November 13, 200322 yr i just got a new spoiler and i was wondering what everyone of where i might put it. i want to know what you guys think. FOLLOW THIS LINK
November 13, 200322 yr I think you know what I mean. Actually I hope your joking because, to me spoilers look like junk. Bill
November 13, 200322 yr I like the old school style rear dust deflectors, but I'm thinkin' maybe get another one and mount both of them vertically on opposite sides of the back side windows, or maybe three, one in the stock place and the other two vertical, kinda surrounding the back hatch
November 14, 200322 yr Author no bill, i am not joking. i like the unique style. nobody else in town has a wagon w/a spoiler. i really like to make fun of the ricers too. so, it's for deflecting dust? cool, now i can say i put one on for a specific reason. ha
November 14, 200322 yr Author i'm really leaning towards putting it on the hood near the windshield. i just think it looks cool. i was hoping i would get at least one person who was all for it. if i don't have the balls, and don't wanna risk the extreme look of the hood mounted, i'll just put it on the rear where it belongs.

November 14, 200322 yr Author hahahahah. not the type of replies i was looking for, but is subaru entheusiasts can't appreciate it then i can't think of anyone else. i'll probably thank you guys later though.
November 14, 200322 yr All kidding aside, the factory spoiler mounts are the only place that thing will even look remotely cool.

November 14, 200322 yr Author i'm just gonna pound the mounts into shape so it will fit. it's a gen 1 spoiler. i decided to put it on the back. i'll do a good job and take my time so it looks good. i'll post pics when i'm done.
November 14, 200322 yr you'd have to make the wing bigger before ricers would get the joke. To them a 3ft tall spoiler is not exaggeration, it's just cool. They wouldn't get it unless your wing is at least 6ft tall On a serious note, I wouldn't mind seeing it on the back, maybe mount it under the front pan to create downforce man those are the slowest loading pictures in existance
November 14, 200322 yr Actually it's a Gen 2 spoiler - just like the one on my wagon.... Your wagon would be Gen 3 I guess. GD
November 14, 200322 yr I think you should get 3 more and mount one on each rim. It would create just enough sfetzer force to give you the edge you're looking for.:moon:
November 14, 200322 yr i would say above the rear window. for one that' wing is actually for an 8a81 WAGON. two, it helps keep dust and rain off the rear window when going down the road three, i wish i had a wing on my wagon! at least you can tell the ricers that your wing actually HAS an aerodynamic function that ACTUALLY WORKS "My spary paint will waste your decals!"
November 14, 200322 yr Author yeah, it's from a gen1 wagon. i have an ea82 wagon, the one in my signature. i'll probably just put it on the back because it sounds like that is where it would be most functional. i like the hood concept, but i'm rarely going fast enough for that little bit of air to make any difference. and i think i'll just stick with the three footer so i can fit in with the ricers. maybe a fart can too. or a couple. ha sike. i hate that sound. thanks everyone for the input.
November 14, 200322 yr The only cosmetic modification I have considered (besides the spare tire power bulge hood idea) is a two-tone paint job sort of like this: I'd remove the cladding and do the bottom in black Herculiner and the top in flat O.D. with a wavy border in between going just over the top of each wheel well. I won't do it too my wagon because the paint is still pretty nice....
November 14, 200322 yr you should get three and mount one on top of another and then mount it to the back of you car....then you'll be makin fun of the little ricers:D I took a wing off of a gen 2 (84 wagon) and put it on top of my 79 wagon and it actually looks pretty swwet while having that (I have a spoiler the right size) look:brow:
November 15, 200322 yr paint that spoiler with some hammerite and put that ****er on the back next to the hatch back..
November 15, 200322 yr If you look at my avatar pic you can see how it's supposed to be. I got mine off a hatch, I don't know if they came on wagons. It definitely helps the back end sit still(er) at speed. Keeps the rain off when you're moving also. It does add some drag and eats an mpg or two. edit: It doesn't show up so well on the thumbnail, but you can see the full size pic in the USMB photo albums. Page 5 under FERTHER, the deep sand pic shows it best.
November 16, 200322 yr Author Originally posted by torxxx paint that spoiler with some hammerite and put that ****er on the back next to the hatch back.. whats hammerite? is this some freaky alskan sh*t or what? what exactly is it? a rhino lining so to speak?
November 16, 200322 yr OMG, you own a soob and you dont know what hammerite is? its the best spray can paint available.. its paint with I think is fibreglass in the paint so it goes on thick, and when it dries it turns to a nice glossy coat. You can get away with 2 coats of hammerite and it will last about 10x longer hten Krylon or any other kind of paint. $3.50 at Napa or Shucks Originally posted by MaroonDuneDoom whats hammerite? is this some freaky alskan sh*t or what? what exactly is it? a rhino lining so to speak?
November 16, 200322 yr No, it isn't some funky alaskan sh!t. its just heavy duty spray paint. Kinda expensive, but can take a beating and high heat. great for painting under the hood and such
