My brother who works down at econmy rentals in Prineville,OR told me about this car. His boss picked it up for $200.00 and the thing is in really good shape. My bro drove it and said the thing pops wheelies really well:) He told me it was a 2.2 but im thinking it's a 2.5 Turbo. This is probly one of the coolest things i have ever seen, Im going down to prineville tomarrow to pay off a speeding ticket, My brother said that he's working tomarrow and i might possiblt get to driver it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4521097363&category=66467&sspagename=WDVW#ebayphotohosting ~CHIM~

Is it possible? I have seen alot of people do the 5 lug conversion using XT6 parts. What about 92-94 legacy 5 lug parts., And what about the rear disk? Can the rear disk bolt up to EA82? ~CHIM~
-
Ok, so is that a good thing or bad?, And my question again. Can that VLSD be used on an EA81 and is it the same process as putting a EA82 LSD on an EA81? ~CHIM~

Well at least it looks like it wanted to be a soobie.

Have you tryed tightening the castle nut after the noise presented itself, My 81 wagon did that after i changed wheel bearings, after i drove the car a few days it made a simaler noise, The castle nut was loose. Almost like the bearing had to seat in. ~CHIM~

I changed my thermostat as soon as it started getting cold out, Damn thing was defective and over heated. After i changed the thermostat again i noticed that it was smoking ALOT!, Checked the oil a few days later and sure thing, Water in my oil. I pulled the motor and changed head gaskets. After getting the heads off i saw that #4 cylinder was pitted way worse than the pic above yet the other Cylders looked perfect, No sighns of wear at all!. I just dropped it back in with the new head gaskets and called it good, I am using about 1 Qrt. a week and it's not leaking anywhere. I'll have a new motor by spring anyway. ~CHIM~

Ok, will the exhaust from the legacy donor car work? Also, you said the tranny adapter has to be made?, They don't exist otherwise? And does anyone happen to have one just layin around they might want to part with?. The tools i have in my garage are limited in that matter. This will be the first real mods i have done to a subaru, im sorry if i am anoying you guys with dumb questions. But i really do appreciate all the help.

Yet another dumb question, How would i go about adapting the EJ22 to my tranny? I guess i'll see if the tranny can hold it after it's running:) Also, will the LSD from the legacy fit EA81 aplications the same as EA82 LSD?
-
So, your saying that the 2.2 will not fit my 5 speed rx tranny? And the turbo on the 2.2 won't fit my exhuast?

I am so happy to be living in central oregon, No smog testing here at all (That i know of anyway). I got pulled over by a state cop for my custom exhaust. He said "that thing have a muffler?, I said "yeh, it's just custom" He told me to have it looked at due to noise, It's really loude:), but that was the end of it. Also, a few years ago when my firebird was still running i passed a servey crue testing passing cars for excess polution, As cars where passing a servey guy was waving cars to speed up to get them to "Blow smoke", as i passed i slipped in to nuetral and hammered it, the numbers jumped!, i got all there attention. Also i had a safty inspector tell me that technicaly here in oregon a car doesn't have to have a wind shield, but does have to have working wipers. Said there was no law saying anything about about a windshield. I have yet to test this

Oh, i forgot to aslo ask, is all the plumbing for the turbo going to work as well? Exhaust and cooling & all that.

Ok, i finally found a donor car, Im not sure what exact year it is but im asuming 92-94, Legacy sedan. Found it in the paper for free, Motor runs, no tranny. Is this motor gonna fit my tranny and motor mounts in the RX? And will my RX ECU work with 2.2? Also, Can the hubs from this car fix the rx as well. Im a little exited to be picking this car up tomarrow:) Any knowlege is VERY apprieciated! ~CHIM~

'06 Model?
CHIM replied to photo2001's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
No, i really don't think an automobile manufacturer that would make a car as bad rump roast as the WRX would ever make a saturn like car. Have you guys seen the chevy forester yet? http://www.chevrolet.co.in/content_data/AP/IN/en/GBPIN/001/BRANDSITE/index_forester.html ~Dayten~ -
WOOHOO!, i finally got one. I got this 88 RX AWD for 300 bucks, No dents,Ripples, scraped paint or rust, And interior is perfect exept for dirty carpet. The Catch?, No motor and the rear wing was cut a little to be fitted to a wagon (previos owner did the hack job) So i am looking for a mtor and a wing that will fit my new RX. Im not oposed to puting a different motor in it, Would like to have a 2.2 turbo but anyone looking to sell a 1.8 will work. Thank you for any help ya might send my way ~Dayten~ http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photo....php?photo=3160

CHIM replied to b00stingsx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not sure if the EA81 auto trannys are the same as EA82 or not but i have a EA81 3 speed auto thats no good but has a good center spline. Also i have a EA81 turbo tranny that works great. Anyone know if the center splines interchange from EA81 to 82? And would the EA81 auto go in with ease? -
i thought all ea81 blocks were the same?
CHIM replied to snowstormer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, the manifold do interchange -
any ideas about my hi-beam switch?
CHIM replied to subyrally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i used to have a bit of a switch problem as well, First year & a half the high beams wouldn't work, i hit hi and the headlights would go out completly, Tryed several times to get it fixed and gave up every time. In the process of wiring my KC daylighters i ran a wire from my battery thrue the firewall beind my fuse box and then up to my console to the switch. Not sure what i touched or did but after i tesded my kc's my high beams have worked ever since. Wish i knew what it did. -
I am running re-man axles, Havn't had a boot rip or break yet! But, I have my struts adjusted all the way up and it's taking it's tole on the joints. I hear alot of clicking from the joins (till it warms up) but yet have good boots. Maybe the axles are cheap, but where i get mine the boots are very strong.
