  1. I always thought that magazine would be more aptly named Popular Science Theory:grin:
  2. Tranny mounts are easy to tell. I had to replace them in my brat. You can really feel the tranny moving a lot when you shift. You can see them from the engine compartment, have someone release the clutch while in gear a small amount. if they are bad the tranny will lift until it hits the stop.
  3. I had this problem once and it turned out to be the fuel filter
  4. So use the EA82 flywheel? One dumb question after another. Maybe I will try the search function
  5. appreciate the help mike:) I bought the nissan throwout bearing that is mentioned in the write up and it has the same diameter as the EA82 tranny shaft, will not work with the EA81. The write up while fantastic is aimed more at the ea82. Though without this site I would not have an EJ in my garage looking for a home and an awesome lifted hatch in the driveway. Thanks again for all the help. -Rob
  6. So is it possible to use an Xt6 pressure plate with the EA81 tranny because the throwout bearing also has a larger diameter? Will I have to add a 5 speed dr to my parts list?
  7. Now all is clear! The shaft on the ea82 tranny must be larger the disc does not fit, Thanks for the help guys off to my favorite store I go -Rob
  8. I picked up the xt6 kit from schucks at lunch I imagine about the same time you left this comment. Where does the problem arise, I bolted up the disc and pressure plate and it looks kosher. I do not look forward to another trip to schucks but would prefer that to pulling this engine again. The only thing that doesn't match is the throw out bearing. Is there a difference in the flywheels as far as depth or anything like that? I would really like to get this engine back in and if that means buying another clutch set so be it. Thanks -Rob
  9. I have an EA 81 that I plan on doing the EJ swap but I need a clutch now. Could I use an XT6 clutch kit in the hatch until I do the swap and save myself from buying another clutch kit? because that would be sweet Sorry about the hijack Thanks -Rob
  10. Thirty dollars is = two 18 packs and 1 pack of smokes -depending on what you drink of course:grin:
  11. +1 I bought one from schmucks for about Five dollars
  12. what size pipe are you going to use? I might be able to get it cheaper through work.
  13. +1 My friend bought one, rode and drove like a civic much improved over the cavalier. Can't say anything about longevity he only had about 20,000 on it.
  14. I once put a 1980 Kawasaki 440 street bike in the back of my hatch and kick myself to this day for not getting a picture
  15. The one for my 96 legacy was around 20$ through subaru:confused:
  16. I had the same thing happen with my brat but luckily it happened in my driveway where I could grab the hose in a hurry. scary moment for sure. Melted the paint on the hood a little and fried the wiring and vacuum lines. replaced the hoses and wires and it fired right up. Good luck fixing or replacing
  17. How odd, I just had the exact same injury today. Tried something that was a little bit stupid on the trail. Limped her home though. Had to do a little back hills body work:lol:
  18. Is the Bias ply better off road? I thought everything was radial these days.
  19. NoahDL88 is The one that cut this up, I just watched. I believe he said that it was the ninth one that he had done. I plan on hooking it up as is with the ecu in the engine compartment. I'll worry about making it pretty when I hear the engine run. I hope to start this swap soon, I'll let you know how it goes.
  20. Safelite auto glass used to offer after market sunroof installs mobile. Can you imagine watching some glass installer take a sawzall to your roof in your very own driveway.zzz zzz zzz zzz zzz
  21. NoahDL88 helped me with my harness at WCSS9. Just thought there might be a few people out there struggling with this. Below are pics of the cut down harness (These are the wires you don't cut) It's been a while since I originally pulled this harness but I believe this is the part that runs through the fender (Edit) Remember to get the relays that are on the end of these two plugs (below). I didn't now I have a junkyard trip in my future. I think the dash has to be out to access these? Maybe I will talk to the dealer instead. This is the section that runs through the center of the firewall
  22. Can they tint that paint or is just the colors they offer? Looks like a great way to go. http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=150
