Mod, please move this thread to Historic section, posted in wrong area, sorry!!! Thanks

Oooo, that is nasty! Are you planning on repairing it or scrapping it? I'd hate so lose another brat to rust, but if its too far gone, so be it.

*sigh* my brat is well on it's way there.....

I have never been known to give up easily sooo yes it will get replaced if I can find an inner fender or repaired either way it's getting fixed. Might have to duct tape it for the time being LOL :brow:

Wow! That is some bad rust Trudy.:( Hope you can save it. Man sure glad we don't have rust issues like that in California.

that is an absolute shame, that was such a nice brat.

i remember when that one was on ebay i think?

AZ brats rock:headbang: if you can find a rust free one in the $500 range, it might be worth shipping, and you will start out alot further ahead, saving the headaches of bodywork, but thats me:brow:

ah, that ain't nuthin :)

ever look at a vw rabbit with rusty strut towers, or holes in similar area you can fit your fist?

and they still get repaired

and the seat rails always rust out ;)

The upper wheel well area is a typical rust area on all Gen 1s. It will be interesting to see the posts on this!

(I have talked to Trudy on the phone.)

That's nothing, definately not worth scraping a car over. They tried to put mine on the lift a Tire Discounters for new tires, and they couldn't. They were afraid go through the floor. Then they jacked each side at a time an went through the rear passenger floor anyway.

I completly agree. There's some small shop not far from anywhere that'll make it solid.Forget about making the underside to perfect factory restoration.Phooeeyy!!Make it solid and coat it with tar. You're in VT!!!

Get some more miles out of that thing.Main thing is to keep it going, and enjoy the heck out of it!!

From the sides it'll always look great.

Keep some poor guy busy.Take it around or take the pics and see what they'll do for you.Worth a shot,to me.

If you just simply don't want to bother for any reason I'm sure one of us would consider it.:brow:;):)

my first xt6 was in much worse shape than that brat, but it was close to me, so I cut out the rusted remnants of floor, and welded in new metal

all's well that ends well and such
