  1. Hi, I just got my 08 Impreza. Is there anyone that has changed out the fog lights or the bulbs yet? I think the fog lights on this car are not that good compared to the Legacy I just got rid of.
  2. General Disorder is correct. One problem the Holley and its twin, 32/36 DFAV have is that the throttle shaft will wear the body of the carburetor. The DGV series does this as well, but we have a repair kit now. A roller bearing kit that fits in the gap around the shaft. A very cool fix and improvement. The DFAV/Holley do not have the gap around the shaft for the bearing.
  3. I think you could put 2 one barrels on a Subaru and it would NOT be overkill. If you look at the Volkswagen applications, there is kits for 2 - 34 ICT Weber Carbs. They are not too big, similar in operation to the DGV and relatively inexpensive. things to consider Linkage Manifolds Vacuum fittings This setup has one drawback and that is that the 34 ICT does not have a choke plate. I think this is a minor issue. The dual 34 ICT would be a lot more efficient because there would not be an issue of fuel falling out of suspension. Also, the carburetors are pointing the right way for the float bowls to work properly. When you put a DGV series on the Sube, the float bowl is not correct. This is the same problem VW buses have when they put a downdraft Weber on.
  4. Here is something you guys should look at. If you have a DGV or DGAV thats been on a car for a while and you think there is less power, I want you to look at the auxilliary venturies. Thats the piece where the fuel comes into the barrel of the carburetor. There is a brass tube there, which has a slot that ideally is pointing straight down. The tube can start to loosen and spin around. I have seen them pointing sideways, straight up, whatever. Sometimes the tube moves into the port in the side of the barrel where the fuel comes up to the auxilliary venturi. So you have this problem you find out. So what to do. You have to take the top of the carb off. See if the aux venturi will slide out. It might be loose, it might be tight. It might have the tube moved into the carb itself. It has you say. So, you have to turn the carb upside down. You see the slot in the tube and it is not where it is supposed to be. So slide it back with a flat screwdriver. Then you can take the aux venturi out. So you have it out now. you can now be careful and put the end of the aux vent in a vise and stake the edge wher the tube and the aluminum are. Give it a couple whacks. It needs it. Reinstall and enjoy.
  5. I know about the coughing problem. I think some folks might not go there, and they are just looking for advice and info.
  6. Yes, we have the rectangular elements in stock. Call me at 1-800-665-5031
  7. You could use the similar jetting to what you had in the DGV, except one size smaller in the main jets.
  8. I would stay away from the DIR. Its from a Renault. The DGV series is superior in so many ways. The letters dont mean that much, but there is things you can read into the part numbers. R meaning Renault.
  9. I have posted about this before, but can't figure out how to modify my post. So here is a new post. We have 2 new items of interest for Weber Carburetor Owners 1) Proper top cover gasket for DGV DGAV series. The top cover gasket that Weber has been putting in the carburetors and the repair kits in the past few years is not correct. It is actually for the 38 DGAS. The picture shown here is the new "original" proper design. We have these in stock and cost $5 plus shipping. We also have complete repair kits available as well. This gasket is the incorrect one that you might have now. We also have our Throttle Shaft Repair Kit. This kit comes with throttle shaft bearings for each side of the throttle shaft and has 2 screws that come with it. This gets rid of all wear, by locating the throttle shaft in roller bearings. This kit costs $20 plus $9 for shipping. Give me an email jim@overseas-auto.com or call 1-800-665-5031 if you need more info or to place an order
  10. If you are in the Vancouver area, let us help you with your snow tire needs. We have several suppliers that have a wide variety of products. Give me a call 604 879 6288 or email me at jim@overseas-auto.com with your questions.
  11. the automatic saps so much power. Did you find out if it is an 4wd?
  12. maybe the same socket fits another car. look at the wreckers for Mazda, other Subarus etc.
  13. The Nokian WR is very popular in Western Canada.... It is an all season tire that is good for snow. It is different than Blizzak or other snows. I put on the Bridgestone G009. Pretty good so far... have not seen the snow yet.
  14. I have EBC Red Stuff brake pads in the Legacy GT 2004. They feel good, but they dont wear good. Has anyone else had experience with other EBC, Hawk, or anything else? Looking for performance, quiet, reasonable life. thanks
  15. we used to jet the Hitachi on the old Datsun 510. We used these on race cars. They took Weber DGV jets. But, I think you will only be able to change main jets..... Something else, I am not familiar with the subaru Hitachi, but if the jets go in thru bolts from the bottom of the carb, and there is a separate float bowl, we opened up the holes from the float bowl to the main jets.
  16. Top cover choke flap issues are a new problem. Sometimes you see the issue and sometimes you dont. I can supply a new top cover for about $70 shipped anywhere in North America. Then you can transfer your old parts over. sometimes the shaft it self is pretty badly worn.
  17. Hi, the bearing kit is this It costs $20 and 9 for shipping. Our new "old style" top cover gasket looks like this
  18. We have a couple new things for Weber DGV series carbs 1) The Weber DGV series throttle shaft has no support other than the body of the carburetor. This leads to wear of the body. We have come up with a roller bearing kit that slips into a cavity that is there already in the carb. The shaft is fully supported and the bearing is sealed. The kit comes with 2 bearings and 2 shaft screws. There is no machine work. You take out the shaft and replace 2 plastic bushings with our bearings. The kit is $20 plus 9 for shipping. 2) We are going to have a new top cover gasket for the DGV series carbs as well. The problem has been that the top gasket was made for the 38 DGAS and it is actually different from DGV. On steep inclines, fuel can leak out of the float bowl and into the air corrector jets area. This gasket should cure that. Call, email, or PM me. 1-800-665-5031
  19. I have seen Japanese coils give out. They usually end with a loud bang and the car never starts again. With regards to the Weber backfiring, always look at the ignition first check fuel pressure as well. no more than 3 psi
  20. Hi, I sell the Weber conversions from Redline. I can supply them for $375 shipped to you. Jim 1-800-665-5031 http://www.overseas-auto.com
