when did they stop round headlights? were there any on hatchbacks? or just brats? when did they make the dual range 4speed. thanks in advance

They stopped round headlights when they went from Gen1 to Gen2 (82 and up are square)

The hatchback Gen1 ones are round too.

I'm not sure about the tranny, I think they started putting them in 1981 when they switched to the EA81 engine.

Hatches had round headlights on the DL or standard series till at least 87. Gone by 89.

I thought Brats had the large rectangular and dual small rectangular only! I don't recall seeing a gen2 Brat with round lights.

yeah, the early 80s had round headlights... my '88 hatch has dual squares.

the STD hatchbacks had round headlights up until 87. Hondasucks had one but it got totalled His also had the 4-speed in it too

Yep - that would be a STD (lower model than the DL even) grill on Gen 2's - they had 2 sealed dual beam's that were round - DL's had 2 sealed dual beam square's, and GL's had the 4 square single beams sealed lights. And of course as stated - all Gen 1's.

and for the Gen1's(77.5 and up), DL's had the single large round headlights, and the GL's had the dual round 4.75" rounds.

 

77 and earlier just had the single large rounds on each side.

There is only one Gen II Brat with round headlights that I know of.

By the way I saw a totally cherry white STD rolling around The Dalles Oregon today... I swear the driver was a girl I used to go to college with too :cornfuzz:

well, could you ever have dual round headlights with a center light, in a gen 2 hatch? would it fit?
