I have a 1986 gl wagon , 4x4, 4 inch lift . 15 inch steel chevy redrilled rims . my struts keep blowing in 4k miles average driving . im using new gr2 gas inserts . my coil springs are stock and kind of weak . can a weak spring cause this .? My spedo went out , I checked the cable its good , I checked the transmission , the cable turns when the wheel spins , I have heard of a speedometer gear stripping ? is the little gear in the gauge housing behind the spedo ? I spun the cable in a cordless drill, and the speedometer doesn't move . am I missing something ?

  6. Do Loyales have the hill holder circuit? is this a 5 speed .? if so check the spring to the hill holder valve .
  7. for my daily driver I use walmart douglas xtra trac 185/70/13 , They were on sale for 39.00 as of 7/3/2015 , but they rip you off 18.00 dollars to install them . I just do cash and carry , Take them to a local small tire shop and for 7:50 each im in business .
  8. The only difference would be automatic or manual , they are different lengths. And the " turbo shafts have a different spline count . but 2wd or 4wd are the same ..
  9. I have heard that you need to grease the bearings ,even if they look pre lubed . the grease they use is not good . it just makes it easy for them to assemble them at the factory .
  10. I would address the backfire issue first
  11. when it broke down did it just shut off. ? check that the disty is turning. if it isn't the timing belt broke

  16. well....after a couple of years the household style of spray foam disintegrated , as the panel rusted the foam fell off to . but I had a sexy beast of a little while . I ended up parting the car out because of frame rot . but I got some use out of it first .
  17. ALL EA 82 THRU 1994 LOYALES WILL WORK . 2 WD OR 4WD THEY ARE THE SAME FRONT SPINDLE , I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY USED METAL OR BRASS SHIM STOCK TO REPAIR THE BALL JOINT SOCKETT . AS LONG AS THEY DONT MOVE IN THE BORE YOU SHOULD BE GOOD .
  18. did you check your dust shield backing plate ?
  19. I removed my struts and brought them to my local spring shop and they disassembled them for me, the rear are called shocks but they are actually struts . the dia is so small I just had them do it . it cost 30 dollars to have done . then I reinstalled them myself. I would use only kyb gr2 (gas strut) front and rear , any other brand is junk and you will have to re do them in a year or less. I found out the hard way with Gabriel , they suck bad .
  20. I have a 1991 loyale spfi . when I accelerate the vents go to center . and my acceleration is sluggish . I used a vacuum tester and found no leaks in the duct system lines , I tested the egr , and even the manifold lines . im wondering if the leak is only under load , perhaps its the manifold gaskets , but I get no change in rpm with carb cleaner . I cant seem to find it
  21. Did you do a 2 inch lift by using blocks on the strut only? the axle will wear out quickly , you should block the cross member at least 1 inch as well.
  22. im thinking a different problem now.... driving it to work today , I was using the defrost. when I accelerated the ducts went from defrost to vent . I was only at 1/4 on the throttle. and it was instantly . ill have to get the propane out and see if I can find it. im sure its intake gaskets.
