January 23, 200521 yr what this thread still exsists? wow i thot i mentioned msefi to ya at wcss6 noah as far as i know if you leave every thing else intact and just by pass the injector harness and run it <with the dropping resistor> to the ms box and add the extra sensors requierd for the ms box then the ignition should be fine

January 23, 200521 yr WooHoo! I am now! At least the fuel part of it. I've still got a little tweaking to the tuning to do, but it runs much better than the OE stuff. As soon as I can get the EDIS wheel connected, then I'll start working on that side of it. It's pretty easy. A weekend project if you buy a prebuilt MS. Hey OddComp, Is there anyone else using this setup and driving around with it as a daily driver without any issues?
January 23, 200521 yr well mine is the only full on msnedis setup i know of and it worked great only problem i had was the sudden demise of the transmission i think i will have time next weekend to finally work on it what with all the drama here finally cooling down and this whole whole buying stuff going thru finally been spending most of my limeted free time keeping the turbo minivan running i did not realize it was in such not so good shape until i started driving it alot but the good part of the blown tranny is 5 speed swap spider intake swap intercooled hks ssqv b.o.v no actual failures of the ignition or injection system when i ran edis alone and stock fuel i put well over 500 miles plus a trip to wcss6 and back on it then logged about 300 or more miles on the full fuel and ignition i do however wish to belive the demise of the stock 230k autotragic was related to the gains from the full on fuel and ignition changeover since it happened almost right after i went and hooked up the fuel side
February 16, 200521 yr I didn't get a chance to read through all of this thread, so maybe this has already been covered. Aside from the Escort, the Zetec-equipped Contour also uses EDIS-4, so there's another possible junkyard donor for you. The '95+ Ranger with the 2.3/5 is also an EDIS-4 setup, but for that application the EDIS module is actually imbedded as part of the PCM. The crank pulley and sensor however would be useable.
March 13, 200521 yr bump to the top, cause with a new motor that actually runs, well we'll see once i get a few parts, i'd like a more sealed ignition for the off roading.

May 18, 20169 yr A few people have done it. Best thing to do is research it. Check out www.diyautotune.Com they have a small write up from WJM's old RX on there. I'm actually almost finished with a MS2 v 3.0 system with a Ford EDIS6 ignition system for my ER27. I chose to buy it and assemble it myself so a new soldering station was in order. Still waiting for a family member to make me an aluminum crank pulley to mount my trigger wheel to. I also plan to eventually use the stock distributor as a cam position signal for coil on plug operation.
May 22, 20169 yr I'm getting ready to order a megasquirt kit. There are lots of options. Can folks describe the Options they are using? Wideband / Narrow band, external gauge? MicroSquirt / Megasquirt? Knock sensor? Flexfuel sensor? MAF + Map? Thanks!
May 23, 20169 yr MegaSquirt2 v3.0, MAP based, knock sensor, PNW idle control valve, and an Innovative LM1 wide band 02 sensor setup. Since I'm running the EDIS6, I also needed to mount a crank trigger wheel and crank sensor. Check out www.MSEFI.com

May 18, 20205 yr Got thinking as this fell into my hands from either a Focus or Mondeo taken out of circulation because nobody could supply an accelerator cable - so, it got the snip There is no room to tack a trigger wheel before or after my EA82T crank pulley, and be a bitch to set up, secure a sensor.... What about mounting a sensor securely, out of harm's way on the bell housing, reading off Fuji's timing mark location - the flywheel ! You know, drill a 6 mm hole in bell housing, set engine to TDC#1 drill further, squarely into flywheel. Set engine to timing reference of say keep it to Fuji's 20° BTDC on #1 , drill again into flywheel Then you'd need some clever than me to CNC machine the 36 teeth or grooves into flywheel taking into account location if drilled holes... sort of thing enlarge hole first made in flywheel to fit crank angle sensor.

May 18, 20205 yr Yeah you could do the fly wheel setup. Range Rover did it this way with the P38. So it can be done you might even be able to use one of these rings with the tabs on it for the sensor to reference, or use it as a template. Another thought, can’t fit it inside the recessed crank pulley front face? Cheers Bennie

May 19, 20205 yr Used to be a lot of UK guys doing this to all sorts of once-were-dizzies style cars 36 teeth with one missing is simpler than Subaru three finger wheels and 36-2 style One tooth for every 10° Sounds like fun to tune Shame can't just jump to that stage

May 20, 20205 yr The cam drive cog has 36 teeth If one could have a tooth knocked out, shaved down and mounted to crank pulley machined to fit...taking up the unused V groove.. I get the feeling a sensor needs longer teeth to read correctly Now see why those who have done aftermarket control have used the optical dizzy - I think it has 360 tiny slots in its breaker wheel. Better accuracy than 36-1 trigger wheel for certain
