  1. Some of the pop top construction used the roof as a mold. Trying to make it look like there is no poptop! Here is the wood Frame for the shell and the metal frame for the car with the lift mechanism, befor install.

Naturally I speak not of cutting your beautiful car, I'm saying we each buy a beater but driveable 1st gen and then head to our respective junkyards with sawzalls and cut the roofs off those! Then I'll have a touring wagon clone and you will be the only aussie with the low roof First lemme talk to my friend in the navy see if we can arrange some discount shipping haha! Ok I got time for some craigslusting lol! And you are indeed correct the alpine sport grille is pre face lift

  5. @sparkyboy yeah all of our wagons are the “high roof” model, we don’t have any flat roof models! The Oz delivered RS turbo is an EJ20G with a water to air intercooler. The bonnet scoop is purely for air flow over the turbo, which really isn’t entirely necessary. We didn’t get the EJ22t. The EJ20G is the first of the EJ turbo engines with the DOHC heads, although the RS heads are a different design to the wrx heads... And the RS wagon ONLY came out in a 1993 model which makes it a series 2. The grille you’ve offered looks like our series 1 style which won’t fit without changing the bonnet and possibly the headlights (is need to double check this). Thanks for the offer but keep it on the wall as a good memory of your old ride! It’s good to hear the EJ was “re-homed”. @Giles - you been stuck in the shed mate?   7. That's nuts. In a shop environment we have no time for such foolishness. The bolts get tightened, the fluids get filled, and the key gets turned. As quickly as can be accomplished. We have a near zero return rate with regards to leaks from RTV sealed components. Ultra Grey is alright. Though it pales in comparison to 1217H or 1217B. GD

  8. Check the fuel inlet filter under the banjo bolt. Check that the throttle body is tight.There is a screw underneath that comes loose.

  10. Good news that it was running so recently. It does appear that the carb may be empty because of a stuck float. First thing to try is tapping the float bowl with a soft hammer type device preferably with the fuel pump running. That almost always works.It might stick again though. You may have to take the top off to see what is going on if that does not work.Nothing to lose. You don`t have to have a new gasket from a carb kit.I didn`t have one. As long as the old gasket does not break at a strategic location,it is reusable. Worst case,you would need to make a gasket w/some punches and a xacto knife. The carter weber gasket looks simple enough,I`ve made more intricate ones. Base gaskets are a piece of cake.

  11. Thank you so much for the warm welcome! Also thank you for the information, i didn't know that L series stuff won't fit my hatch. Hatchback currently has ea81 in it and ea71 as a spare in trunk (with twin carburetors). I haven't had time to pick up 4wd transmission for ea81 from the previous owner (i spoke to him about month ago to see how he was doing, he is 80 year old man who was sad he could not longer drive a car due health issues). But it will be big trouble finding rear end for it, i live in Estonia which is a really small country in Europe and here are almost NO old Subarus. I checked the vehicle registry and there were only 2 Leones and 1 Brat registered. Hatch has a mint interior it looks like brand new, i will try to get some pictures next time im visiting my country side house. I chose to build this L series wagon because doing projects the right way is time consuming and expensive (my main project is 86 Volvo 740). I had pretty much lost all my motivation to work on cars (hadn't done anything to my Volvo over a year) so i wanted to butcher this wagon together just to get my motivation back and work on it with no pressure. Since mice had eaten the wiring and ive always wanted to build rally style dash, i finally did it: Since the car came with no seat belts, i want to put in a harness so i built harness bar for it: Floor was really rusty so it was a challenge, i welded in some new sheet metal for the floor and added 6mm thick metal plates for the bar to mount. Transmission mounts were totally shot, one was broken up and transmission was super loose. I got these rubber mounts form hardware store and managed to make new mounts with exact same dimensions. Don't mind the purple paint, it was only paint i had in garage to prevent metal from rusting Today i got drum brake cylinders from rockauto. My order comes from 5 different warehouses so im expecting 4 more packages and brakes are done.

  12. Dumbest thing I did was take my roof racks off at a manual car wash station..........and forgot to put them back on before leaving. I didnt realize it until a couple days later.........uh oh. But, I thought I should go back and hope for a miracle they were still there. Luckily, they were still where I sat them down......days later. What a lucky SOB I was, whew!

  13. Picked up and installed 87 XT seats in my 91 RS.. the stock seats had to go and I'm trying to get to as close to an XT6 as I can, just trying to re live my high school days lol.

  14. There are DOZENS of clutch companies. None of them are "people" And I have seen many cheapo, weird looking TO bearings in Chinese kits. I never said anything about Sachs. Nobody has. Nobody mentioned a price either. What's yer point? YOU were the one who said you had to return a Sachs kit. So what is your point in saying they aren't garbage? I don't get it. Anyhow, the OP said a clutch set for a 97 legacy. The first pic of the "old" bearing looked to be one of the odd cheap Chinese bearings I've seen. Now, the OP has disclosed his trans is from a WRX, which would be a pull type. I'm not sure how that's working with a push type hydraulic unit the Legacy would have. But clearly, he is talking about a pull style clutch. To the OP, you will need to return that Legacy clutch and get one for a pull type WRX 02-07 IIRC.
