Sorry, I should have said drift PIN punch.

I do not have any true drift punches. I find them useless, and yes, they would become stuck too.

All of my drift punches are technically drift pin punches. No taper, at all.

Ya, the one's that I used were not tapered at all and still got stick. I'll get it out though. :)

Go from the other end with a smaller punch?

I did that and it didn't work. I just threw it away and got another stub. I just about have it all back together.

I guess you wont have to worry about getting that punch stuck again now lol.gif

I know, but I still have to break it off so I can take it back to Sears and get it replaced.

So I got the rear disk brakes and the lsd installed now. Hopefully this weekend I'll have the transmission installed. Then I can put the interior back together and snap some photos to post.

Put the handle end of the punch in the vise and beat down on the cup with your bfh!?

So yesterday I got

-The brakes bleed

-Transmission installed

-e-brake cable installed

So this week I'm going to

-Install the exhaust

-Put the interior back together

-Have a new windshield installed

It's alive! I drove it around the other day and guess what. Reverse pops out of gear just like the last transmission before I totally blew it out. I'm really close to having all the interior put back together then I'll snap some more photos.

I'm wondering if it isn't a problem with the shift linkage itself or just another bad transmission.

i am betting linkage ...cheers, b

+1 Mountain Grizzly like that... I had a specially bent (hammer and vise) :) shifter I kept reusing... te damn plastic bushing/coupler didn't like the beating though....

Got the new windshield installed yesterday. Next I'm going to paint the bumpers.

Did you do the windshield? I would really like some details if possible. Any rust in the channel or cowl area you had to deal with when the windshield was out? New gasket or re-used? Thanks, Great Project!

New gasket, no rust and I didn't do it myself. I bought the windshield from Brain & had M.S. Glass come over and install it.

I'll have some photos up this weekend. Lots of them.:)

Great! Can't wait to see them. I am about to go through this on mine. Did they use any urethane or anything on the gasket or install it dry?

Well it's been a bit since I updated about the BRAT. I really haven't got much finished since the last post. I've been working on other people's projects (Head Gaskets on an 01 Legacy Outback, Heater core & heater control valve on BRAT, struts, brake pads & rotors & both front axles on my 98 Legacy Outback). I think I can finally finish up the BRAT now.

Next I'm going to work on getting the bumpers painted with some bed liner, then install my winch.

I hear you there I have been working on all sorts of projects and working full time otherwise, it's hard to finish up my own stuff.

Can't wait to see the bumpers finished they look like they are built extremely well.

I'm making a ton of progress. I think I'll hold on posting photos till after the wcss. Right now I've got the gauge cluster swapped, bumpers painted, cargo box in the bed, and GM alternator installed.

OH come one.....why you gonna be bogartin' like that yo.

:popcorn::cool::slobber:

So the point of the GM Alt. swap is more amps? Whats wrong with the stock soob

  • Author

More amps to power the fog lights and all of the other accessories better.
