Steering Problems with my Brat
Yeah, that's sort of what I was asking. Is the shaft size and spline count the same?

Steering Problems with my Brat
My Brat is very stiff to steer at certain spots. It seems to me that the U-joint connecting to column to the shaft going to the rack is bad. I plan on heading to the yard to pick one up, any idea if the U-joint is the same on the EA-81 and EA-82??

Model Recommendations??
Hocrest replied to heartless's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have a 97 with the 4EAT. I have over 200,000 on it (40k when I bought it) I beat the crap out of that trans on a daily basis. With the pedal forcefully down it will wait till redline to shift from 1st to 2nd, and again from 2nd to 3rd. I have never done a thing to the trans. No services, never even a fluid change. It still shifts beautifully. I was looking for a 5 spd, but couldn't find any in the price/mileage I was looking for, so I went with the auto. I have always thought that when the auto goes south, that I will put in a 5 speed, but I don't know if that will ever happen.

junkyard/Rim Question
As long as the socket doesn't split, you should be able to use it again. To get the jammed nut out of the socket, use a slightly larger socket as a base to hammer the nut out into.

Had a great time as always up at Mooseys It was great to see Freak and Connie again and to meet Mary and Tim. That is a super nice 78 Brat that Jesse has. Okay, first of all, I had 1/2 the bag of chips, you had the other half... Secondly, I offered some MMs before you passed out and you didn't want any. Am I supposed to let them go to waste??? Thirdly, since you were sleeping, and I was trying not to (someone had to drive ) I decided that for safety sake I should drink it... Besides the coffee tasted like crap, I think the cream was spoiled. You should thank me for drinking it I'll work on getting the pics up later...

Replacement Driver Seat Foam ???
Benebob fixed this problem in his XT6 with a can of Spray Foam Insulation. It is a little firmer than stock, and may not last as long as a real fix, but it is quick and easy and cheap :D:D

4EAT "firm shift" resistor question
Hocrest replied to Skip's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNot sure where it is on the Legacy or GL10... But on the XT6 it is over on the Passenger Strut Tower, on the SVX it is on the fender behind the battery. You probably know what to look for, but just in case, or for others reference the resistor is a thin metal box about 3/4" x 3/4" x 5".

Will the 83 Coupe be mine????
Connie, Sorry to hear :( I'm sure something else will come up soon. If not you can piece your own together from parts in Paul's shop. Of course it won't have front brakes. but I think he has everything else needed in there :D

Yes it was a good time. Paul, thanks again for all your help and generosity. No way I could have got it done with out you there... This can be one more testiment to beauty of the Moose Man. He is truly a friend of the Soob. Connie you caught onto the Duchess and Trans fluid plan, huh?? Lets do it all again soon, but rather than gathering around a tranny in Paul's lot hows about we gather around some beers and chips at a bar:drunk: ploop...
