  1. What year that has only 60k has a replaceable fuel filter? Because if it's old enough to have that, then it's far past the scheduled maintenance on the timing belt (10 years). GD

  2. They’re also used as a dampener if the strut comes close to full compression. Good if you’ve got a loaded vehicle on rough tracks, and has been great on my lifted L series that doesn’t have extended swing arm bump stops... I doubt you’ll need them on your 2wd. Cheers Bennie

  3. Your kid just put a car into a ditch and so you buy them a NEW Forester? I'd start with something you won't miss if it gets wrecked...

  4. Yea, winter traction is all about PSI between the tire and the ground. Reducing the tire's width, reduces the square inches of the contact patch, therefore increasing the PSI. You also want the tires to flex, so the more sidewall the better. The exact opposite of summer traction. If you were to spec a winter tire/wheel set (through Tire Rack or similar), they would recommend the smallest wheel that will fit over the brakes. So if you get enough snow to justify a winter setup, that's something to consider.

  5. It was just the thermostat seal leaking a little. A new one solved that mystery. quack quack quack.

  6. If you just replaced the radiator, strongly suspect a loose hose clamp.

  7. man, i would not haul around motor oil for weight. a sand tube or two. no mess if the leak, and sand for traction if needed.
