  1. No, I think it’s been modified for aviation use. The EA81 bell housing looks very similar to the EA82 bell housing Cheers Bennie

  2. It’s definitely been a while! Started college around then and just haven’t had the time to do much wrenching. Sounds like I’ll tear it down and post it. Worst case if it doesn’t sell I’ve got spares for the brat.

  3. no. put it up for sale right now and give it 6 months or a year. see what happens and let the market tell you. if you want $200 for it, won't disassemble, won't ship, and won't spread it across various venues for exposure it's not likely going anywhere any time soon. ; if you disassemble it, sell it for $50 and ship it - maybe someone will jump. if you're not willing to disassemble it to sell the guts that further constrains the value since it's unlikely to find a local buyer, you'll need to ship more than likely. yes - someone could look for one in a few years, maybe stumble on this forum, be close enough to get it....but that's highly unlikely. if you want to stash it away for that roll of a dice maybe, then sure have at it.

  4. First and foremost stop throwing parts and hoping it’ll fix a problem. Is your CEL on? If so pull the codes and report back. Have you done a tune up using quality plugs and wires? I’d start there. Acceleration issues can be so many things including the fuel pump, clogged cat converter, and many things inbetween.

  5. I think you need to identify what the noise from the engine is - if it’s a shot tensioner then replace it! The valve knock is really valve knock? It doesn’t sound like the engine is as dead as others seem to make out. If you’re going to do suspension work replace the struts with forester units as these will provide some lift. Someone will know what springs to run. Lift blocks can be added later. There are a few mobs that do lift over your way to choose from. Otherwise Subi Lift Oz over here can ship internationally All the best with it! Cheers Bennie

  6. Yeah it's a forum rule - if you post it in the "For Sale" forum. This isn't that. Honestly I don't look there but someone else would have LOL'd at it I'm sure. That's ridiculous.

  7. Still the push button single range it came with. Idk if I off road enough to make it worth the effort, although, there is a relatively good amount of snowfall here so possibly worth it for winter time driving? I wouldn't think so but I've been wrong before. Thanks! I did the 6 lug swap after reading many of the posts on here. Went to the local junkyard and picked up some 15's from a late 90's Honda Passport. They ended up being the perfect offset and stick out juuuust enough. I've owned rare and peculiar cars before (Scirocco, Corrado, E30 M3) but haven't gotten nearly as many people that stop me in a parking lot (to talk about how they used to own a GL and that they miss it...) as I have driving this car. Idk what it is about this car and the Subi community in general, but it makes me feel right at home!

  8. 2-0430DL Duralast U-joint from Autozone. Greasable, Lifetime Warranty, like $20ea. You'll need a dremel and a press to get them apart, it's a finicky job, for sure, but not terribly hard. Just make sure to mark all the parts so they go back in the same orientation. I did both joints on our '04 Outback in August, and have put about 5k miles on it since then. I just did the rear in my '00 beater Outback (I had both joints, but my dremel quit, and I was running out of time so I only did the nasty one) a couple days ago and then put 500 miles on it. Or look for a driveline shop. We have 2 here in Duluth (not a huge market, so I assume there are places like that everywhere) that can do them. I know the one shop here sells the joints for like $35ea with a basic install (no balancing).
