That's certainly different from the ea82 hitachi that just happens to be sitting on my desk next to the computer.

looks almost like a carter-weber single barrel, or the older single barrel hitachi thing... i have one sittin in the parts pile

hey its totally diffenent from all 3 of the ea82 engines i have so id have to choose ea81. if it just between those 2 engines

It has the old style choke heater and the newer vacuum secondary so I'm going to guess it's an '82 EA81. Not sure if it's for manual or automatic transmission

its dual.

with the plugs, it has a quite a few pins in there, like its a feedback carb?

Looks just like the two feedback 2 bbl EA81 Hitacihi's I have sitting here. My wagon used to have one, and so did my parts car. That one looks really nice - never used?

it's definitely NOT EA82 or a CARTER/WEBER, the giveaway is the anti-dieseling solonoid on the front, and looks too simple to be a feedback, and I just got done fixing a carter/weber on a 84 sedan with a stuck float and full of varnish

I believe its an 84 or newer ea81 Hitachi carb.

I agree with that. Infact my car originally came with that exact one (84 EA81 wagon 4wd). There were some models of the EA81 hitachi that have the dual choke diaphram setup. Specifically they had these on 84's when californias smog requirements got tougher. curse this envirnomentally friendly state! :-p If you need parts for it just ask.. got them all over the place..

Looks identical to the one I just pulled off my 83 California smog automatic Brat. So I do have to say that it is indeed an EA81 Hitachi.

That's either a DCP-306-24 or a -26. Both have that style of vacuum choke pull-off. The 24 is a feedback version, and the 26 is the non-feedback.

I've become quite intimate with the Hitachi's over the last few months. Rebuilt the one on my Brat about 5 times before I figure it out and got it right. Done my homework on this one!

Yeh that looks exactly the same as the hitachi on my 90 brat cept mine a bit dirtier :) .
