  1. EA81, have done alot of work on ea series and what a breeze, no power tho, i am looking forward to my EJ22t swap tho ~CHIM~
  2. Yeh, if anyone decides to come down this diredtion again we'll have to hook up and tear some ************ up! ~CHIM~
  3. No, it is in the floor about a foot from driver side in the back, close to the compartemt your taking about, I don't belive it's for a tire, the wing nut is to small to fit outside of the hole in the middle. i would say the wing nut is about an inch wide.
  4. I am mostly interested in what the hell that little power light is for, anyone?
  5. Just tell the guy that if he's not being completly honest about whats all wrong with the car you will contact a nasty little cult that goes by the name of "THE USMB!" ~CHIM~
  6. He's full of it if he's saying the belt was caused by the tranny, i don't see any way possible that anything you did to the tranny would ever effect somthing like that on a motor. ~CHIM~
  7. Ok my brother just picked up a 90 loyale that used to be turbo but is now spfi. this car has a few things that im not familliar with that i was hoping you guys might know what are. Fisrt it has a light in the dash that is seperate from the turbo that reads "Power", Light comes on with ignition but goes off after started and comes on again with the pedal depreesed. Has a button below the gear indacator (Auto Tranny) thats says "hold 1st" and also a threaded post with a large wing nut simaler to the spare tire under the hood but smaller in the cargo area in the very back. I'm not to smart on the newer stuff, i try to stay EA81 as much as possible. Any idea's anyone?
  8. Ok, i been doing alot of looking around so far trying to find componets for the heads, I have found 1mm larger valves but have not found larger valve seats, i also have not found valve guides, i would asume that if i took the valves and heads into a machine shop they could do the rest. i will be going new injectors as well, WRX sounds fine to me:brow: I have also found lighter pistons and rods suposedly rated for more power than stock, mostly just looking at them being lighter tho, Lighter balancer and flywheel/ Cluth Might anyone know if there are after market throttle body's for these things? Alltho i am not ready just yet i am making a list of what needs and can be done, nothing wrong with planning ahead, This isn't going to be somthing i throw togeather in a wekkend, it's going to be done rite, and as i said in my first post "NOTHING will be un-touched" I am also wondering about oil delivery, anyone know of a higher volume oil pump? ~Dayten~
  9. I'm going with the 2.2 couse it was free, Just kinda fell into my hands. If i find that the 2.2 isn't capible of the performance im looking for i might just go with the 2.5 WRX motor. Can you convert the 2.2 to DOHC? How?
  10. Ok, old Im pretty familliar with all the in's & out's or the EA series motor's, But now im stepping up to the world of EJ. I have a 2.2T out of a legacy that i am planning on putting in my 88 RX. What i would like to know is, What is everyone doing to get extra pony's out of these little motors? I mean to leave nothing untouched!, nothing unmodified, Lots of $$$ and patience i know but i mean to leave NOTHING but the block untouched! I don't intend on using the stock wiring or ecu either, After market ECU & harness as to keep the compartment clean looking. ~CHIM~
  11. Ive pulled about 13 motors so far (subies) and only 2 of them i used a hoist, 2 people can lift it out, i do it all the time (with a friend) And im not that big at all. Any place around your location rent out tools?, you might be able to rent a picker.
  12. Yes, now that you mention it the front rite will slide before any other wheel will, They will all lock up, but the front rite does it first. What are you thinking? Oh, and it acculy pulls to the left a little but pulls to the rite when i brake, I had the alignment checked at les swab and they said it was rite on to manufacture specs.
  13. Ok, this might be a dumb question but........... I have an 84 GL10 wagon with 4 wheel disk breaks, when the i press the brakes the car pulls to the rite, with the E-brake as well, i have blead then corectly and have new pads all around. Might anyone have any sugestions?
  14. Ok, WTF is up with the flange welds on the turbo models?, At first i thought i might have just had a bad run in with a few bad welds, I have replaced the cross pipe and the down pipe so many times i have lost count. Swithced to a EA82 (car is 84 turbo wagon) turbo and EA82 cross and down pipe's, Made a little over a 250 mile round trip a few days ago and guess what..............One of my head flanges is leaking and so is my down pipe flange rite next to the turbo. Has anyone one else had problems with stock welds on your turbo's? Any ideas or solutions..............I think i might be going custom exhaust sooner than i had thought i might. ~Dayten~
  15. i used to use 10w-30/10w-40 valvoline, ran it in my truck and my firebird and naturaly used it in my first subie, Complained about lifter noise to my buddy donny (Harpua) and he said give Castrol gtx a shot, Thats all i run now, made the motor run better and alot more queit, in my turbo i run 20w-50 in the summer and 10w-40 in the winter and at every oil change i use stp oil treatment. With how hard i drive i like the oil a little thicker plus the turbo heats up the oil a little more as well, see i have 2 throtle positions............ON AND OFF!!
  16. For the front i use an adjustable pin wrench, makes this job a piece of cake, My back calipers are in exelent shape and only require a push with my thumbs to compress, Never had to open the bleeder's.
  17. Perhaps you weren't looking very well, I acculy found mine in prineville and my buddy(Fat) found his in redmond, Can't remeber where donny found his, I found a grey 85 RX at rodgers towing in redmond, that was the beat up RX that donny was using for parts for a while, There is a white 87 RX in perfect condition driving around here as well, I have also seen a blue RX sedan in sisters. Just gotta be in the rite place at the rite time i guess, i feel pretty lucky for finding mine, Can't wait to get the 2.2T in there.
  18. My buddy gave this to me a few weeks ago, never seen one before. He just bought a 87 RX from the first and only owner who got this with the car at the dealer back in 87. The box and original key chain are in perfect condition! Pretty good friend if you ask me, Im going to get a key from the local dealer and have it cut for my car so i also have an original key for it. ~Dayten~
  19. Damn, worked great, i have cruise again! woohoo. Thanks man ~Dayten~
  20. Ok, i converted my 84 gl-10 to a 5-speed and now the dang cruise doesn't work, Might anyone know what has to be done to make it work with the manual tranny? I messed around with a few wires but no luck, It's starting to really bother me. ~Dayten~
  21. ok, i guess that makes sense, for a while i thought i had just missed somthing:drunk: ~Dayten~
  22. Ok, this thing looks like an Rx but the decal says "Full Time 4wd RX/II. Is there really such a thing?, what is the difference between this and a what i thought was only an RX? Just ran across it and was kinda stumped. ~Dayten~
  23. Start the gun collection now!, before the boyfriend's start showing up, Congarts man.---
  24. Does anyone have a direct link to this how-to as the USRM seem's to not be working
