May 12, 200421 yr Here is a link to a picture that I took of my 86 Turbo Sedan, with some JDM STi wheels, I wanted to see what they would look like if I used them for my 5 bolt conversion. http://corkysrocks.net/86STiWheels.jpg
May 12, 200421 yr There kind of out there aren't they????? spark I think he has them laid up against the wheels already installed on the car. *BOINK* I couldn't tell if you were kidding or not.
May 12, 200421 yr Hey Corky, I'm not sure if it is the case with these wheels, but I saw some JDM STi wheels on ebay a while back, that were 5x125 lug pattern, not the 5x100 that the 5 lug conversion uses.
May 12, 200421 yr Those rims are nice; I vote DO IT BTW tell your friends to quit parking their ugly chevy's so close to your subaru!
May 12, 200421 yr Damn Doc, I say go for it! That sedan is exactly like mine minus the stickers. I want some rims now. (I actually have been wanting some for a while but had a different set in mind)
May 12, 200421 yr Author The wheels are JDM STi wheels from 94 to 96, they are 16X6.5's and they are a 5X100 bolt pattern. And yes, they are just laying up against the car, wasn't trying to fool anyone. The problem is that the tires on them are not US models and can't not be legally driven on US highways. There are only two good tires, so I'd have to buy new tires. The problem with that is that I should finish my project car this Summer, then I'll be selling this car. The wheels and tires would add over $1000 to the price. Anyone willing to pay me $2300 for this car with those wheels and almost new tires?
May 12, 200421 yr Ha, that happens to be his Chevy Those are very nice wheels, why dont you hang on to them for a while. I know of a car that they would look very nice on
May 12, 200421 yr There's a good chance those will not fit on your car without a spacer. I don't know what the exact offset of those rims is, but it's probably around +48-53. Somewhere in there most likely. Our offset is +42, so a wider wheel won't fit. For instance, Pugs fit because they only have a +20 or so offset. In Australia some people have 5x100 adapter plates for such a conversion. The thickness of the adapter makes up for the width and offset differences. I've never seen them though, only read about 'em. Here's an example of converting to a 6.5' rim with a +50 offset - Clearance from strut housing to inside of wheel = 27mm LESS Extension of outside edge of wheel = 11mm MORE
May 12, 200421 yr Author Well, since I'd be using an Impreza strut, knuckle, and brakes up front, I'm sure it will work in front, but the rear is question able. I had a set of wheels with a +48 offset on UltimateRX (my first 4 to 5 bolt conversion) and those wheels fit fine.
May 14, 200421 yr Corky - That's the first time I have ever heard of tires not "legal" on the road. A tire is a tire isn't it? (with the exception of preformance capabilities...) Kurt
May 14, 200421 yr Author No Syrinx, they have to be DOT approved to run on US roads, these tires are not DOT approved.
