  1. i was part of the "whole minitruck fad" with a bagged and bodydropped old body S-10 . . . the point i'm trying to make is that you're still dealing with a truck wheel and at least when it came to trying to find wheels for my RX, i didn't want to use a truck wheel. . . never mind the offset ruining the wheel bearings issue . . . and the heavier weight (most of the time)
  2. cool story . . . sounds like the 1st time my dad brought an old honda 600cc coupe home (chain driven and air-cooled, 10' tires, i'd seen bigger on golfcarts) that thing screamed though, it was like driving a motorcycle, but without the *fast* and the center console mounted gear shifter was cool, i was selling honda's when they did it again with the civics and i remember people thinking how weird and "newfangled" that idea was those things clocked in at 50mpg or better, i'd love to own one now!!!! i'd be rollin w / 13's on it (massive) chris
  3. there are no copies of that exact wheel . . . 6 lugs are not easily available in the aftermarket car realm, although you may be right about Enkei, they do make a "race wheel" as well, I've just never seen it in a 6 lug . . . (?) still would probably be 400-500 each. easiest is still going to be 1) re-drill 6 lug truck wheel 2) find pugs 3) go 5 lug/buy a newer subaru chris
  4. thx, it a long ways to drive for XT6 bits, but heck, it's in the same state (kinda) chris
  5. +1 for Rob being a great guy, and +eleventymillion for this being the way most USMB members just are. . . every single one i've met!! chris
  6. hahaha and technically, isn't this a 3 cylinder with 6 pistons? note the article never says "six cylinder" pretty unique concept, the things men come up with while sitting on the crapper!!
  7. i looked at this option for a bit, but really, all of those 6 lug applications are suv's and truck's. their wheels are required to tow/haul/support more weight than an old Pugeot, therefore 98.2% of the time, they will be made of a heavier material, i.e. steel, instead of aluminum. when they are made of an alloy, the still have to be strong enough to be in that "light truck" class, and so they're still pretty hefty. one option i've never seen discussed is going with a very high end, true "racing wheel" like this one from RAY'S available in a 6x139.7 app. . .but you better have the $$$ http://www.mackinindustries.com/md/rays/te37x.html going price: a little over $600ea, and i wouldn't want to re-drill them (and i don't think you can even have them custom built to the offset we'd need :-\ chris
  8. i think i might get off easy with the axles even, check this out (if it hasn't been posted here already, it should be!) http://www.subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8956 boot kits (the good ones) are pretty inexpensive . . . then again you're only talking a bit more to buy the MWE axles, but at least this way you don't have to mess with the core and shipping charges . . . i'll give the bearings/races a good look to see how rough they are, and then decide . . .
  9. it had just been started, literally 10 seconds before that second video clip, so it hadn't had a chance to wind down yet . . . it was pretty cool actually, as i was standing there in amazement at how well kept and clean everything was , it idled itself down, just like it was supposed to . . . like it hadn't been sitting for the last year- blew me away
  10. *re-reads last few dozen posts* nah, think i'm good thanks . . .
  11. i've wondered the same thing, and then helped tear apart a few gen 2's, i used them as a guinea pig to find out how interior/exterior bits were attached, +1 that the "main" trim is held to the door with slide clips that pop into holes in the door, but in just about every car i've torn into, some kind of glue/tape was used as well . . . so the answer i've seen would be . . . both
  12. same to you man, satan blowing his nose huh?
  13. but where is the other end supposed to plug into?!!!!!! that raptor pic is cool, i wanna sticker . . . chris
  14. a question . . . can anybody tell me what this blue wire is for, it's connected to either the negative post of the electric steering motor, or another post very near that . . . the electric steering isn't working, i'm sure mostly due to the fact that it's out of fluid , but i was wondering why this wire would be attatched to it, and not plugged into anything else . . . it's the only thing that looked out of place in the entire engine compartment (except for the rubber glove acting as an oil cap :-\ ) crazyhorse, that one might look cool in a window, and there's a much greater chance (like 100% greater) that a small window sticker might go on this car vs. a massive gold bird
  15. uh, huh-huh-huh-huh-huh, hhhe said bird doooo for those of you waiting for exhaust video . . . here's two clips taken with the ol' cell phone . . . doesn't quite do it justice, but you'll get the idea . . . and that's with stock Y pipe and both cats still onboard . . . and a few pics of the engine compartment i clicked . . . so clean
  16. "dontchew eva' question a man's redneckhood son!" i'm down
  17. clucks and fries baby, clucks and fries +2 for myself and my lady chris
  18. they been using 'copters and planes lately, nobody gets away couple months back there was even a local news story about a ferrari driver getting pegged doing some stupid speed at night, he ran, but the state patrol airplane followed it with it's heat sensing cam (not too many cars out at night that glow in the middle instead of the front on a thermo pic ). impalas, chargers, maybe even a few crown vics were waiting a few miles later for that dude :dead:
  19. thats gonna be a negatory good buddy, no big bird emblem on the front of this machine . . . but the whole runnin' from da law part, totally
  20. we'll see how long the ER holds up for, then swappy swappy
  21. When i had my G35 (insert *sigh* here) i ran Toyo T1R's. I loved them, here in western washington, (2 seasons, rain/sun) they were perfect! Predictable, exactly the right feedback, and grip to die for (no pun intended) even in the wettest conditions. . . just don't try snow driving. i couldn't get my car to move 20 ft into a garage thru 2" of snow with those tires and the G's traction control b.s. kicking in best prices consistently that i've ever found are here http://www.edgeracing.com/
  22. will do . . . it's not what you'd expect (the typical throbbing subie with exhaust sound) its very subdued, until you poke it, and then its just like BLAAAT, gurgle gurgle gurgle, BLAAAT . . . very american le mans series prototype sounding, if you've ever heard those :slobber: she's not home yet, the tires are wayyyy to far gone to trust them on the freeway ride home (so she's at a safe mid-location) but thats the only reason also will do on checking out legacygt.com, thats a huge help, thanks! i've heard nothing but good about the megan's, so if i can get a "broken in" set of those for under 500, i'll be like this guy >> i've been looking at tons of wheels, it's really going to come down to what the best deal is when i'm ready . . . gonna stay with 16x7 i think, to keep it light and make it tuck  offset needs to stay around +45 correct? crazy horse, you might be onto something there, howabout "Raptor" as in F22 Raptor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-22_Raptor chris
  23. picked her up yesterday  and i got it for $200  (talked him down because it needed a battery- there went $50:dead: ) Updates The Good: Has sooooo much power, you can just feel that this car (i need to come up with a cool guy nickname, like Darth Evader - evading the police, get it? hahaha (?)) is just itching to get me my next speeding ticket Clutch/Gears-Good All Power Accessories-Good Engine Oil Pressure-Good, it just does the same thing my wagon does, it reads reasonably high pressure when 1st started, and 10 min's later, when at idle, registers just above 0. No knocking or any other foreign (for a subaru anyway) sounds. Exhaust-Flowmastered, VERY good . . . too many other positive to go on and on and on . . . The Not So Good Needs 4 axles (MWE, here's my next paycheck . . .) Needs 4 tires, which of course means that since its 5X100 it MUST HAVE new wheels and tires  Needs electric power steering diagnosis . . . didn't get to check it out too much, but it definitely wasn't working ("we can't turn her in time, captain!!") Needs me to buy a higher output air compressor to get the thing off the bump stops (my back is killing me today) or complete switch over to traditional suspension, i think the latter is in order, as i love the ride height on the bumpstops, but not "aired up" look when the airsusp. is properly inflated. oh well, let the fun begin!! somebody just needs to buy the RX that's in my garage soon, so i have space!!!!!!! chris
