the hardest part of the lift
Thats was the worst part for me too. I had to replace the struts a while back and had to grid every thing all overe again to get it all back together. It sucked Jeff

Tire size without cutting fenders?
I have 15x10s on my brat with 30x9.50x15s and a four inch lift, and they still rub like a mother. I even hammered back the fender and everything, to the point where the doors don't close right. Jeff

Gen one brat w/ 1800
The body is in good shape, someone on acid painted it thoe, but it is straight. I guess it needs a CV axle and some other stuff, but Its nothing I don't have just laying around. I'll get a pic up as soon as I can of the new brat and the other blue 78 brat I'm putting a motor in. This will make the 7th or 8th Brat I've had. wow Jeff

Gen one brat w/ 1800
Well i think it could be hard to get them all over there but I know the lifted one is coming for sure if I go, and the XT6. I give the rest of them to my dad. He'll love that, he already wants all the others out as it is. Jeff

Roll call for Jared's get together!
I'll talk with all the boys and see what they are up to do. My Brat is still kinda out, but i'll get it going. Qman I got your pm I'll probably go and wheel for a while but we had a little bad shot of that place the last time we all went down there. We ended up leaving the hatchbrat at bobs house in wilkison and the teal wagon had a "gas gauge" problem. but count me in I'll be there one way or another. Jeff

problem with my lift
I used a 4" block 4"x2" and bolted from the bottom and to the top (frame). 2 bolts and 2 nuts for everyone block. Jeff

problem with my lift
You think I should weld the blocks on to the "frame rail" Or would that kinda stupid. Jeff

problem with my lift
Thats the weird thing I have no rust on my brat. Its like torn open like a can.I'll have to get some pics, but the front under side of my car is toast. Plus my lift is homemade and I was the cheif engineer in the whole deal that could have something to do with it:grin: Jeff

problem with my lift
I don't know how I did this, but I was out 4wheeling, and I did this kind of a bump up thing in a set of some ruts while I was wheeling last week. I didn't think much of it till the next time I tried to go up another hill, and it felt like the whole front end was falling off and made these terrible sounds, but I couldn't stop where I was so I kept going to the end of the trail. By the time I had got to the end of that run I had torn out 2 of the lift blocks on the passengers side, busted the tranny mounts, broke the tranny cross member in the middle, 1 maybe 2 cv axles, passenger side strut, and motor mounts. The only thing I can figure is the lift blocks must have gotten lose and had a little bit of room to move. After taking a good hit on that side it just ripped them out of the frame (1 " hole where the 17mm bolt used to go) and the under carriage parts. My question is has anyone else ever had any thing like this happen to them, And should I weld the blocks in the front. Jeff

Snow run in nw WA
We ended up going on the run 3 subarus and 3fords. It was one of the funnest trips I've gone on in a while, at least this time no one blew out their clutch or ran out of gas on the trail, for those of you who know what i'm talking about. Anyways there was about 2 feet of snow at the highest point I ended up getting as far as a 2003 ford f-350 with 35s. I even blazed the trail for 1/2 mile but the snow started packing up in the grill and ratiator and the old brat started to over heat. I got a butt load of pictures and I'll post those up real soon. Jeff

Snow run in nw WA
On sunday Jan 8th 4 or 5 of us subies are going up to baker lake right up by concrete wa. There has always been good snow there. last year I was pushing snow with my hood. It was the coolest thing ever. There will be all my buddies with there Fords there too, but They tend to just sled on the main road and dink around. If anyone wants to come up or down feel free its always fun to show up the full size fords:-p. We are all going to meet at the buzz in steak house @ 9:00am as it stands now, it's at exit 227 head west for 1/4 mile and it's right by Lowes and Dairy Queen. We'll have breakfast and then head up. Let me know If anyone wants to go. Jeff

Most embarassing place you've been stuck in your Ru?
My stuck story, everyone has had it happen once or twice. I got stuck in the skagit river, With the tide coming up, in my '79 brat the first day I owned it. That sucked. The best stuck story of all time was with my '69 chevy 2 wheel drive, I was on my way home from Darington and saw this cavinaugh pass. That would have been the fastest way home. but it wasn't. I drove off the road. And walked from lake Cavinaugh to Oso, 9:15 to 11:45 by my self, in the snow. I thought I was going to die, by the cold or a cougar. but I made it. That's my worst stuck story. Jeff

anyone running longer shocks in rear on 4" lift?
I used longer shocks on mine. The shocks are from my buddys lifted brat that had a 6" lift on it, that were originaly off a '76 landcruiser. They seam to fit just fine. Jeff

Annual Xmas tree run-this Saturday! WHO'S IN?
I'd like to go but I would not be able to make it on the 27TH (have to repaint the inside of my house, just what I want to do) I could make it for the Dec. 4TH run and I could maybe bring 4 or 5 other soobys w/ me too. Jeff
