  2. my understanding of the VC is it works like an lsd in a rear axle, you only lose drive (assuming its failed ) if one wheel has lost traction and same with awd if the vc is not working you only lose drive if any of the 4 wheels has lost traction?
  3. You say it has no compression have you tested it or is it missing on that cylinder? if it was ok before you changed things chances are its something you did or maybe a dud lead or spark plug?
  4. this 1/4 inch that is being referred to shouldn't that be diameter rather than circumference?
  5. you could source a vacuum pump from a legacy they have them for the cruise independant of the manifold n/a or turbo camo
  6. you can use 2wd rears and 97 outback fronts and get about 35mm of extra height in suspension lift
  7. this is the response i got from Subaru Australia, all you have to do is tell them what you think and sometimes they might actually hear you . Dear Camo Thank you for your recent e-mail to Subaru Australia. Subaru appreciate the feedback you have been able to provide regarding our vehicle design, as it allows us to focus on areas that require our attention. The factory is particularly interested in the Australian market, as it is the third largest market in the world. As a result, our customers are able to regularly influence design and specification. Please be assured that your comments have been noted and will be forwarded to our marketing department for the information of our factory in Japan, who always take on board, constructive criticism. Once again thank you for your e-mail. Regards Samar Tannous Customer Relations Representative Subaru (Aust) Pty. Limited
  8. If you use low range it is a lot easier to get going on the starter and as others have said it is an acquired skill to change without the clutch but you can change out of low just as you would any other gear
  9. In my 81 wagon i used to have a twenty five litre chemical drum cut in half length ways screwed together and kept wire ropes jacks fan belts oil and sundry stuff etc wasnt a problem now i have to keep it all in the boot of the liberty:(
  10. I've had this very problem although on an early wagon the moly grease in the inner doj gives up the ghost and the balls start to grab instead of sliding which is where the steering jiggle comes from, the local cv shop/factory here developed a new grease with castrol specifically for subaru inner cvs i've no trouble since using this grease, the shaft is probably ok if you regrease it. It can start with no warning noises btw. regards camo
  11. Which are you guys talking ? I have liberty awd sedan that has 260,000klms which is 162,000 miles which btw is going like a train
  12. I towed a five ton bedford furniture van off a bridge after he cut me off, then promptly ran out of fuel in front of me and stopped in the middle of a two lane bridge, so i used low range in my 1800 dual range 1976 wagon to pull of the road , then i found out it was loaded! i wondered why the rope stretched so far before it started to move!
  13. You'd be surprised by who and where your message is being read!
  14. check your tyres i thought i had a dud bearing and it was the tyres :brolleye:
  15. As far as i'm aware the only clearence engines are the ea82 and the ej22 i think yours could be an ej20? if so you'll need new valves unfortunately :boohoo:
  16. The fuel filter is how old ? maybe its full of gunk and progresivly blocks up as you go then the crap falls away when stopped, then it runs for a while and does it again ?
  17. There is also an adjustment bolt below the mirror on the inside of the door that moves the channel/ mirror in and out this will fix the noise as well, i did this on mine A 92 liberty Awd sedan regards Camo Aussie,Aussie,Aussie!
  18. i've seen some 16" wheels on a H6 that were off a beetle new type , or a golf maybe ?
  19. Does the tape/cd player work? the imports we get from japan to australia have different frequencies to what we have here so the radios need to have a modification done so they can pick up the freqs we have, ours are higher btw regards camo
  20. Ive just recently fitted a clutch type (resonably tight clutch pack too) rear Lsd diff to my 5spd Manual AWD liberty/legacy sedan and was wondering if there are any ill effects that could be caused by this specificaly the viscous coupling in the rear of the transmission? I understand the theory of the clutch type workings but i need some enlightening with regards to how a viscous lsd works does anyone have a schematic of one ?
