  1. few small pictures of the finished front bumper, wired in lights, Zap's park job after getting lunch for the crew at work, and other randomness. thats it until i get it running.
  2. whats easy, drop in the EJ20 and wiring, etc. more time consuming and tedious is swapping the EJ20 heads onto a non-turbo short block, which can be done/has been done but then you need to measure your compression ratio, and get a custom tune for it which = alot more $$$$. put in the EJ20 and enjoy. take it from some one who has done this.
  3. ^ thats a nice lookin wagon you got there.
  4. oh im just swapping hubs, the one i got from my work has a newer bearing in it so ill just that. i got the cats to clear, might get a little rattle here and there but we will see how it works. if they hit alot ill make the test pipe, if they don't they will stay on. when im done with everything im gonna take it through emissions for ************s and giggles even though it doesn't need it from where i have it registered.
  5. y-pipe fit fine, but the cats hit the X-member, but nothing a 15lbs BFH couldn't solve. so today ill just do some finishing touches like readjusting where some things sit so its more visually pleasing, as well as more clearance. then i have to do the RR wheel bearing on my dad's 99 outback.
  6. well im running a single port engine, so i have the 98 single port Y-pipe, to the stock 98 cats for now until i can get a test pipe made (eleminates cats) and after that i have a stock flange bolted on with about 4inches of pipe off the end. i plun on running a 2.25inch exhaust and a little muffler in the stock location. i hope to fab that up today at work, as well as finish the bash plate.
  7. thats a nice come up, epically with that low of millage. makes me miss my 86.5 turbo 3dr i had.
  8. actually for a flux core thats made by chicago electric its a good entry level, since i can weld up to 1/4inch plate together its not bad at all. i would use my lincoln pro-135 mig, but i don't need it just for prettier welds for my bumpers, other people... sure ill use it. but why not the 90amp flux and take a grinder to it like i did to dress the welds, no one will be the wiser.
  9. you saw my front bumper i built. thats a 90amp H/F special. if you don't trust it bring it by and ill burn it in for you.
  10. for now, getting at least another pair for the bumper, as well as some floods off the basket.
  11. if i remember right its 235/75/15 and a 2inch lift
  12. 90-94 exhaust is identical. 95-99 exhaust is identical, 93-01 impreza is identical. you will see no gain. and if you plan on lifting it, and going turbo you are waisting your time. a turbo will be no use off road unless you run on dunes for pre-running. you want low end torque, not top end horse power.
  13. i know whats alot cheaper, easier to use, and wont wear out... A PARACHUTE and if that doesn't work... spend your money on some cross drilled rotors and have them crack. get some quality brembo blank replacement rotors, and some quality pads, not auto zone junk. this coming from a guy who used to drive the grape vine daily.
  14. both are open, you can tell by the spider gear pin that goes through the middle.
  15. ahh yours has a 2.5, then swap in the 93 engine, swap on the 2.5 intake wiring and it should be good
  16. use your intake manifold of the 96, bolt it onto the older 93 or whatever year it is, and bolt it into your car. only thing you are gonna run into is that from 90-95 the exhaust was a dual port manifold, on 96+ its a single port exhaust so you will have to find a new from Y-pipe section to match the longblock you put into the car. if you decide to go that route look up Aaron's Auto Wrecking, its a subaru only wrecking yard and they are a vendor on this forum, they can get you set up.
  17. GD is right, the only thing you will gain with a new ca-back exhaust is noise, and maybe 1 or 2 hp, nothing you would ever feel.
  18. well if it takes 6 days for me to get the wiring, then a day if the weather holds out to do the wiring. then ill get some video's of it running for the first time, then once i finish the exhaust i can get some of it playing off road.
  19. check the fan, and if you replace the thermostat put a subaru one in it, take it from my lesson of loosing heat in the worst snow storm we have had in a few years.
  20. i have the Hyper Ground System from japan on my impreza, it did smooth out the engine idle, lights are brighter, and windows are faster up/down.
  21. this can only explain how i feel right now... dunno if thats work safe... but its safe in one way...
  22. its lookin like a no on this trip for me, first i don't think ill have the wiring lit alone if i do have it finished, but also i work saturday's
  23. the proper way is to swap in the prop valve as well as the rear disk, simply because the factory set up with rear drums doesn't put much pressure to the back because drums have so much more surface area for stopping so the factory used lower pressure to the rear. swap in the prop valve, you have the time and space it looks like.
  24. AHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT yesterday i was bored and the weather was great so i went and pulled off my front bumper, finish welded and dressed all the welds down. then gave it a new coat of paint and got it remounted last night. i need to get the Hella's mounted and reaimed and that will be done. then this week i still need to fab up a exhaust yet and that will be it. matt does your harness come with the O2 plugs intact so i need to weld in a bung for it? if so that works because i just did that the other day for ************s and giggles. need to collect come more pipe from work today as well as a resonator, i got my muffler so i just need to run the piping and call it a day.
