  1. that looks great! What about rhino liner on the lower grey part, that would be tough!!
  2. HA HA HA HA HA !!!!, Bring the Brat up to the WCSS this summer I'll bring the welder, grinders, spray gun, etc. (there will be power there) and we'll do some serious hardcore shadetree chopshop action!! Hell, while we're at, lets make it converetable or maybe a dump bed!! I'm still getting over/through mine. It really wasn't that bad, lots of cutting wheel/grinder action, a little sawzall, a little welding and grinding. The bondo and paint hides all sins!! I do think it's worth it to get the motor to sit down as low as possible, the brat is not a handling machine but the lower the center of gravity the better btw: there are new assorted photos in my album of some of the clearance issues I had and how they have been solved such as the "up a little more" pipe for the WRX turbo..... http://usmb.net/gallery/garners-sub-a-rama
  3. I made one for myself and am trying to figure out how to get them made at a reasonable cost. I can make them myself, GMC (garner manual control) machined, for about $150. WJM, Hope you're disposing of the cat crumbs properly.....I'd rather cut (and weld) than crumble.... garner
  4. So, do ou know what said relays control? If I am right I believe 2 may be High beam relays and the other. any ideas on the other do-dad? btw, I thought you you were coming through eugene sometime but had to postpone. Let me know if you do get down this way garner
  5. So I'm pruning down the EA82T harness in preparation to merge it with the Brat harness. The FSM is failing me. The coveted wiring diagrams have no color codes and seem to be inaccurate. Is there a better wiring diagram available for an 85 EA82T? Maybe with wire colors indicated and pin-out diagrams for the connectors? In the mean time, who can tell me what these two do-dads are? Relays I assume but maybe you can tell me which ones? The pic with the four round relays(?) seems to have come from under the dash and the other is two relays and a fuse or breaker type thing labled 15A and seems to have been under the hood (rubber boots over the relays and it's sort of dirty). Part of my difficulty in this is that I got the harness in a box, a very large box. I didn't pull the harness so I have very little knowledg of where things came from. I am slowly untangling it and identifying connectors and cutting out anything I don't need (lights, horn, AC, etc). what are these damn things thanks in advance for your expert advice garner
  6. I know this is still a cut, gut, reweld operation but I think it is far superior to the pulverize method. This is a WRX down pipe but I'm sure the technique could be adapted. Note: The material in Cat converters is somewhat harmful to humans especially when turned to dust and most importantly should be disposed of safely (take it to a muffler shop) Heavy metals are bad for ground water... PS, oddcomp.. send me a trigger wheel, we'll work on the EDIC!
  7. Welcome Ausspeed, A couple things come to mind For pistons and rods check these guys http://www.paeco.com/ pretty $$$$ but they sell forged pistons, quality con rods etc. They have a lame website but I bet a phone call could get you some answers. I have their most recent catolog and could do some research for you if you like.. Not on your list but a lot of us EA82T guys are putting reground cams in our beasts they are done by Delta Camshaft http://www.deltacam.com Search around here for performance EA82 threads, it's becoming a hot topic. And do keep us posted on what you come up with. garner
  8. Yes Factory, well sort of.... I've done some mods (check my sig), it's in the brat but as of yet I don't have everything hooked up so I haven't been able to test anything... The EGR delete was the suggestion of the board when I switched to a spider intake which has no provisions for EGR. I removed everythin and pluged the hol ein the cylinder. The evap is not crucial as far as I know and it's removal really clean the engine bay of loads of hose. The aux air is said to reduce emissions during cold weather start up by leaning the mix, but shouldn't affect the run quality. What have you tried that didn't work? garner
  9. Martin What kind of problems? I've used spring compressors in the past and had no difficulties, tell us more btw, that was almost a great Canucks game last night ehh? DOooOoo garner
  10. Hey EA82T Folks, I'd like to get an EA82T specific survey going about what emissions do-dads you've given the heave-ho and which seem crucial. For my purposes, I live in a part of the country where there are no emissions tests so I can get away with murder. But I do want it to run well. Thus far, I have: By-passed the EGR system (spider intake required), Ditched the evap system, Aux-air who needs it? How about you....
  11. Yes ! I am looking for a valance for a quad headlight front end. As straight and rust free as possible, mine is whack!! You know, the Brat valance is unique, wagon or sedan won't work... I guess we're sort of off topic here but I started the thread so.... I'll get you a set of rotors. Hopefully, I'll get to bajavwsoobnutts and can meet you there or we can hook up at the rally some where. give me a phone # so we can hook up....
  12. anyone know what the bung on my crossover pipe is for??? come on EA82T owners
  13. smotocon1, When converting my mpfi to spider, I had to ditch the EGR. I just pluged the hole in the head and everything else went away.... Im not sure the egr is you problem but it shouldn't hurt to get rid of it.
  14. Are you serious or... I bought em at ESP (Eugene Service Parts) I could bring some up north next weekend if you really want em..
  15. The difference isn't really trim level, it's body style. The TS is the Wagon version of the RS which is the little brother with of the WRX Effectively, they have the same suspension. The RS does not have WRX suspension though it may share some parts. Between the TS and RS, the parts might not be identical but the differences are made to accomidate the slight weight distribution difference. For example, the TS has and even smaller rear swaybar than the RS,(both are way too small). Bottom line is that they handle about the same. The 04s all have discs. I have one and totally love it, It handles as well as an RS and I can put tons of crap in the back IMHO, the 02-03 s (bug-eye) are so much more attractive than the 04 honda accord looking front end garner
  16. Well, I replaced the front rotors on the Brat while I had it up on jackstands. I went to my local parts store and got "generic" rotors for about $20 ea. I was please to open the boxes and found they were manufactured by Brembo!! It's not just the WRX guys that can get the massive Brembos (well except for the massive part) for their dope rides Now I can display my Brembo decals on the Brat and not be a poser.
  17. Hey Dennis, Why does your MPG suck so bad? I mean, I know your going for performance, not economy but 13.5 is like a Hummer(on the highway) So, you added an o2 bung to the WRX downpipe? What is the bung on the stock EA82T crossover/uppipe for. I was so certain that thing I removed was an o2 sensor but everyone, including the FSM indicates one o2 sensor. I have yet to find any reference to this mystery sensor and I am starting to fell stooopid garner
  18. Ok, I'm a moroon! What is the bung on the crossover pipe for? Mine had what I assummed was an 02 sensor that I pulled of and trashed, ( it was totally beat up). the bung is the same size or really close to the o2 bung on the downpipe and faces the drivers seat. What was that thing? Anybody know what I'm talking about? garner
  19. Damn, I thought Jason was my secret contact. They are the place for cheap genuine SOA parts, they have stuff in stock and it's next day delivery via UPS groung to Eugene.
  20. hey guys, I knew I wasn't the only USMB member going.. I wish the spectator schedule was up but I'm guessing Saturday is the big day and just a few stages on Sunday. Anyone have any info on it yet? I am not sure what my plans arejust yet. Depending on how early they start on Saturday, I might come up Friday night. Maybe swing by Bajavwsoobnutt's b-day blowout (If I can invite myself?) Bajavwsoobnutt: I might have some FSM's that you want, email me maybe I'll cut you a b-day bargain on em.... Caboobaroo, unfortunately, I won't have the Brat running but I can bring some morew pictures from the swap.... I'd also like to hear what you're up to with the EA81TT project, sounds pretty nutty.... Look forward to meeting some of y'all... garner
  21. Thanks Nutt, excellent links I looked everywhere for mandrel bent tubing but never found these sites.
  22. Subarutex, So, do you still have an O2 sensor right before the turbo on the crossover/up-pipe and one (that was added) on the WRX? or did you plug the bung on the crossover/up-pipe? Perhaps I should add two bungs to my downpipe, that's good thinking BTW, I really look forward to seeing your RX this summer at WCSS
  23. Ok, here's the deal. I'm using a WRX downpipe on my EA82T and unlike the EA82T downpipe, it has no O2 sensor boss. Do I really need to add one so I have the stock 1 on the up pipe and one on the down??? I guess I don't really understand why the EA82T needs two, or maybe it doesn't..... please advise garner
  24. I bought a gen 1 brat windshield molding for $30 from a local auto glass company, they even had it in stock!!! I'd just call auto glass outfits and see what they can get for you garner
