  1. Actually , it's 72-77 rear glass. Super Beetle and regular beetle were the same glass. Todd
  2. I also know the VW front washer/sprayer, (that goes in the hood), will work nicely on the Gen1's too. I have replace all 4 of my Gen 1's. You just have to aim them higher. I now have a nice pressure stream, instead of a drip! I'm curious if the VW door side rubber may be just as adaptable?????? Ideas? As these cars get older and less unique parts are available, we need to address alternate applications. I think we should develop a database of alternate applications! (Kinda like what the 360 owners have done.) Todd
  3. Mike: This VW application is for the rear, hatch glass. NOT the 1/4 rear side windows. Just want to clear up any confusion. Todd
  4. Ok...it's official! The replacement for the rear window/hatch rubber weatherstrip is the one that fits the VW superbeetle rear glass! I installed tonight in my 78 DL. It was a perfect fit! The "Cal-look" is wider and works better I think. No need for the "reveal" molding then. My original was pretty dry and brittle. You can get these strips for next to nothing and they are plentiful, as VW has everything aftermarket AND from the Mexico factory. I am so pleased that there is now a replacement, as many of these Subis have leaking or bad seals. So pass the word to those Gen 1 wagon owners! Here's one place they are available. http://www.westcoastmetric.com/ Todd
  5. Here neighbor: I'm over in Euless. My roomate and I did a 91 Legacy Lsi last summer to 134A. It was a bear! 3 bad rebuilt compressors, till we got a good one. The Calsonics do not rebuild well I am told. Congrats on getting the job done! http://www.pbase.com/txguy/subaru_legacy Todd
  6. Ok...I'll pick some up and give it a try! Thanks!
  7. 1. What direction is the transfluid from a 3AT running in. (Out from the fitting near the torque converter to the radiator and back in the other one?? I'm confused. 2. If you are going to wrap a steering wheel with a leather sew on cover, what's the quickest and easiest way to fill in "cracks" prior to wrapping?? Thanks guys! Todd
  8. Paul...whose wagon is that??? Yes , get that car! (Did you get my phone message?) Todd
  9. I think it's the poly collar. I'm ordering it to find out. It's pretty cheap...SURPRISED ME! Todd
  10. No problem....I'm just the defender of the Gen 1 bashing! Todd
  11. Paul....$200???? Come on. That car is rare! I just had a $2500 offer on my 78 AUTOMATIC wagon yesterday! Someone near where I work stuck a note under the wiper! You know better than to start me on this!! Todd
  12. Ok....I get this "knocking" kinda sound in the steering shaft when I hit a bump, or at 60-65 MPH. The steering is tight, new outer tie rod ends, (it aligned perfectly), new lower ball joints and balanced new tires. The steering wheel does not shake or vibrate, driving or braking either, but even a bump at low speed and you can hear the "knock". Even if I hold the wheel firmly at 60 mph, I still hear the "rattle/knock"!!! Now I do have some 1/8" spacers on the wheels, bacuae I'm using Loyale steel wheels and they rub with out the spacers. I'm thinking it's the steering shaft universal joint?? I even replaced the steering wheel.....same noise. Help! Ideas? 78 DL 2WD wagon. Todd
  13. I have 2 sensors on the left tower. I checked all the lines today and reset the ECU. Light off for now. My shifting is a bit funky 2nd-3rd. Which one did you replace, the one toward the engine or toward the side of the car? Thanks Todd
  14. Russ....you have been working hard! Pics look good! What is the advantage of switching? Are you panting that yellow again? Let me know what I owe you man! Todd
  15. I got this code from AutoZone on a late 1995 Impreza (OBD2) 2.2 AWD. "PO106" "MAP/BARO" "CKT" "Range/PERF" That translates to: Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance Problem It was in the computer twice. Any ideas? Car runs fine. Passed emissions with flying colors with CEL on. Regards, Todd
  16. If you pass....let me know. I'll look into making an offer and tow it to Williamsport for a car when I go home! Got pics?? Todd
  17. Wait a second......"no one wants a gen1 Brat". "They are giving them away in good shape on the bay"???????????? I beg to differ. I've seen some nice prices on eBay recently!! You guys really upset me with these type of comments! I could say some things about Gen 2s....but I'll "bite my tongue". Let's just say, I choose to not own any. I have 5...yes 5 wanting my 1980. 3 wanting my 79 wagon. I also get plenty of emails loooking for these vehicles. " very little rust", 78k original miles" sounds nice to me!!!!!! I can get you a buyer for MUCH more than $200!!! Let supply and demand work! Tell the guy to place a message on here with his contact info. Try eBay!!! Better keep $200 a secret or you will have competition! I have a coworker doctor friend who wants a Gen 1...he said he pay what was needed for a nice one! Folks, let's not offend each others vehicles with comments like that. Esp, when the statement is not true. I'm growing weary of defending the Gen1s. Getting a good price is fine, free is better. But lets refrain from the comments that "my cars" are not nice or desirable in the marketplace! Thank you, Todd
  18. When I have stored for long periods, I siphon the full tank out and replace with fresh gas. DO NOT run 2 year old gas through the car. The problem then is what to do with the old gas!! I have heard of people draining the tank, leaving the cap off and also opening the service panals. That allows cross ventilation to dry out tank. A dry tank won't rust either. A full tank keeps moiture out of the tank as well. Todd
  19. Remember that the car might be fine towing, but the brakes are NOT designed for the extra 2500 pounds. Does the trailer have electric brakes? Be cautious with stops and hills. Avoid stops and hills if possible. Todd
  20. I found that the cable had partially pulled of the back of the speedo! I pushed it back and and it's fixed! (I love the easy ones!) Todd
  21. Here's what I have: Both Imprezas 1995 2.2 AWD automatic OBD2, Yes OBD2, late 1995 = (1) 16 pin, (1) 12 pin and (1) 6 pin 1995 1.8 2WD manual OBD1 = (2) 16 pin only. Todd
  22. The (3) 2.2s I've owned have all had some "occasional", lite ticking at the crank sensor when cold. It's not valve noise on mine at all. My ticking is a high tone, electrical "snap". I guess it will depend on the quality and location of the ticking to determine the cause. Todd
  23. I got your email. I have both a 2.2 95 Impreza and a 1.8 95 Impreza. I will look at the connectors tommorrow. I'm currently at work. Todd
