Strange AC behavior - On with defogger
Hocrest replied to 97subaruGT's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI believe it is supposed to do that... AC helps to dry the air to aid in defogging (for the same reason, your "Recirc" button is disabled during 'Defrost" use) and it also forces use of the AC compressor during the winter months to prevent the seals from drying out.

brat tail door price
That works out to about $164 US. How much of that is shipping? Would group buying/shipping reduce that?

How cold is your AirCon??
Hocrest replied to Setright's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have a dial thermometer hanging in my vent (Like the ones used for cooking) In the Legacy it will get as low as 40* in weather up into the 80s. I just converted the SVX to 134 last night and that will get below 50*.

Finally, some pics of my new Brat...
OK, give me a couple of weeks and I'll have it right down to ya' Thanks for the offer, and I'll keep that in mind, but for now I don't want to lift it. Just looking for another inch or so... Thanks also for posting the extra photos. I really think the acceleration/gearing would be better with just a little bit larger wheel. There is plenty of low end that seems to be wasted and not much left once I get above 70... I'm not planning on doing any major offroading, just playing around on some trails and such

Finally, some pics of my new Brat...
I've had her for almost two months and I'm finally getting some shots online. You can see the Silver Targa stripes I got from Ed Dahl. I have shots of the standard wagon wheels that I got her with and with a set of 15" Pugs that I got at the yard. I like the look alot better with the pugs, and I like the way it drives too. But I have a question, the Pugs came from the yard with 195/60-15's (real crappy with dry rot and cracks) and I was expecting more of a "lift" from the stock 185/70-13's. But a few measurements I took show the same clearance between the two sets of wheels???? Using a tire size calculator I was expecting 1/2" or so difference. There seemed to be a lot of room all around, maybe I'll go with a bigger size??

Repro Targa Stripes for Brat?
Ed Dahl is the one that sells them on EBay. I just recently got the 2 piece set for mine. They are great Email Ed directly to avoid the EBay hassles. DahlEd@aol.com I got the silver to put on my black Brat.

Cruise control is not working :(
Hocrest replied to mattocs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX4 options--- 1st Look at the trottle, there are two cable to pull it... One goes through the firewall to the loud pedal, the other goes to a vacum canister in the engine bay, just under the driver's side windshield wiper. Check out the vacum hose attached to the other side of that canister, make sure it is on tight, mabe use a wire tie/clamp to be sure it is. 2nd Another issue may be dirty contacts in the switch on the steering wheel, shoot some contact cleaner in there and work the crap out of that switch to clean it out. 3rd Auto or 5 speed, if 5 speed it could be the switch on the clutch pedal, on one of my old wagons, I had to hold the pedal up with my foot to use the CC. 4th Could be the brake switch like you said

brake lines
I don't know first hand, but was told by a mechanic I use for the trucks at work that he has seen copper brake lines expand to the extent that it seems like there is a leak. But, the fluid didn't leak out, just filled the expanded lines.

What is this exhaust thing on my EA-81??
Thanks for all the information, now... So what happens if i take them off with the stock carb?? One on them is leaking where the small tube attaches. Will it affect the performance at all? The only emissions testing that I have to worry about is a visual check, and if the parts guys at the dealership aren't sure if it should be there, I'm pretty sure the yocal doing the inspection isn't going to have a clue... Where do those tubes go to at the other end?? What do I have to do there?

Trunk problems
a. Along the drivers door sill in front of the seat their should be a lever to pop the trunk. Push to pop the fuel door, Pull to pop the trunk... b. There is a small pull tab at the top of the rear seat that will allow the rear seat back to fold down, allowing access to the trunk... c. I think the dealer can cut a key if you provide them with the VIN and proof of ownership...
