  1. Welcome to the board. I'm about 2.5-3 hours east/northeast from you. And i'd be happy to donate a 3at 4wd to get it out of my way, lol.
  2. So you think the justy is a unique car. The only think that sets them apart from a Geo Metro is the option for 4wd. They are still sardine cans made for no purpose other than fuel mileage. And the XT, hell thats just a copy of a Pontiac Fiero. I mean look at then, they are both wedges. And both slow and quirky. The Brat, rip off of an El Camino. SVX, hell its got deLorean windows for goodness sake. My point is, if you really want to nit pick, subaru has never made a car that couldn't be compared to another car being made in the same or similar era. If you don't like the car, don't buy one. Some people love them (me included now that they've grown on me) some people don't. Wouldn't you get annoyed just a little bit if somebody popped up every day or so with a thread talking about how much they love a car for such and such reasons. The same goes with the threads of how some people hate a car. All the reviews were posted almost a year ago when these cars came out. If you had negative stuff to say about the body design it should have been addressed then. Now stuff like paint schemes and that stuff, yeah, we can fuss about that all day long. But, in the end, its a quirky scheme. And its what makes Subaru, a Subaru.
  3. Not sure on your terrain, but here in the mountains its not uncommon for my mom's 98 Legacy to run a touch over three on a hill to keep highway speed. From what I can tell from here, it almost sounds like the torque converter isn't locking/unlocking like it should. And causing it to hang in gear.
  4. You can buy the rear peice from subaru. It bolts right on and will have the fittings for use of stock oil lines from a 22t. If I can think about it tomorrow I'll take a pic or two pf the backside of the 22t passenger head I have
  5. I can think of 5 right now within ten minutes of my house. Spare parts-o-plenty:headbang:
  6. I've seen too many stock ea82t's in junk yards with the writing bad motor on the windshield for me to believe it will last even as long as it an optomist would hope for.
  7. I think you are getting the procedure for the doj cup(diff end) confused with the cv(hub end) confused from your manual. Or you manual has it confused from the fsm. Gary I've got a couple ej rears here i can pop the ends off of and send to you for the price of shipping later on in the week if you like.
  8. Nobody here is underestimating your intellegence. We are stating a well proven, documented fact, a built ea82t WILL blow. And sooner or later you will go the same route countless people have gone.
  9. I have ea81/ea82 parts coming out my rump roast... But if I was serious about wanting something "fast" I'd pull my head out of my parts pile and see whats better.
  10. My friend's 05 wrx back when it was stock, for a month in 05, got 30-34 mixed driving. Consider this as well, an n/a ej22 can hold its fair share of boost as well with comparable upgrades as an ea82t. Then it will make more power, and still be more reliable than the ea82t could hope for. And then the little car could be running 13's for darn near the same price as you want to be running 14's for.
  11. Go test your chilton's in real life practice and get back to me.
  12. Have you ever actually taken one apart? You aren't going to get a screwdriver to where that clip is at. It clips into the cv assembly at a point of no access. These things were made to stay together. And its this coupled with sub standard aftermarket parts that yeilds such a high failure rate with the majority of rebuilt axles. And Gary, yes, if you drop the rear diff the axles will slide right out of the hub without having to remove them from the diff. I don't know if you've ever removed a diff from an ej era car or not, but its a little more envolved than ea/er stuff.
  13. Now that is impressive, my Grandpa on my dad's side lived to be 100. And tomorrow marks 11 years since he passed on.
  14. Looks like the design there is only to fit ea82 pitch stoppers, correct?
  15. The easiest way to geet the cv end off an axle, especially if you don't want to use it again is to take the out of the car. put the axle in a vice or something of that nature to hold it. And take a hammer, larger than a normal nail driving hammer but smaller than a sledge, and hit the crap out of it on the end where the boot connects. A couple good hits and it should come off. Granted the cv joint itself will usually break but it will come off there. I've done a few this way, front two on the xt since they were both bad and I wanted to rock rwd for a while.
  16. Yeah, the white brat made me hurt. That poor thing is literally rusted in half.
  17. Both the 83 and 84 are ea81 motors. Ea82's didn't come out until 85 here.
  18. I made Ashley drive for a little while on the way home, after we ate I got really, really sleepy and don't remember about a 15 minute stretch of road.... Oh and I called and made sure dad knew to put the front tag back on the car before he gets a ticket, lol
  19. Seems to me like somebody posted a dry weight rating for the ej's once upon a time. My memory wants me to say the ej22 was rated just under 180lbs.
  20. I'm gonna have to say that before I make a day trip like this again I'm gonna have to get my days off paired together instead of seperate. Nine-ish hours on the road, plus enough time to actually hang out and have some fun equals one tired Shannon at work the next day, lol.
  21. Actually, an n/a motor will benefit a good deal by port matching the intake and exhaust. The real problem for an ea81 brathing is the intake manifold itself.
  22. Have you looked at the four big screws that hold the rails to the bottom of the seat. I've had them loosen up over time as well.
  23. It was a really pretty day in Tennessee, and an absolute pleasure to meet up with Kyle. And nice to get to ride around in my first weberized ea81. Put a grand total of 547 miles on mom's trusty ol' 98 Legacy. And it turned over 184K miles right as I turned into their driveway taking it back to them. I need to check and make sure that we can both get off the weekend of the show. I'm pretty sure it's still early enough to request them off and get approved. Gotta love Wal-Mart:rolleyes: . I just wonder if I would have enough time to get the hatch up here and together in time to still be able to register it in the show... Oh, btw, my cell phone battery was too low to take a picture of the tripmeter showing 442.* miles when the gas light flashed on while we were coming home, lol.
  24. I see I've missed a lot, congrats on finding the wc car you've wanted Connie.
  25. I know this for sure, you won't be able to use a clutch for a turbo ej. They are the pull type pressure plate. Any combo that could possilby work would have to be for an na ej. That being said, subyrally had a clutch setup made for his rx once upon a time that used an ej clutch disc and build ea plate. I have an ej flywheel. I will try to get some numbers for you tomorrow evening.
