 1.8... I just wonder if that would work....
  7. the plugs on the ECU and where they go to the engine, are completely different.. on the legacy the engine harness plus are near the battery, on the impreza they are on the other side of the engine near the tranny... on the ECU itself, there are 4 plugs on the legacy box, and 3 plugs on the impreza's (or something like that)
  8. passenger room, and Decent gas milage http://www.fl-sprinter.com/Pass/pass.html
  9. well.... I WAS running it with the EJ18 stuff, but its not working properly (not just the EGR stuff..) I have had trouble with the ECU before I installed the EJ22.. like a random CEL that would pop on and cause default mode to turn on.. at random.. very annoying... the select monitor brought up an "Idle system malfunction" but all related parts to the idle system measured fine.. it stumped the techs at Carter too.. and the EJ18 wiring does not have a knock sensor for timing advance... and.. the EJ22 cars stock have always felt way more powerful than my impreza did WITH the EJ22 longblock in there.. so something is messed up and I would like to get the engine and ECU matched up better.. and.. Emissions is due! :-\ it was not going to pass with the default mode coming on all the time... heck.. it barely drives that way... so a rewire is in order!
  10. hehe thanks Zap for editing my previous post (like the first page :-p ) havent checked on this thread after the old gallery went offline heres one I think people would like to see Chux knows about this place yes.. the car is actually floating!
  11. this seems to be the hold up for everyone... howabout we get a schematic compiled for the most commonly used years, and post it in the USRM? (or maybe sticky in this forum?) ya know, a schematic, a simplified one for the "plug n play" EJ miniharness
  12. thats easy for you to do that on an EA car... the problem I am having..... is that I am going to be trying to EJ-convert... an EJ car! aka 2 harness of equal sizes to deal with !!
  13. so i have been looking at the schematics Ive recieved from you (thanks!) but its still a diffficult task, as I would like to do as little removing as possible.. or splicing for that matter- idea I had, was to use the new ECU, and the new intake assembly with wiring, and use most of the existing harness... the thing I would do is to (first I need a schematic for a 93/94 impreza with an EJ18) make an adaptor to go between the correct terminals on the ECU connector to the harness side.. (aka, make an ECU adaptor) and any of the wires that are not in the EJ18 harness, I could run seperately (eg. knock sensor) to the engine.. as for the Engine side of things, I would do the same- I would just make an "adaptor" or maybe just hack off the engine plugs and install the correct ones that would work with the EJ22 harness... any thoughts? anyone have an 93/94 impreza FSM I could borrow? Corky? (I dont really want to have the "rats nest" under the hood again if I can help it :-p ) oh, and I also am interested in buying/trading for an EJ22 stock Y pipe and related O2 sensor. thanks again!
  14. have fun guys! sorry I cant make this one.. impreza that doesnt run kinda wont do so well offroad lol!
  15. you are correct as always- they are different.. thus the reason I got a different intake manifold (from what I have been using) *with* the corresponding ECU and wiring harness :-p I am basically going to have a seperate harness for the engine, as it will be mostly stock legacy parts there.. and the existing impreza harness will just remain mostly unused/spliced into? I have to figure this all out.. but I am using a 91ish legacy motor and intake/electronics so the wires are all fubared up :-\
  16. nope... i would have been all over that if they did.. in fact, I havent seen an EJ22 impreza at the lynnwood yard... ever? (I know they have had them, but all the times I have gone there, none to be found :-\ ) but they have a whole bunch of pre-92 legacys!
  17. thanks chux!!! I better get right on this now and start the wiring!
  18. Weellll.... so I got a harness and intake and ECU from PAP for a score of a deal at 31 bucks but.... now that I got the correct intake manifold on the EJ22 in my impreza.. I need to splice in the new ECU... I am not doing a full harness swap, due to it being an impreza and splicing in a legacy harness... a non complete one too (I did not grab the dash components, just the harness between engine=ECU=fuseboxes) I am wondering if anyone has info on the pinouts for the ECUs, specifically the EJ18 in a 94 impreza L MT5 AWD wagon, and a 91 legacy L AWD 4EAT wagon.... or.. the simplified harness for EJ-EA installs? (kennedy?) it sucks that I have to do an EJ conversion on a car thats already EJ! but its dead now, so the ball is rollin!!! Need to get it running soon, as it needs to pass emissions before the end of OCT to be licensed.... (and the sooner I get it running good, the sooner I can finish the offroad mods and play up at reiters/EC ) let me know if anyone has this I can get a copy or borrow, or? thanks!
  19. I think you should have those headlights on the probe looked at.. they arent opening up all the way.. they must be broken!
  20. I would like to go, but.. the imp has to undergo some more mods and repairs.. before too long, I will need to rewire/ECU the whole car.. (probably dash and wiring removal and reinstallation) and.. I still need to work on more of the offroad mods that I had mentioned to you and noah- hpss2 sounds like a definate must have this winter
  21. oh man.. i keep putting off coming over to visit you and take some measurements of a certain driveshaft.. Zap, you around in the AMs? I have work from 2pm to 11pm... but my mornings are free....
  22. do not get outback SPORT struts.. those are impreza struts and will be shorter or same height as what you are trying to replace.... they need to be OUTBACK LEGACY or forester struts I used 99 forester struts in my imp FYI lotsa lift
  23. if they ordered correctly (that would be my first assumption on a shop, aka they probably ordered a part via vin #, in which case you would just end up with the same as before...) or.. the guy has no idea what he is talking about and is just not understanding... but I would think its the wrong part ordered.. have him look at the new strut and the old strut side by side, and check the length of the base of the strut.. there should be about an inch or 2 more length between the camber bolt holes and the bottom of the spring...
  24. yes... the planets will be in alignment, and there will also be a solar eclipse that same day just kidding;) I think I have some plans that weekend.. although I dont remember what they are
  25. my friend keeps a collection of old subaru keys with him... and unless its a new lock in a subaru, he has so far been able to open all the subarus he has tried with at least one of his keys
