diluded000 Posted January 28, 2005 Share Posted January 28, 2005 If it doesn't snow, I might be doing the rear disk brake conversion on my 85 DL this weekend, and would like to upgrade the soft (on a couple of levels) hoses on the front at the same time. This is really more of a generic brake line question, than a transplant so: can I just go up to the local NAPA/Auto Zone/Advance and buy braided stainless brake lines off the shelf? What am I looking for anyway, a banjo bolt on one end and a 10mm fitting on the other? Any help with how to describe what I need, or where to get it would be a huge help. MorganM Posted January 28, 2005 Share Posted January 28, 2005 No banjo bolt fittings. They have female fittings at each end of the softline. ID is 3/16" WJM has the hook up on the stainless steel bolt-on softlines but any brake warehouse/shop can hook you up too. I had custom softlines made at a local brake shop. The back you need a slightly shorter banjo bolt, or double washer the back and make sure it doesnt leak. these sets are designed for WRX and all other EJ subies. presslab Posted July 29, 2008 Share Posted July 29, 2008 I have Goodridge WRX front & rear SS hoses on mine. In the front where it goes through the strut it is a little too big, so the clip doesn't fit perfect...but it works. In the rear there is no mount for the center attachment, so I put some rubber hose over the SS hose so it wouldn't rub on the attachment point. The banjo bolt on the rear was no problem, I used the ones included in SS hose package. I lightly sanded the sealing surface on the caliper and it bolted together, no leaks, no problem. I brought them complete junk rubber line sets from the junkyard - 1 front, 1 back - and said "make me these from SS."
