  1. that sounds terrific.. i'm excited to see it come to fruition.
  2. hahah.. i thought the same thing!
  3. followed your work on the wrx wagon.. excellent stuff! is the EA82 going to turn out similar as far as build?
  4. Good to see that you made it through with only minimal damage!
  5. Saw it on NASIOC. Love it. Good to see pics of it in action.
  6. Hehe. Not much down in Atlanta, Ga. I'm thinking of doing either a FI swap or putting a 32/36 on the car because the stock Hitachi isn't running too well and the car is skipping pretty badly despite brand new plus, wires, cap and rotor. Need to do new shocks and build some bumpers.. Too many things to do.. too little money.
  7. I work on my older VWs myself and they aren't too bad at all. I also do all the work on my newer Legacy Outback. However, when it comes to that Hitachi carb on the car.. since it's not a Weber or a Mikuni.. I'm just I just don't have the time to fiddle with it and I feel bad that the car sits instead of being driven. The dealer likes to 'look' at my car, but I don't know if they can do anything to it. A friend of mine works as a tech for a local BMW dealer and my group of friends also own older BMWs (E30s, E28s etc.) and he said, "All the guys that know those cars are retiring and besides, we don't have any of the specialty tools anymore." I'm in the Norcross, Ga area. Not too far from I-285 and I-85.
  8. Yeah.. unfortunately that seems to be the trend. Where are all those old Subaru guru's like in the older watercooled and aircooled VW crowds? I guess just not in the Southeast.
  9. I just haven't had the time lately.. Here are the main problems currently: Oil leak onto driver side manifold (burning/smoking) Idles poorly Stalls when cold High idle when warm (until you blip gas) Overall feels down on power. I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the Hitachi carb. Unfortunately with emissions inspection, I need to stay with the Hitachi carb or go oem SPFI to stay legal. needs a new clutch cable passenger door will not open Left front axle clicking (have axle / need to be replaced) I'd like to do new ball-joints as well.
  10. Hello everyone, I'm looking for a good Subaru mechanic that I can take my EA82 to get some work done. Lately, I haven't had the time to work on my EA82 and it's running poorly and needs some more work to be reliable. The car has rarely been driven in the past year because it needs work. I am looking for a good independent mechanic in the metro Atlanta and surrounding areas. If anyone has some recommendations or knows of a place that specializes on older generation Subaru, the information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Eugene.
  11. the ground for the radio could be hooked up to the factory dimmer/illumination wire? this wire will read ground when the lights are off but reads voltage when the lights are on... check to see if you've burned out the dimmer.
  12. great to see another 'southeastern' lifted subaru fan! hmm.. maybe we need to have a GTG if there are enough guys around.
  13. he's gone..you have to let him go.. he's gone..you have to let him go!
  14. whoa.. did you build a frame that bolts between the subframes and the body of the car?
  15. wow.. that looks great. i'm in atlanta, georgia and that doesn't seem like too far of a drive.. can you tell me how to get there? or about where it's located? thanks!
  16. i can't wait until you're done so i can see pics of the megasquirt setup. i'm planning on putting it on my '88 GL so i can get rid of the carb.
  17. seafoam is awesome. i use it in all my older vw's and my subaru GL.
  18. holy crap scooby.. that thing looks like a high mountain recovery vehicle in that pic!
  19. she looks great! what are the specs?
  20. thanks for all the comment guys.. i'm planning on going again this weekend with a coupla of jeepers.. since there will be more rigs there.. i might be able to get some pretty cool shots and try some more stuff.
