Add to the list the guy I met yesterday... he's got a '79 Brat, a 2.5L Legacy wagon, Diamond Edition coupe, 86 Brat (GL) and some other stuff too!! Kingcrab, I've already got my CB in the Brat and I would *never* use it to annoy rude truckers

Awesome! Nice catch there! I'm seriously considering a spring run out to PNW to find me a Hatch... and maybe a donor for a Doran:headbang: -
Took "Bratilla the Hun" for a spin down to Ponca Arkansas... She really loved winding out in the hills SW of Harrison! Good times indeed! There was a close encounter with some Elk along a dirt road but we survived

Makes me wanna throw an EJ22 into the GL-10 wagon and lift her... That's one way to get out of doing head gaskets on that darned EA82T:headbang:

hehehehe... yep! Ya sure did!! Looks great!

Thanks Frank B!! I'll get onto that in a couple of weeks... sadly my weekends are booked up almost to Christmas so I guess I'll just swallow a couple more weeks of the mileage. It's really not THAT bad to be honest but when driving 300+ miles a week every little bit helps!

I really don't know... just trying to get this thing tuned so it's not running as rich... hopefully there's some Hitachi guru's out there

Very nice work!! What's the valve seat profile like in that 5 angle grind? (as in what angles did you use)

Bathurst! Now we're talking racing!! Ain't nothin like watching those Holden/Ford fanboys getting destroyed by something that "has no place on a race track" remember the Mini's back in the day? Those guys TORE THE PLACE UP!! My Dad still lives in OZ and is driving my old VK Commodore for lack of a better vehicle budget and he's posted a LOT of questions on Commodore forums when he needs some advice. It's always the same "Wider tires, cut the springs, 3" exhaust and it'll be Fully sick maaate!!" Thank goodness for a forum like this! -
My '82 brat isn't giving me the mileage I was expecting and the sooting in the tailpipe suggests to me that she's running a bit rich. I've searched here and in the USMB but I haven't been able to find any diagram showing the location of the mixture screw for the Hitachi carb or any tuning info. Can anyone shed some light on this? A 220 mile highway run on the weekend got me about 23mpg, my usual daily commute gets me around 26mpg (85% highway @ 60mph, 15% City @40mph and 4 or 5 stops) Is this the best I can expect from the EA81/Hitachi combo?

I've got a set of these to go in the Brat once I get the spare tire moved to the side of the bed... It's a "Wolo Dixie 5-Trumpet Air Horn, Model# 430" AKA the "Dukes of Hazzard" horn. plays the first 12 notes of 'Dixie' -
You might run into some issues with a lack of back pressure if you don't run any muffler... Generally you can get away with it on turbo'd cars cos the turbo itself provides enough back pressure

Fancy! I need to spend a good weekend with my angle grinder and MIG welder to give my '82 Brat some love... Hopefully I can find me some new rocker panels in case the old ones are worse than they look... -

Valid point... mine would be closer to 3 Courics I guess... -
I put 60+ miles a day on my '82 Brat... had the alt go out the other week but replaced it at 3:00 in the morning so I could make it to work the next day... Sure it was cold but hell, I had fun!
