  1. Thanks everyone! I'm hoping one day to get one for myself. Hatchsub- What are the differences between them and any other EA81 (primarily drivetrain wise)? Anyone know of any in 4WD or are they all 2WD?
  2. I know Subaru made them. Anyone see/ know of any left in the States? Anyone have pics of any? All I ever see are the Wagons (and Brats and the occasional Coupes) in my neck of the woods (and here on the board). I'd like to eventually find one but have yet to see any except for in Subaru ads. Anyone have any info on them? Any help would be appreciated.
  3. I would DEFINATELY agree with you on that one. Down side is cannot afford to move out of CA anytime soon. TheSubaruJunkie- I'm a hop, skip, and jump south of you, good ol Amador County. Hwy 88 & 49. Will see what happens if I decide to add another car to my growing list. Thanks for input everyone.
  4. Man does that look NICE!!! But, is it just me or the weird angle of the pic or is the passenger side a little further away from the drivers side? Definatly gotta put some more lights on her. But man, again looks nice.
  5. I'm looking at an 82 Brat from out of state. My ONLY concern is getting it to PASS CA's sh*ty SMOG test . What all is needed to do this? I thankfully have access to PLENTY of spare parts/ cars.
  6. I definately agree with the trailer axle placement but, thats why the more I look at it the more I want to do trailer number 2, just longer on the rear overhang (as long as it take to make my bike fit). It's a shame my mike won't fit w/o hanging over with the trailer being from the B pillar back. As for the IRS, haven't gotten that far and might just rob some FWD rear "axle" and shove it under their. This is what I was thinking- Mind you the tongue will start right infront of the cut off and (hopefully) extend no more than three feet (I'm thinking tent trailer style). We'll see what happens when I start cutting everything up and I definately see your point
  7. Heres my ideas Trailer one- Trailer two- Comparison- Trailer one is for my dirt bike and will have operational rear doors for storage under the floor. Trailer two is for moving junk around and will have the hatch welded shut (figure giant wheel barrow) and rear quarters extened 6 inches. What do ya'll think?
  8. So, I've been really thinking about this the last couple of days and hears what I've come up with plan wise for the body Trailer one (for my bike) will be cut somewhere in the middle of the front door, have the hatch butchered to fill in the "gap" above tail lights, use part of the roof for the front wall (or if I can, con my friend into letting me cut up his totalled Brat for the cab wall), leave the back doors operational for storage under the floor (with access also from the front). Trailer Two will be for hauling junk around and have basically the same mods MINUS the fact of being cut just infront of the B-pillars, extending the rear behind the wheels around 6 inches or so and hacking the hatch in half and welding closed. They both might recieve a 4 inch lift for more ground clearance (especially trailer one). Comparison shot What do ya'll think? If all goes well I've have my other 86 Wagon mid-June and cut up by mid-July:headbang:
  9. Get some pics up. I might be joining you on a similar project or 2 so I can tow my bike around before my Brat is done and have another one for camping w/ my bike and Brat (when done).
  10. I've searched and searched and cannot find a difinitive answer so.... DO 14 inch Pug Alloys require special lug nuts or will the original Subaru ligs work? Simple yes, original Subaru will work or no, special lugs required.
  11. Alright. I'm a stupid newbie when it comes to Roos (I'll be the first to admit it) and all and since my Brat is STILL down for the count (headgaskets), I'm wondering about the DOJs from an EA82 on an EA81. What are they and how do I do it? It seems they help increase wheel travel and since my Brat will be getting an SJR 4 or 6 inch lift, I'd like to increase the wheel travel as well and make this thing overall stronger. Did I mention I have a parts EA82 4X4 and might be getting a 90 4X4 also for parts, plus access to more EA82s for parts and goodies? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. Got any pics of these trailers, particularly the car trailer? I'm thinking about cutting up one of my wagons or another one or two I might be getting so I can haul my bike around w/o my Brat (it's going to be longer than I thought on it), and besides, it's noce to have a trailer to haul more than a bed full of goodies:grin:
  13. My 98 from factory De-stickered Notice the wheel well lips and above the door rub strip. It's a shame the wheel well lips have the "overspray" on them but oh well.
  14. Man, that looks GOOD!!! Now I know how I want my Wagon to look (still gotta figure out the Brat)
  15. I would love to wave to the people I see driving by in their subies, but a major majority of them are gray haired and don't like the fact I'm checking out their ride as they drive by. The other folks are just regular people and don't pay attention to me in my LOB dd, but since I've been driving my 86 the last few days I've gotten some attention (mostly yelled at or gawked at) becuse it's LOUD and looks like a piece with some good stickers. Oh well, when my Brat is done I'll be gawked at too.
  16. Man, that does look good, been trying to get my friend to do it to his 6. IF he decides to get rid of his XT6 I might grab it from it and that would be one of my first mods (never did like the pop ups).
  17. Just an FYI for those that might be intersted in removing the two tone stickers from their BGs. Before sticker removal- After the sticker removal-
  18. Go with whiteline racing. You can get their parts from http://www.globalperformanceparts.com/. I've heard nothing but good things about their products. Check out http://sl-i.net/ for LOTS of Legacy info. Good luck!
  19. http://www.boxer4racing.com/parts1.htm Their catalog says they have them, but I have not called to make sure. As soon as I have the $$$ I'm spoilering my OB.
  20. I thought it was more like "rag doll" style- atleast thats what the witnesses say. Yes, if I remeber right the Subie was totaled. Ballitch- The guy in the Sube didn't see him next to the truck that was turning right and decided to pull out onto the hiway- into grinder_74. Kimokalihi- We (grinder and myself) have more pics of the bike, it was a total as well. When I get to my home computer I'll post some of the detailed pics up, unless grinder_74 beats me to it.
  21. Closer to Tahoe would be better but I'll see what I can do. Haven't got my new work schedule either so I'm still up in the air. I'll need an address or something cause I've never been anywhere up here other than Reno and Tahoe themselves.
  22. Thanks for the info, now when I need to do my brake job I'll just swap out everything and wait on the rims.
  23. Make's me want to hurry up and get my Brat done!!!! Looks like one heck of a blast. :headbang:
  24. WRX rotors work but then you need to upgrade to 16 inch wheels. You will need the calipers and brakets off the donor WRX. I'm not sure what your rotor size is but if memory serves me right the Outbacks are 10.2 inches and the WRXs are 10.9 inches. If you want bigger than that you can upgrade to ANY big brake kit for the WRXs. I just got a set of 02 RS rotors, calipers and brakets for my 98 Outback (For the fact I like to fly and brake at the last second). Only reason they are not on yet is due to the fact I don't have the 16 inch rims yet. Everyone I've spoken to on the various forums I visit say the stock Outback brakes are very good and the only reason to upgrade would be for lots of track use. Visit subaruoutback.org as they are very knowledgeable about the Outbacks and Legacy. You can visit sl-i.net as well for LOTS of Legacy info and upgrades as well as tips and tricks. Good luck with everything and be sure to post some pics when you are done with the lift.
  25. I just lost my weekends off and started a new job but pick a date and time and I'll see if I can me all of ya.
