Removing trim on 87+ EA82's?
styles, I bought a cheap set of "trim removal" tools from harbor fr8. they work like a charm but you need to put some tape on one side so as to not scratch da paint.... garner

Question for the TD04 people
No, Thats a very good thing!!!... for a while anyway..... Actually, I'd love to know what the limit is. If you find out do let us know....I'd probably wait to turn the boost up until I got a few more miles on the break in (this is a new rebuild right?) btw your wagon is looking pretty pimp these days not quite subaru_styles but atleast your's runs garner

Question for the TD04 people
Ah yeah, I remember that sound, pretty freakin tough sounding eh.....if not a little obnoxious..... I have a GFB MBC in line but its turned all the way down. I boost to 7-8 psi just like you stated is stock wastegate setting.... Is the wastegate getting signal off the output of the turbo or somewhere else? I can't comment on the vacuum deal as Delta cams really seem to through vacuum off.... garner

Front bumper brackets of "historic" 4WD
Those don't look like the front bumber brackets on my 79 Brat (4x4 duh) On the Brat they are kind of a sheet metal T shaped piece. Sort of designed to crumple a bit and let the bumber plow into the front Valance when the previous owner tried to use it as a push vehicle garner

What's Up with Gen 1 Air Conditioning?
doh, I'm a morron.... didn't think to search a forum that is so new.....could have just looked a little closer to the thread list..... Thanks for the info Todd. If I remember correctly I have a "Lone Star" system. It all makes sense now that the whole system looks like an after thought. I need to take a look and make a list of the parts that I have that are AC related. Since my Brat has taken a "non-original" route there are lots of bits left over that need to get into the hands of purists (my next one will be bone stock restoration I swear) pm me about the evap and cond. garner

What's Up with Gen 1 Air Conditioning?
I am under the impression that Gen 1 Subarus did not come from the factory with AC and that it was added as a dealer option. correct? On my 79 Brat (quad headlights/round speedo and tach I don't know DL/GL) When I bought it it had AC with the exception of the compressor and reciever/dryer. I had no desire to try to rework it and get it running again so I remover all the AC related stuff and replaced various interior parts with non AC parts. In the process I took a good look at the AC compressor bracket which looks basically like a home made part. Alot of the other portions of the AC system are also very "Non-OEM" looking. The odd thing is that the heater/AC control panel looks pretty much factory.... I guess I'm just curious about what is known about AC on Gen 1s. Were AC kits built up and shipped to dealers to install or was it a totally independent install? btw, like I stated I have basically an entire Gen 1 AC system minus compressor and reciever dryerif anyone is interested in AC on their Gen 1... garner

Fiberglass Parts
I just looked a little further at the showcars-bodypart.com website. check out this page http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/subaru.html kind of hard to decipher but they seem to have a lot of body parts for subarus, especially gen 2 and newer. best to call them up as they are not really an "e-commerce" kind of place. I think the guy I taled to there was named Tom. Hope that helps. They are in Canada but on your side of it atleast. garner

Fiberglass Parts

Fiberglass Parts
I don't mean to be a pain but why are we discussing fiberglass parts for an 86 brat in the historic forum? In terms of fiberglass parts, fenders at least for GEN 1 Subarus, very hard to come by. There is a place in Canada that has various body parts in both fiberglass and steel http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/ when I was looking for fenders for my gen 1, he quoted me $500 shipped... luckily craven pointed out a set on ebay and I got them for like $250 shipped AdamNDJ was talking about doing fiberglass body parts but I don't know what came of that. garner

installed a mbc and still only 6 psi
this may be part of your problem, some of those are crap. The adjustment screw on the ball and spring versions need to be cranked in quite a bit further than you might think. depending on the spring they used in it, there may only be a couple turns of the screw between say 6psi and infinate psi. Try turning it in further. You can take it off and blow through the "in" of the MBC while adjusting the screw to get a sense of when it starts to restrict airflow. If you are uncertain about how these things work check out this sight http://www.geocities.com/chmwatson/FAQs/mbc.html garner

Can my RX compete in Stage Rally? Going to the Oregon Trail to see what's doin...
sure you can!!!! Need a co-driver? (hint hint) If it were me, my concerns would be in this order Roll cage Brakes tires suspension skid plates I wouldn't worry about power until everything else was dialed mostly the driver I'm sure a bone stock EA82t powerplant would have plenty of balls to scare the crap out of you on a stage rally. DO IT!!!! garner

WCSS7 collector's glasses poll
Damn, democracy is hard. I have made my choice based on some feedback in this thread and my own desires..... Etched Pints it is. Going to have to try a few different logos to see what works best for the process. Hopefully the artist(s) of said logos will not mind me tweaking them to make them work..... garner

WCSS7 collector's glasses poll
Yes, a real poll would be helpful. So far etched pints are in the lead. It might not be too big a deal to do both pints and mugs....we'll see garner

WCSS7 collector's glasses poll
Hey Gang, I have volunteered to handle this years glasses for the WCSS. I need some opinions/feedback. Please respond to the following questions in as concise a fashion as possible..... 1. Type of Glass: Mug or Pint Glass? A lot of folks, although very fond of their WCSS6 Mugs find them better for storing change or bottlecaps of simply sitting on a shelf. To me, pint glasses would get used almoast daily. 2. Type of "decoration"? Sandblast Etched or Screen Printed? Sandblast Etch pros: Cool, 3 dimensional logo or graphic, customizable, ie you can have your name on the glass/mug Sandblast Etch cons: Expensive, design can only be 1 color and not too detailed Screen Printed pros: Multiple color printing, more elaborate and detailed graphics, inexpensive Screen Printed cons: No easy way to customize with name 3. Which logo do you like from this thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32579&page=1&pp=10 In terms of pricing, I'm just estimating right now but heres my guess Mugs Etched with name $15 or so Printed without name $9 ish Pint Glasses Etched with name $12 or so Printed without name $7 ish let the opinions and 2 cents throwing begin..... garner
