for the east coasters....If Eli would still want to do something like this, you could have the truck to NY or CT for not a whole lot more than $1100. i broke down the costs to $200 for food, $340 gas, $350 2 plane or train tickets home, $150 for the truck, approx $50 to get it running. just a thought for someone far way who wants it....... Thanks again Eli, for the offer!

there is this guy in AZ that contacted me with his 79 brat for sale. it doesn`t run currently, but the guy has owned it over 10 yrs. he said the body is very clean, and it also has a clear title, jump seats, A-bar, roll bar, factory spoiler, and extra mag rims (If anyone buys it, i would buy the rims for $80) . he said it should run pretty easilly, but it has been setting for awhile. the interior is sunbaked he says. it is so tempting, but unless he got it running, i just couldn`t afford the shipping. he wants $150 for it, and if you guys don`t get it soon, its going on ebay or to the scrapyard!! get it fast!!!i can`t recall where in AZ he said it was, but i can find out. pm me with any Q's or contact info. here are a few small pics....

i remembered these pics here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=478&sl=r is it driveable now?

yup, your 4sp will bolt in. you will just need the clutch petal, linkages, shifters with linkages, consoles, and a few other odds and ends. $1350 is a GREAT deal for a turbo brat though. if it is clean enough, it might be worth while to fix the tranny and double your money on it, t-brats are RARE and valuable! the last one on ebay went for 5k..... just my 2 cents

Ea81 Hitachi Rebuild -any Pointers?

i`ll get back to you John. it would be coming off an extra ea71 i have, but everything is the same for the ea81. this was a great running motor.... do any of your parts gen 1 wagons have axles in them? i need a pair of junk axles to take apart. i`m converting the brat to RWD, but i don`t want to ruin a good set. ea81 axles would work too.... -

Matt, here is your car almost, except its missing the motor, and the paint is not as nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-Subaru-GL-4-Dr-No-Motor-5pd-Air_W0QQitemZ8068969962QQcategoryZ6783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

if you spend that much on supplies, why don`t you just buy one from AA or BYB?? you will also need a londer steering shaft, and brake lines. .25 square tubing would be plenty strong in my opinion. good luck
