  1. thank you, as always . . . waiting to swap to what, EJ22t?
  2. . . . so much for being a cool guy, no mullet, no cool guy status and you and i both know how that "making money" thing is going
  3. dude, 1st time you ride in a car with me, you'll understand that air fresheners are VERY, VERY usefull . . . that looks cool, wonder if you can "scratch and sniff" the thing . . . chris
  4. . . . isn't this what always happens to sube owners?! i know for a fact that one of the replies to one of my first posts was somebody saying, "we've got another one, pretty soon he'll be wheelin' and buyin' more soobs" once again, Jeff (who randomly scours the countryside for soobs that need a loving home) "knew this guy" who had an XT6 parked behind his house . . . at first i just wanted it for the 5 lug bits. . . but this is what i found when i first went to see it . . . i mean really, how could you part out such a beautiful car?! the body is so straight (and that's saying something considering it's color). the air ride has been "upgraded" to a independent (use a compressor) L and R front, and the rears are together with another air nipple (we'll see how well this works). the inside is clean, and there is no rust . . . no water inside the car, nada  it's a 5sp AWD, the "H6" is clean, the only concern is that it "occasionally doesn't build oil pressure and the valves clatter" according to its current owner. he also says 3rd gear sometimes gives alot of feedback (feel it stumble into gear) I'm thinking those mean, 1. it needs a new oil pump 2. i need to hear it run to diagnose any noises 3. it at least needs a major maintenance (trans fluid hasn't been checked in years), maybe even a complete rebuild . . . but for less than $300 for such a clean machine who cares?!!! (and it is my favorite non-color, with smoked tails  ) anyone with experience with these who may know the weaknesses that could be causing these issues, please let me know so that i can look in the right places . . . i'll be picking this car up tuesday or wednesday . . . now i've just got to find a spot for it (the RX project is taking all my garage space :-\ ) << so happy chris
  5. putting the finishing bits onto my EA82T imported and now rebuilt engine. i have a question about the spider intake i'm mounting on it. . . how do you get the thermostat housing's rear line (from throttle body area) to not interfere with the "legs" on the spider as they bolt to the top of the injector housing?! (see pics) clickey . . . clickey Rob: you'll notice my newly plumbed turbo coolant line (thank you for the info)
  6. pretty good guy, fair prices? (i've got 2 cars that need tint)
  7. **dumb guy question alert** who is SRP and how could they be more important than RXCPNW, we have more letters then they do . . . duh (RX Club of the Pacific NorthWest) "i'm not just the president, i'm also a client"
  8. very cool, i'm tryin to get the new motor/turbo in by then (but not have it blown up already ) got the spider intake on her tonight  chris
  9. will do, this is one of those tools i'm not familiar with using, but i'm sure i'll figure it out chris
  10. thanks, that's what i'm seeing too so far, wagon runs better, the "buttdyno" says i might be up a few ponies ( i don't think ea82 carbed wagons even made 100hp off the assembly line ) and the fuel economy is still just as bad :-\ as ever (so far) gotta love the buttdyno gains though chris
  11. that's what i was looking for . . . so, assuming that as GD said, it's the temp gauge that is a little off, it would be better to go back to the 192 degree t-stat for the long term results (?) where should the coolant temp be at full operating temperature, so that i can check it manually? 192 degrees? thank you chris
  12. **edit- deleted, sorry . . . off topic and unnecessary**

  14. hyup, just EJ the poo out of it. (sorry, i've got too much on my mind today for EA/EJ or the "forbearance of reptiles" stir me up) chris
  15. those of us who don't do this on a daily basis just follow the directions, which don't mention anything about those "wierd looking rubber things" that were well recessed into their hole . . . (b.t.w. you got a pic, just so we can be sure we're talking about the same thing . . .) it's not something that would've been taken care of when the heads were machined is it? please, just answers, not opinions on my personal level of skill, k? thx chris
  16. oh, thats awesome didn't see anything in the fsm about replacing these, whats the failure rate on the old rubber gaskets (i didn't replace them in my engine either, and i really don't feel like taking it back down to the heads if my odds of non-failure are okay) cf
  17. that sucks jeff . . . you want to tear it apart again or just replace it? (i'm down for either, might be cool to "split a block") i know where there's a good ea82t just waiting to be removed from one car and put into another . . . GD . . . in rebuilding two of these ea82's (one "T" and helping jeff with a non "T") i don't remember seeing any metal crush washers between the head and the cam housings . . . there were rubber ones i think . . . in one of the corners (?) whats the story there? chris
  18. yeah, i've been buying a lot higher percentage of my parts from the dealership, the price is so comparable . . . on this day, i just happened to be at napa . . .
  19. i decided that i should spend some quality time with the wagon today, i'm sure she's been feeling a bit neglected with my various projects lately (but hey, she just keeps going and going and going . . . ) i've had my wagon since last halloween ('87 EA82 w 3AT, p.b. 4wd, and carbed), and even though i replaced the t-stat and refreshed the entire coolant system, she's always run a little too warm for my liking . . . somewhere around the 1/2 to 2/3 mark on the ol' temp meter. i did not replace the radiator, so i always thought that because i just had the OEM single core rad, that the rad was the cause of the temp. just for kicks i went to napa and purchased a few of the lower temp t-stats (180 degrees vs. 192), one for each of my soobies. i dropped one into my wagon today and it made a huge difference! now the temp stays well below half always . . . so a few questions. why is the t-stat listed as the direct replacement set at such a high temp? might there be something else working in combination with the OEM t-stat that was causing the high temps that i still need to address? is there any drawback/harm in running the lower temp t-stat? thanks, as always . . . chris
  20. . . . Only if you put an EJ in it . . . chris
  21.  "it's not a Jeffmobile until it has a murdered hood" . . . you said it yourself jeff . . . where's the krylon?! can't wait to see it monday! chris
