January 28, 200521 yr If it doesn't snow, I might be doing the rear disk brake conversion on my 85 DL this weekend, and would like to upgrade the soft (on a couple of levels) hoses on the front at the same time. This is really more of a generic brake line question, than a transplant so: can I just go up to the local NAPA/Auto Zone/Advance and buy braided stainless brake lines off the shelf? What am I looking for anyway, a banjo bolt on one end and a 10mm fitting on the other? Any help with how to describe what I need, or where to get it would be a huge help. Thanks. - James B
January 28, 200521 yr No banjo bolt fittings. They have female fittings at each end of the softline. ID is 3/16" WJM has the hook up on the stainless steel bolt-on softlines but any brake warehouse/shop can hook you up too. I had custom softlines made at a local brake shop.
January 28, 200521 yr yeah talk to WJM he had some avl. a while back. I got a set from him and never had time to put them on. still sitting in the garage.
January 29, 200521 yr Still have them avalible. JWX has information on using these same lines on the REAR DISC EA82 cars.
January 29, 200521 yr Will, did you perform the install on your rear lines as well? No. I lack t3h $. JWX is mr money bags and did the rear lines. Fronts are a 100% direct bolt up.
March 11, 200620 yr Will, are there any sets of these still around to be purchased? Looking for a set for my wagon.
March 11, 200620 yr Call 1-828-210-3623, ask for Kent (thats his direct line, he should answer it, Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm), and ask for the TWR SS line set.

March 11, 200620 yr all 4 lines. all hardware for the front. The back you need a slightly shorter banjo bolt, or double washer the back and make sure it doesnt leak. these sets are designed for WRX and all other EJ subies. However, I have used them on EA's perfectly.
March 11, 200620 yr i should call on monday. my pedal is plenty firm, i just need protection from pads catching on fire.
July 28, 200817 yr these sets are designed for WRX and all other EJ subies. However, I have used them on EA's perfectly. So could I just buy a set of WRX front and rear lines from my manufacturer of choice and simply bolt them on?
July 29, 200817 yr So could I just buy a set of WRX front and rear lines from my manufacturer of choice and simply bolt them on? Basically, yah. I have them in the fronts of my RX. Not the back yet.
July 29, 200817 yr pretty sure the rear EJ lines have banjo bolts like the front. so I don't think they'd work on EA subies.
July 29, 200817 yr I have Goodridge WRX front & rear SS hoses on mine. In the front where it goes through the strut it is a little too big, so the clip doesn't fit perfect...but it works. In the rear there is no mount for the center attachment, so I put some rubber hose over the SS hose so it wouldn't rub on the attachment point. The banjo bolt on the rear was no problem, I used the ones included in SS hose package. I lightly sanded the sealing surface on the caliper and it bolted together, no leaks, no problem.
September 16, 200817 yr I have Goodridge WRX front & rear SS hoses on mine. So your's just bolted on without many mods? What vehicle is this on?
September 16, 200817 yr for what it's worth, I had a complete set made for my wagon at a local hydraulic shop. I brought them complete junk rubber line sets from the junkyard - 1 front, 1 back - and said "make me these from SS." Oh yeah, and I added 4" so I wouldn't have to fink with adjusting my lifted wagon's brake line brackets My set cost me around $100.
September 16, 200817 yr So your's just bolted on without many mods? What vehicle is this on? Yes, just the mods I listed. The car is an '88 GL-10 wagon with rear disc.
