EA82T starts and then stops immediately
Meeky Moose replied to greggbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm did you unplug the spark plug wires from the distributor cap? if so sheck the fireing order again.. it goes counterclockwise, not clockwise.. (had this issue, but my RX started and ran on 2 cylinders) double check and make sure the knock sensor is plugged in as well.. i know if the wire/plug gets bumped they like to break off.. -
rx is possesed... grrr

yeah, when i bought the car niether horn worked, so i replaced the passenger side horn, and it worked fine.. that was about 6 months ago or so.. the drivers side never has worked.. guess i need to go get a couple horns and replace both of them again and see what it does.. -

are the fuel lines hooked to the right connections? the hose from the fuel filter should go into the middle fuel rail.. the return hose should go into the fuel rail that runs from the pressure regulator.. -
doubtful.. the stuff is the same thing thats used to make a cast harden btw.. another .02 of mine.. i've never used it on a soob, but have used it in fords, chevy's, mitsubishi's, toyota's.. had good results in all cases..

first the heat, now the horn.. went out to start it at lunch time, get in starts up, then 30 seconds later the horn comes on.. it stuck or shorted out. but i had to unhook the battery then unplug the horn.. pain in my arse.. whats next? lol :-\

well the RX heater has never really worked well.. it blows fine, all 4 positions work, but the air is barely luke warm.. before i go tearin the heating ducts apart, anyone got any suggestions? no air bubble in the cooling system, car runs right below the half on the temp gauge. heater does warm up, but not even really luke warm.. if it does manage to get to luke warm, you can pull up to a light, stop, and it'll revert to cool air again.. i'm thinkin maybe a rats nest in the heater core ducting, but theres no fuzz comin out anywhere.. any ideas?

if i was bringin the family i woulda got a room no questions asked.. but its just me, so i figure i can rough it.. plan on convoying with Scott, so we'll be there before dark for sure on Friday.. -
you drain the radiator, flush good until there is no more antifreeze, then dump in the waterglass and fill with water.. its that easy..
-
i used to use that to fix blown HG's.. works great if you don't put antifreeze in.. the antifreeze will eat the waterglass.. it can be found at most pharmacy's.. sometimes ya gotta ask for it as some places keep it behind the counter.. a guy in oregon had an escort.. it was waterglassed.. he drove the snot outa that car pizza delivering for a few years before it went again..

i still gotta buy a tent.. but thinkin a 4 person 9x9 tent will do.. in case someone needs a place to crash... Jules will most likely be crashin in my tent as well.. hey Scott, know of any good army surplus places to get a cold weather bag? i used to have 2 of them rated at minus 60 but they are long gone now.. -

i checked all of motel 6's websites and searches and such.. it was ridiculous in pricing, and harissburg and york only had 1 room left.. i didn't feel like spending $200 for a couple nights to sleep on a bed.. a tent and a sleepin bag and i'll be just fine.. besides i don't think a north face tent will leak -

Meeky Moose replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i'd say pass on it and look around some more.. hell ride greyhound out here, buy my 89' hatch and drive it home, lol you'd still spend less than that.. lots of soobs around that need a little work and can be had for alot less than that.. kinda like the 2wd auto 88' wagon here thats mint inside and out, just needs a trans.. $350.. another auto trans can be had cheap.. hell even a 5-speed can be had cheap.. in fact i have a 2wd turbo 5-speed sittin here.. lol (why i haven't gone to get that wagon is beyond me).. look some more, you'll find one.. -

the lifted hatch would go about 160-180 miles on a tank.. thats not figureing in the difference in tire size.. see signature for what it is.. my RX will go 140-170 on a tank of gas... the spfi wagon will go 250 on a tank.. (damn slippin auto trans) the stock 89' ea81 hatch will go 317 miles on 8.5 gallons of gas.. this is the commuter car -

that little egr solinoid in my book is a waste of time.. the one on my RX has been gone since i bought the car.. i accidentally broke mine when doing a tune up, so i unpluged the electrical plug and capped off the vacuum line and saw no difference in how it ran.. so i left it that way.. still that way with the new motor too.. -

Harpua has the hole shootin match but he's in Oregon.. but greyhound has cheap shipping, lol.. am hopin SOA can figure it out, lol.. i know i'm not going to get very far on my own.. thanks DR.
