  1. You can't re-torque them. The final value for the bolts is not a torque value - it's a degree value. So how are you going to check this? The dealer uses the wrong gaskets on these engines. They should be using the 642 or 770 gasket. Expect failure again within about 40k miles. Nothing you can do about it. GD
  2. I think is a potential problem by retorquing them.
  3. Horror show , comedy , tragedy ( geez let’s hope not ) , suspense for now. Thriller later. yeah buddy !! Ill do my best to take a break and some pics. That new main timing cover - oh baby ! So sexy !!! Piece of crap old bolts holding it on. Looks like a swimsuit pinup gal in work boots.
  4. Sprayed another coat of base yesterday and then the clear today. So happy with the color and how the paint turned out, having never painted a metallic base coat before I was a bit nervous. Now there's only a few things left to get sorted out and I'm eager to get it on the road! Fresh Paint by Luke Hoffman, on Flickr Fresh Paint 2 by Luke Hoffman, on Flickr
  5. Possible. But much simpler to use flat stock. Go a little thicker than OE, and it should be fine. 3/16" would probably be perfect.
  6. Usually one up front and one out the back under the tray. Stick with it. These are great runners once sorted. It does seem like a carb problem and I'd also check the distributor shaft play as suggested by GD (bush replacement in dizzy). All the best with it! Cheers Bennie PS: it could also be a weak fuel pump too.
  7. There is a 10 amp fuse in the engine bay that controls the dome light and door switches. Probably blown. Check again for codes. O.
  8. Got the basecoat layed this afternoon, color looks really dark in the shop but when it's in the sun or with good lighting it lightens up a lot. Body In color by Luke Hoffman, on Flickr Close up by Luke Hoffman, on Flickr
  9. After block sanding the first coat of high build primer I found some more low spots and body lines that needed some more work so I did some more filler work to get it ready for another round. I also painted the brake calipers black and almost finished rebuilding the rear cv axles but I still need to do the boot clamps. Hopefully I'll have the car block sanded and fix any last spots that need attention so I can spray the basecoat soon.
