Can we say FIRE!!!! Well we got a new fuel pump and went to start it and it wouldent turn over so we pulled the plugs and it was flooded with fuel. we went to turn it over to clean the cylnders and it shot fuel all over the wall and those who were in the way...then we did it again and it filled the garage with flames(10' tall 14' wide) I'll post pics later when I get them.

Ok, I too am new to FI turbo but i am trying my damnedest to help Bunker (FAT). Ok ross, you said "The ea81t computer will show codes 11 and 12 when the ignition switch is in the on position and the engine is not running. Thats normal. " I have an 84 turrbo wagon and my ecu does not do this, Ok when we connect the green wires the fuel pump on my car turns on and off, The coupe does not. Now there is a realay under the passenger seat that clicls continuos with or without the green wire plugged in, Anyway, the biggest problem we have is the fuel pump issue. Might anyone know if the relay under the passenger seat be associated with that fuel pump, Or where the fuel pump relay is. Also i might add when we got this car the main harness had cought fire and we replaced it with one out of another 84 turbo wagon, everything to my knowlage is plugged in. Any help at this point would be very appreciated ~CHIM~

Speaking of the grill, the new 06 STI has the same style grill, in my opinion it looks good on the B9 but not the WRX.
-
I got to sit in one like a month ago, The B9 is pretty bad rump roast, The salesman tryed selling me one, After several min. of me telling him im poor i finally told him that if i was going to buy one it would be the STI. He left me a card and told me to call him:rolleyes:

it's there on all cars stock, turbo or non, it keeps heat from damaging your paint and collets alot of dirt and grease, Take the damn thing out! -
Yeh not a problem, you can post whatever you want, i'll hurry up and get a pic with the tent all set up. Was going to do that today but got busy changing brocken motor mounts and turbo gaskets, Had alittle to much fun at a club ralley a few days ago! So has anybody heard of this tent thing?, any options brochures that anybody knows about? ~CHIM~

Ok, first off i finally got one of my dream cars, she's a 1980 brat in really nice condition. Blue interior "very clean" with the woodgrain dash! have been looking for so long to get one of these but either had no cash or just didn't hear about one soon enough. Car is in overal good condition, Motor runs great but tranny STUCK! in first gear, Going to put in a 5-speed d/r anyway. Best part of all is what i paid for it........................................................................$0.00 Absolutly nothing! Anyway after i got the car i found what looked like some sort of canopy cover, after pulling it out i noticed that neat little subaru logo wich is a tag that is sewn into the border. After pulling it out i noticed it had little snaps on it that fit the canopy perfect!, wasn't till after i got it put on as to what is acculy was. It's like a little tent!, has a velcro flap that covers over a bug screen that has a zipper to open and close it. Im guessing it's a factory accessory but i havn't ever heard of it, could'nt find anything in the sales brocures on the main page either. Anyone here ever seen these things?, was also a price tag still on it that said $300.00. I was a bit exited to say the least, i think it's frickin cool! My canopy doesn't have the strong arms to hold up the back window so the tent isn't sitting up all the way, Also the tent deal thingy mathces the interior vynal perfect! it figures, i know that the justy was subaru's "throw away" model but here such a fun little car, Just wish they where made to last a little longer. I kinda thought that it would be a pain, looking at the pump i noticed that the big plate that is the backing plate for the pump is the whole font of the motor. Also there is a shaft that comes from the block the the chain driven gear that looks to be pressed from the inside, Wich was also broken to remove it. I know where i can get another free motor so i will probly go with that. ~CHIM~
-
Might anyone have pictures of a water pump for a 91 justy? Also what is the process of removing one the rite way?, Used a hammer to remove the old one. ~CHIM~
-
Well, the car is on hold till i get the motor reabuilt:( . I did however get my wish and picked up a 2.2 MPFI Turbo wich is going to be put in, Got it out of a 92 legacy for free! But the ticker said 280K miles so i decided to wait till i maker it fresh. Still looking for a 2.2 5-speed tho. Every day i dream of moment i get this thing on the road, (((ahh cool summer day cruising down the highway livin it up, Oh ************! i see red and blues in my rear view!, gotta go.)))

You can get the electric choke to work, What i did was hammer the PS res. in a little bit, made just the rite amount of space. You can get the rebuild kits around $35-50.00 depends on hwere you get them, also you can buy adapter kits from redline for your soob, Would probly be cheaper than having one made anyway.
-
Might anyone know where the CMP sensor on a 91 MPFI justy might be? Just put a carbed block into a 91 justy, converted everything over to FI. We are having 2 error codes poping up, CMP and the MAP sensors, we got the map thing figured out tho.
-
Thats what i use as well, i run it in my turbo and my carbed when it was still alive. 20w 50 gives alot better protection on those hot days, Just give it a little more time to warm up in the morning. I used to run valvoline till a fellow subie friend suggested Castrol GTX, My car has never run smoother or quiter, Still like valvoline for my Big blocks tho. ~CHIM~

that thing looks sweet!, There is one sticker i noticed "GPS", Geocaching rocks! My wife and i do alot of geocaching, In central oregon i get some odd looks when im in very remote places geocaching in a soob:grin: ! Subaru should be the official Geocaching vehicle. -
Yes this is an EA81, i wasn't aware that there was a 1984 EA82, Any way it's a EA81 MPFI Turbo, In the second pic you can see a water hose, There used to be a vacuume sensor, all hoses,no wires, 1 hose went to the purge canister and the other 2 went to the throtle body, i pulled this sensor out and put a water hose in it's place. Now on the car that i pulled these hoses out of wich is also a EA81 MPFI Turbo did not have this vacuume sensor, so i figuered i didn't need it. How would this sensor be nessasary on one motor and not an identical motor of the same year? Also do i need the o2 sensor?

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6167&size=big&sort=1&cat=500 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6168&size=big&sort=1&cat=500 Ok, first pic is of the 84 doner motor where i got the water lines for my car, the red circle is where the water line ran to the turbo, the blue one is where mine is set up but this motor is blocked off here. Second pic is my motor, red is where the vacuume sensor used to be but is now where the water line runs to the turbo. So now my question is "how bad did i mess it up?, was that sensor needed? the hoses from this sensor ran into the throtle body, Didn't look as if i needed it but what do i know. Can't figuer out how to past a photo in here:confused: But anyway this is what i have set up. I looked at my downpipe and i guess the new one does have an o2 sensor, but no wire attached, Do i need a o2 sensor?
-
Ok, there was a vacuume sensor deal going into the themostat housing that i removed, i pulled off the sensor to put in a coolant pipe that ran back to the turbo, wich is also the same set up as the 84 turbo i pulled it off of. Another thing, my car used to have a o2 sensor in the down pipe, when i changed to the EA82 turbo i had to use the EA82 down pipe as well but the new downpipe has no o2 sensor. Could this also cause a problem? Now for the feul pump, if i where to test it's pressure what would the pressure be?, What should it be? Ill post a few pics on here as well to show wich vacuume sensor i unplugged.
-
My car is a MPFI Factory, where would this little dude be?, Is it the same one that runs my temp guage? Also, would this sensor show up on the ecu as being defective?, asking couse my ecu reports everything as OK.
-
Im new to FI, what is a CTS?, and where do i unplug it at?, also whats it do?
-
Yup, set dead on @15 BTDC

Ok, i have had this problem for a while but it's really starting to bother me. Thing runs beutifull cold and warm idle's smooth as glass, BUT, It has alot less power when warm, Not hot. It runs normal plus i have a 92 legacy radiator in to so i know it's stayin plenty cool. It's an 84 MPFI Turbo, Has a EA82 water cooled turbo as well. Any ideas as to why this thing looses a larg amount of power when she warms up?, Oh doesn't really matter if it's hot or cold out, I did cut the bottom of my air box out too. ~CHIM~

what part is this????
CHIM replied to dragonwingsubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
looks like a tranny mount to me, it's simaler to the one im using off an EA82 cross member. But not exactly the same. ~CHIM~ -

Did the motor tick or tick louder than usual after the pressure dropped? ~CHIM~
